Tinubu will postpone it.. na set up for now.. why didn’t Buhari remove it.. he decided to leave it to when he is leaving and push the responsible on Tinubu head.. that kind of stress is not needed for Tinubu to start.. he should remove it 2025 or after his first 4 years |

YesDaddyTill203:And you think Nigeria is a place where the end justifies the means?, have you benefited from the removal of diesel and kerosene subsidy?,, Subsidy is the only palliative any Nigerian gets from the government, and we still suffer over it, why do myopic people like you believe in this government policies. This people can only account for how much money they have borrowed but can never account for how much money they have spent. |

illicit: The marketers buy a product subsidized by the FG but later resell to to the citizens at the high price without recourse to the subsidy (subsidized amount). So in a nutshell all the benefits belong to the marketers. That's why the likes of Otedola, Aliko, A.A Rano will forever be rich. In a sane clime, when the subsidy removed all the citizens enjoy the benefits in totality, but reverse is the case in Nigeria. The people that remove the subsidy will still be the ones dividing the money among themselves. Now the suffering will be double wahala for dead body who happens to be Nigerians. 1. The fuel will be expensive 2. The inflation will be hyper. 3. The salary remains the same. 4 the rich become richer. 5. The gab between the rich and the half-have will be wilder. 1 Like 1 Share |

drlateef:Oga nateef, Do you think Nigeria is being governed by people that understand advanced economics? The reason Nigeria is better than other Africa countries, is because of it’s land and the people, it’s system is a big Irony to the riches of it’s geography and people, I guess you are a part of the households that will be getting 5k palliative sha, Enjoy. |

828Stony:You have been brainwashed to think this way. Emancipate yourself from your mental slavery. The roads you drive on are constructed by govt, the airport, the school, the police, rhe Army and many other things are provided by govt. They might not be best but they are available. Remove subsidy money that's only making few people rich and make sure that the money is invested judiciously. Making sure that the money saved is used judiciously is what you should be worried about instead of making few people rich while still having to stand in line and wait for the fuel that was supposedly subsidized. Pls wake up. |

blacknp: Is it not OBIDIENTS that are cowards? who are inciting people against BAT because he has vow to remove the subsidy which add no value to average Nigerians. Like you rightly said, Jonathan would have been the best in the Nigerian political cycle had he gotten the political-will to execute his policies. Lack of Political-Will was what led him to chickened out when he saw protest as per his move concerning subsidy removal. For instance, BVN, TSA and the rest were the brain child of Jonathan's administration but he lacked the Will to initiate them. Hopefully, Tinubu will do just that because he got the balls to do that. |

YesDaddyTill203: This is a disingenuous argument that has been parroted for too long. And this argument is not only deceptive, but also very provocative. Fuel price is N185 or so today, or averagely N200 nationwide. And then when the subsidy is abruptly removed, the same fuel price will skyrocket to not less than N500-700. So I don't get your point about subsidy only benefitting "few rich people". If subsidy is benefitting only a few rich people, then removing it completely should make little or no difference to the pump price which millions of ordinary Nigerians buy the product! My simple argument against subsidy removal at this point is that you can't put the cart before the horse. You can't administer cold turkey remedy to address a terrible addiction. Things must be done strategically... One step at a time. I hate to bring partisanship into this, but I think only Peter Obi would have both the balls and the sense to do the right thing and THEN remove the so-called subsidies. First you have to introduce efficency and better transparency into the subsidy payment regime. Most of the money claimed to be paid as subsidy is overinflated due to corruption in government itself, and then because of inefficiency and poor accounting. A transparent and determined leader would find a way around this nonsense. Thereafter you have to focus on getting the local refineries running at full capacity. Both private and government owned. You also have to improve power generation, transmission and distribution. If we have local refineries that can meet our local needs, then the government supplies them crude oil in Naira (with rebates where necessary) and if we have fairly decent power supply, even if you remove subsidy, the price differential wouldn't be astronomical, and it would be easy for lots of people to do without having to buy the fuel. All of this is common sense even though it is the hard, long and proper way. But people like you like to think you're very smart and that's why you prefer the easy shortcut low hanging fruit. 2 Likes 1 Share |

APC cannot remove subsidy, they have no moral standing to do so. Not them, it can be another party but no APC. They lost it when they opposed Jonathan govt from removing it and use lies from it in hoodwinking people to vote them. If they will remove it, they need to tender public apology first for deliberately deceiving people. |

828Stony: I should be the one giving 5k to people like you. Alhamdulilah for His blessing. I dont have any pecuniary benefits to get other than good government. I believe Tinubu is a blessing to Nigeria and you will soon realise it. |
Re: NEC Recommends Postponement Of Petrol Subsidy Removal by IfnobeGod20: 6:55pm On Apr 27, 2023 |
blacknp:Until first thing first. Removal of subsidy is just trying to create a lot of problems in the system. The adverse effects will be unimaginable. Prices of goods will skyrocket. Every of our national life will be affected. The first thing to be done is to ensure all the refineries are fixed and optimally in use. This will naturally fizzle out the subsidy regime because government will not take crude oil to refine again and the money expended to take the crude oil to abroad and bringing the refined products will not be there again. That's why I said, first thing first. Many of these government officials are benefiting from the subsidy regime and they've refused to fix the moribund refineries. I am even more disappointed in Buhari that he could not fix the refineries for good 8 years and played along with oil cabal benefitting heavily on the subsidy regime. Removing subsidy is crippling the economy and the economy out of the reach of the average and the poor. |
Re: NEC Recommends Postponement Of Petrol Subsidy Removal by sonofthunder: 7:02pm On Apr 27, 2023 |
blacknp: Please help me understand the first paragraph better. I also support the removal but seeing how treacherous our leaders can be, there should be some succor first, maybe the overall revamping of our refineries to minimum 70% installed capacity, else the hardship will be unbearable. |
