In Badagry you depose your waste yourself. That's an advantage. Can't imagine paying this shit because of dustbin

It's actually an illegality and there are PSP operators in that axis but because Badagry is exterior Lagos and has lots of inner communities and there are lots of bushes around residents there might get away with it.

Anybody that reads it will know that the fees are not exorbitant for a metropolis like Lagos. Those that live within the estate in Lagos pay far more than this for refuse collection. They want the companies to revert to what they have been paying since 2010 which to me is unfair considering the reality of the economy.
Baba your assertion is not correct. As of, this is the third increment since last year. A flat was being 500 Naira as at early last year, they increased to 1750, then to this current price, which is almost 4000 per flat. The issue here is that other neighbourhood like Mushin, Ajao, Cele, Gbagada, Anthony Ilupeju are paying far less. Even lesser than Current charges before the increment.

You want to enjoy services like those in America and UK, you MUST PAY! People complain no light, bad roads, no security etc but if the government actually provided these things constantly and taxed or assess fees based on consumption, wahlahi una go shout OMO!

On average a 2-3 bedroom flat should be paying 70k per month for electricity, 30k for waste disposal. What people need to be fighting is unemployment and low wages that is not a living wage.

Thank God you see it, Nigerians don't want to pay for anything.

These are private companies oo, with diesel at 800 plus, diesel increased astronomically and they expect bills not to increase astronomically?

This had been announced since last year October.

Cost of one trip of diesel for a compactor was about 16000 naira for 50 liters as at early last year, diesel is now 800 plus 50 liters is around 42k plus, I am talking of per trip.

Lets not talk about parts and all anyway one needs to be in the trucking /compactor business/system to know these details. You could easily get a compactor for 5M those days now you will hold at least 15M.

Let's not even talk about parts, if your driver makes mistakes to call you like this lasan your heart will be doing gbim gbim like what has spoilt again oo, astronomically expensive, Tyre nko, if it burst like this wahala.

Point is costs of business has risen drastically, the govt had made jingles since last year October about the increase, all these na just noise. These communities have been met with since last year, most communities are resisting the increase, people don't want to pay simple.

The PSP operators cannot continue running at astronomical loss, lots of them have packed up some of these operators their diesel costs monthly run as high as 11 million depending on how many trucks they have.

I just ignore those shouting govt this, APC that, except we all want these operators to run down that's all.

Even the 200 naira is a very minute fraction of what the service cost years ago.
They have been paying this 200 naira for about 10 year and they expect they will increase it to 300 naira?

People can shout all they want it doesn't change anything.

There should be a general template that is approved by LAWMA and the ministry of environment.

The charges for refuse disposal in the city should be uniform. The bill paid by my cousin at Shomolu is lower than that of Oshodi.

The problem is that most of these PSP operators have not been ploughing back into the business, the equipment and trucks they are using are now very old, the cost of business is now higher and the only way to remain profitable is to introduce a 300% hike of their charges.

I think LAWMA should renew the contracts of the PSP operators after 10 years, if the business is no longer profitable for Excellence and other operators at Mafoluku, Oshodi and Sogunle, they should tell Lagos State government.

Other people are interested in the business

I pay 20k every month as waste disposal charges for my business at Mafoluku

I don't have the idea of what they pay now but definitely, it can't be the same #500. But paying #500 for over 10 years is unfair without being reviewed.
When I relocated to an estate within the same Ilupeju in 2015, I paid #2000 monthly for refuse disposal. I know offices in Surulere pay #10000 monthly. Let's say the truth Chief, #500 monthly for a flat for refuse disposal is just too low in this economy.

Okay..But looking at it, without review since 2009, it's unfair for the community to be resisting increment..Haba..
Looking at our economy now, #1000 per flat is still okay for monthly refuse disposal.

Do you read my message at all, You were the one that said they are Ilupeju is paying 500 as of 2011. I asked what they are paying currently. Who said they are paying 500 Naira? What I said is the this is the third time they are reviewing their price since last year. By January it was 400, peer flat. They increased it to 1750 around May, came again and reviewed the price to the current price. Which is far higher than what their neighbours are paying.

We need to consider these companies too. The cost of running their services is not expected the same as before.

How would they meet up if the keep charging the same amount as before, when the cost of running their business is becoming very high these days?

There is a template actually and that is what these operators are charging but the way it works is most times communities negotiate on CDA level and the operator then charges far far lower than the standard pricing due to negotiations and that's why it's now looking like a 300 percent increase when in the real sense most were charging way below the standard price.

So who would you blame, the community that is pricing waste management like pepper in the market or the PSP who just managed to collect what they are proposing which he knows he would never break even with in 10 years time. I believe you get the drift now.

Also charges can never be uniform lailai, you don't expect someone in Banana island and Ikoyi to pay the same as someone in Badagry.
You would be surprised that the operator at shomolu is yet to implement his own increase out of fear of revolt e. g this article.

Ask the newer people who joined the business within the past 3 years how far. Lool they will tell you. It's always easy from the outside, come within and you will under stand truly.

As for the 'other people' they can always apply to the regulatory agency for a slot, if they meet the requirements. If they now invest about 30million to buy 2 trucks and can't make 400, 000 per month ( I am even aiming too high sef) from bills after expenditure of fueling and staffingonly of around 800,000- 1M per month then they will understand their plight.

Apart from those in prime areas lots really don't have much to plough back into the business.

Older operators like excellens have packed up too he's one of the best in the business has a sizeable amount of trucks in his fleet and trust me you need some level of resilience and tenacity to operate successfully in oshodi and he has done it for years with almost zero incidents of cart pushers. The carters dare not.

If you have 60 houses on a street paying4k per month and you are given slot for 10 streets or about 600 houses, that is a revenue of 2.4million per month.

We all know that the current operators have thousands of houses excluding the markets they are managing. None of them currently make less than N300 million as annual revenue

PSP are offering utility services and they have no competitor, LAWMA should give each operator maximum of 10 years and let others come on board.
