Nigerian Nurses in the UK start with 22k to 25k a year. There are Nigerian doctors on 60k GBP a year too.

Entry level for Nurses in UK is band 5 and they don't start on 22k, not even nursing associate. The starting salary for entry level nurse (Band 5) in England as of today is 28407 Pounds.

Let's keep plundering and looting the resources of the nation!

We are healthy enough to do without doctors and healthcare professionals...!

I don't know where you got these figures from, but your data for foreign doctors working in Saudi Arabia is absolutely wrong.
It is nowhere near the figures you quoted.

This is what alot people do not consider, those amount of salaries should attract taxes of atleast %25 to %30, bils excluded. Car insurance, gas, electric, water, council tax, road tax, car parking permit, MOT, petrol and health insurance, food groceries. And you have to pay into a pension scheme.

Even at that, a financially prudent person will still save and invest a lot more than here!

If you are earning 80k a year in UK, and cost of living plus taxes take up like 60k, are you saying 20k saved is too small?!!

If you convert that to Naira, are you not still far better than your mates working here?!!

PublicHealthNig:
By 2030, the World Health Organization (WHO) predicts a significant deficit of approximately 10 million healthcare workers, predominantly affecting low- and lower-middle-income nations. Some countries suffer from chronic underinvestment in the education and training of healthcare professionals, leading to ongoing shortages. Additionally, there is often a disconnect between education and employment strategies concerning healthcare systems and the actual needs of the population. This mismatch further contributes to the scarcity of healthcare workers.

According to a study published in the British Medical Journal there was a shortage of 15 million health workers as at 2020. Compounding the issue is the difficulty in deploying healthcare professionals to rural, remote, and underserved regions. These areas face additional obstacles in attracting and retaining skilled healthcare workers. The situation may vary across different regions and countries, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare systems has further exacerbated the shortage.

In the last few years, the escalating international migration of healthcare workers from developing countries has worsened the shortage, especially in low- and lower-middle-income countries. Poor working conditions and low wages and insecurity have forced many health workers to seek out greener pastures in countries where the doctor and health worker welfare is prioritized. In this article, we bring the list of top countries where health workers migrate to and how much they are paid.

You did not get your figures right for the physicians. You overbloated their figures without proper references and citations.

Even specialist physicians are on £55,000.
Other specialist health workers like physios, Nurses, Biomedical scientists, Rads earn £45,000- £55,000. Consultants in these field like the BMS could earn far more.

There are only a handful of specialist fields like neurosurgery, Anaesthesiologist and cardiovascular surgery that can earn $300,000 and over in the USA. No Generalist earns as much as that.

Specialists and consultants in Nursing and other healthcare fields earn much more that you have represented herein.

Yes, you are correct, and cost of living wouldn't even take upto 60k cheesy with 80k cost of living would be around 25k or 35k depending on how you live. I was just pointing out what one have to deduct from these amount that are mentioned on here and to put that into consideration. People don't take all their earnings home there are deductions.

I have also have to point out that one must put in shifts also, sometimes you have to work more hours and shifts.

Is not calculated straight like that bro, before you argue any further my earning is in that range. A salary earner of 88k would still have around 59k after tax and NI deduction, outside pension which is optional.

$78k for nurses in the US is about $6500 a month
Here is an estimate of monthly expenses from the “ bills” you presented using a state like Texas with no state tax only federal.

Income taxes $1k
Car insurance $100
Gas for house $100
Electricity $200
Water $100
No council tax
No road tax except toll $100 (optional)
Car registration yearly ( reg and inspection) $80
Parking permit. Hardly except you work downtown
Petrol $40 a week. One month $160
Health insurance optional or about monthly $300
Grocery weekly $100 . That is $400 a month
House bill/ mortgage $2000
Total $ 4600.
Others you did not mention

Cell phone bill $50
Cable tv /internet $100
Lunch at work $10 daily for 20 days $200
Hair care $80
Toiletries $100
Entertainment ( drink, coffee, snacks, movies) $100
Offering church ( not tithes) $100
Oil change for car / maintenance $100
Send to family/ someone in Nigeria $100
Miscellaneous $100
Subtotal $1000
Plus the initial $4600
Everything $5600

Now your monthly $6500 - $5600
Savings of about $900 monthly . This is the reality if you are single.

That is why couples who work together would be bette off if they both earn and one of the income is saved. There is no other magic

I need to add that most single people have 2 jobs. They can do 2 jobs because they do not have that additional responsibility of caring for someone else
So instead of staying home after just 36- 40 hours work week, they get another job that pays almost the same monthly amount.

Trying to choose between the US and Australian pathways… 😢

Anybody wey fit advise abeg… 🙏🥹
If as a Doctor, Australia is easier for you to practice as a Nigerian trained Physician than USA.

If you are a nurse, go for USA because Australia is more difficult now for foreign nurses to practice in Ausie with some of their new policies. Whether US or Australia, you must write Nclex-rn to practice, so why waste time, money and energy writing Nclex-rn just to go to far away Australia whereas you can comfortably move to US once you pass the Nclex-rn.

Also Australia requires some additional qualification even after passing Nclex-rn whereas all you need to practice as a foreigned trained nurse in the US is to pass Nclex-rn exam
