If you have 60 houses on a street paying4k per month and you are given slot for 10 streets or about 600 houses, that is a revenue of 2.4million per month.

We all know that the current operators have thousands of houses excluding the markets they are managing. None of them currently make less than N300 million as annual revenue

PSP are offering utility services and they have no competitor, LAWMA should give each operator maximum of 10 years and let others come on board.

Excellence and Tunap

Omo...see figures....I never realised these guyz were making this much as revenue.

The challenge would be their expenditure and non-payment which is usually high

Whats the use of the bills when they can't account for the once being paid. You are comparing your country to USA even ordinary steady light you don't have.
At least where I live I pay for LAWMA and they come to evacuate my refuse.
Thank God You admit there is even light even though it’s unsteady. The question is can you pay the real moneys worth of steady light? Can you?

Abi. And the new bill rates are even decent rates. 200 naira monthly for waste disposal in 2023? Laughable!
No matter how small the amount most people won’t pay. They expect govt to do everything for free.

Hearsay or facts?

Expenditure nko?

In my CDA alone at Samuel we have over 250 houses, we pay 8k per month in my house, bungalow pay 4k per month. Assuming the average payment per month is 5k that is about 1.25 million per month and N15 million per annum for just 5 streets. This is an understatement I pay 20k per month for my at Oshodi and 12k per month at Ikorodu.

The PSP charges Red Star Express hundreds of thousands per month for waste disposal

None of the PSP operators with Oshodi local government make a revenue that is less than N300 million per annum.

I think Lagos State should revenue the operations of the PSP, each CDA should be empowered to establish or employ their refuse disposal contractor

The thousands of property at Ewutuntun, Mafoluku, Oshodi and Sogunle is too big for Excellence and Tunap to manage efficiently.
Oshodi market is too big for one PSP operator to manage

They are making good money, the operators are investing in real estate. Since they have the backings of government, it is a cool way to make money if you are smart. Unfortunately most of them are politicians or friends of politicians

A truly business minded person will make tons of money from the business and build generational wealth through waste disposal and management

What understand is that when the economy is going down. Most small businesses can not survive and inflation rate is at it peak how do u think people will cope?
When jobs are being given base on who knows who not on merit how do u think people be happy to pay bill outrageous bills

You can not just wake up over night and increase bills to that outrageous percentage without putting the economy situation of the country into consideration.

People are just trying to come out of scarcity of naira wahala in which so many people will be out of business and here comes an outrageous bill

Make these people the fear God Small

Businessman calculating income on another business without looking at the expenditure and the amount of recalcitrant tenements that will never pay. Now Ask excellens how much he spends on fuel alone everymonth and I can assure you it won't be less than 9million, that's being very modest. I am very certain of this.

Now you are saying one place is too big for somebody do you even know the fleet capacity of these two operators you mentioned? You don't I am very sure of that.

Do any of the residents at oshodi residents or markets have any complaint about the effectiveness of the operator?
The complaints is always about bill payments

I asked you earlier if you have complaints about their effectiveness you said nothing, if they were not being serviced regularly it will be in this same article.

Service okay
Payment wahala issoraite

Like I said it's always easy to talk the talk from the outside when you get in you will know the walk is different.

The business is not profitable reason why I think government should terminate the current PSP operators in the next 2 years

The business should be restructured, stakeholders should have a say in the operation

The operators should be given a 5 year license which can be renewed once making a total of 10 years. Each CDA should be allowed to choose their PSP operator as much as possible residents should be allowed to own shares in each of the PSP operator that will be licensed for the CDA.

Excellence and Tunap can't be complaining about the challenges of the business and yet they are not ready to exit the so called business that is not profitable

What an inane response to a purely civil matter.

The police have no locus standi in the matter.

You must be an APC ur.chin who believes in in govt intimidating the populace at will.

Why is it that you evil fellows always love the common man to pass through pains.

Can you imagine this Joker talking about US.

On Nairaland I discovered that those who rush to compare Naija with UK and US haven't been to either countries.

I am in UK currently and the govt just stopped the money they have been giving people to help with their winter bills as winter officially ended some weeks ago.

I'm sure you will be angry if our govt actually really gave some financial support to the people instead of the fraudulent cash transfer that is actually transferred into govt officials pockets instead of the masses.

We hate bills in this country. But we want our country to be like USA, and when you remind Nigerians that citizens of the USA pay humongous bills, you are quickly reminded that there are no jobs in Nigeria.

It is only in this part of the world that politicians and their cronies are the owners of utility companies, ideally the citizens ought to own shares in waste Management, water, electricity and transport services companies.

When utility bills are increased due to the running cost of the business the residents who are shareholders are sure of bountiful dividends at the end of the business year.

That's irrelevant. What matters is how much the services cost to provide, as operators have to cover their costs and still have enough left over for it to be worthwhile - otherwise they could simply invest their money in the bond market and rest easy. Too many Nigerians have an attitude of entitlement, expecting others to give them goods and services for artificially low prices (or even free) as if others owed them simply for existing.

.To me 2000 monthly to dispose waste for a flat in a city like lagos may not be too much. Many Nigerians detest paying their bills. That is why they will be living in a horribly dirty place but they won't even care.

We need to consider these companies too. The cost of running their services is not expected to be the same as before.

How would they meet up if they keep charging the same amount as before, when the cost of running their business is becoming very high these days?
Nigerians want their country to be like UK and US but they can't make a single sacrifice. You know the amount of waste a family house living a Flat generate per month, and they are complaining that paying 2,000 per month to dispose it in congested city like lagos is too much. They will rather throw the waste in the streets, blocking roads, drainage, causing flood. Tommorrow they will turn around and say government is doing nothing. We are just the cause of our curse
