For those complaining about Ribadu being a cop, a retired AIG is as good as a Brigadier General.

However I would even dare say more senior AIGs, and the COMPOLs/AIGs that eventually make DIG are equivalent to Major General.

The Inspector General is equivalent to a Lieutenant General, seeing as he shares parity with all service chiefs except the CDS.

I dis agree. DCPs and Colonels go to NDC/NIPSS for one year course . They are all promoted at the end of course

Can you just walk up to any governor or minister? Can you just walk up to Arthur Eze, kalu etc But that same unstable FFK has unlimited access to them all so bro change your mindset.

You make my point even stronger sir.

DCPs and Colonels going for the same course means their ranks are of parity.

So a DCP being promoted to CP at the same time as his Colonel course mate becoming a Brigadier General makes the ranks equivalent, seniority notwithstanding.

To further strengthen this, during our many military administrations, when a coup happened, governors are always replaced by the Brigade Commander in the state.

Where Brigade Commanders are absent, the Commissioner of Police replaces the governor.

In fairness, Alhaji Ismaila Gwarzo a retired Nigerian high ranking security and intelligence official and who was also a police officer was once NSA but under late Gen Abacha, a military president.

National security advisor can even be a civilian. It sometimes helps to not be part of the military complex. What the job requires is the ability to assimilate large amounts of data and create responsive fast moving projects with action points.

In fact I think that having someone outside of the three main forces. It will help inter forces cooperation and coordination which has been our main problem.

While not neglecting your concern about Ribadu, a former police officer leading the rank and file of the country's security agencies, and the egocentrism of our top Nigerian generals heading the armed forces, it is safe to point out that past NSA's with top military ranking haven't done much good to the security architecture of the country. Dasuki and a host of others comes to mind.
But looking at Ribadu's track record, both as a police officer and as the EFCC chairman, he's one guy with passion and zeal to deliver. He's strong, fierce and purpose driven, hence, the reason his choice won't raise questions about his capacity to deliver. At this restructuring stage of our country, only results oriented and patriotic Nigerians should be considered for any public positions.
