~ Ckay's POV ~

“Are you in a good mood or did you just get a new exciting project that will make us rich as fvck?” Dave asked and I gave him my flat face right away. Paul chuckled and Dave turned to him.

“What? Did something happen?” Dave asked curiously.

“Maybe he got laid yesterday,” Paul said and I glared at him hard.

“Really? Is she hot?” Dave asked me and I rolled my eyes.

We just finished our meeting and we were sitting in a restaurant for lunch. I ordered fish and chips when the two of them ordered too.

“I really need to get laid these days. I’m starting to get so lonely,” Dave said and I chuckled looking at him.

“Get a girlfriend then,” Paul said.

“Uh.. No, one-night stand is fine,” Dave said, and then after he excused himself to go to the toilet. I took out my phone to check my email when Paul suddenly kicked my leg.

“What?”

“Uhmm…isn't that Adannaya?” I turned my head to the window and saw Adannaya with the man from last Sunday. I raised my eyebrows seeing them together.

Adannaya laughed and even ate the Candy Fred gave to her.

My jaw literally dropped because how come she can be nice when she just met again with this guy? Is she going nuts? She so basically treated me like shit for weeks and that guy came out of nowhere around 5 days ago and she treated him like a friend already?

“You know…you can go if you want to because no matter how you try to make a laser out from your eyes… it won’t come out,” Paul commented and I turned my eyes back to him.

“Laser? Ha ha ha funny,” I said as I turned my attention back to my phone. I found myself looking at Adannaya's phone number and I put my phone number on the table upside down.

“One beer please!” I said shouting it loud enough for the waiter to hear it.

“Beer? You’re not a day thinker,” Dave said as he got back from the toilet.

“Just shut up,” I said looking at him and Dave looked at me confused.

“He had a good mood earlier and now why is he..?” Dave asked but Paul cut him by gesturing him to shut up.

“Seriously…do you have a girlfriend, now?” Dave asked me.

“No.”

“You act like you have a girlfriend dude. Chill, don’t think about work too much. We’re an architect and we have to chill.” Dave said as he patted my shoulder. I took my phone again and decided to dial Ada's phone number.

“Hello.”

“Where are you?” I asked right away.

“Uhmm…outside.”

“Who are you with?”

“Fred.”

Well, at least she was honest.

“Oh..the hug friend.”

“What are you two doing?”

“We met accidentally earlier and why do I have to answer all your questions? You’re acting like a jealous boyfriend now!” she hissed coldly.

“I can’t believe you easily opened up to him.”

“He’s my high school friend and why are you complaining the same thing again and again?” She said with an ‘I—will—kill—you' tone.

“Because it’s not fair.”

“Fair? What?”

“I tried to be friends with you for weeks and you gave me a lot of shit. Now, you met your friend again and you treated him normally!” I busted.

“Wow..you sound like a kid. Listen Kiddo, it’s up to me who I want to be nice with. What’s your problem?”

“Kiddo? Kiddo?” I repeated.

“You’re acting childish right now,” she said flatly.

“Whatever!” I ended the call and put down the phone.

I turned to Paul and Dave who were already looking at me weirdly. Dave raised his eyebrows and started to lean forward looking at me suspiciously.

“You have a girlfriend?”

“No.”

“Then what was that? You’re acting like a jealous boyfriend,” Dave said as he pointed his finger at me. I smacked it away and at the same time, the beer came with all of our food.

I drank the beer and let out a deep sigh.

“You were acting so possessive earlier. I wonder who the girl is? You never acted like this before… interesting.” Dave smirked.

“Shut it… he might k!ll you if you keep teasing him,” Paul said.

“What? He’s in love.. How can I not tease him?” My eyes widened when Dave said that.

“Love? She’s my friend.

“Well, you’re acting like a guy in love. Should I sing you the BTS song? Oh my my my….”

I glared at him hard, ready to throw him a glass of beer. He shut his mouth right away and he gestured for me to put down the glass.

“So..who's this mysterious girl?” Dave asked.

“Just shut up…,” I hissed.

I started to eat my food silently with my heart burning inside.
Suddenly, my phone rang, and it was Adannaya. I looked at it for a moment before picking it up.

“What?”

“Will you stop giving me that tone?!” She busted annoyed.

“What is it?” I asked nicely.

“I met Your parents at the bookstore and they wanted to early lunch together.” She said and I got up immediately.

“Pay for it…. You pissed me off earlier,” I said to Dave and walked out of the restaurant ignoring Dave as he kept calling my name constantly.

“Where are you?”

“Book store…the big one,” she said and I quickly crossed the street and walked one block.

“Where are you?” she asked.

“Almost there… I can see you.”

I saw her with my parents talking and thank God that Fred of guy was gone already.

“Mom.. Dad..,” I hugged them.

“You have a meeting near here?” my Dad asked.

“Nah.. Just hanging out with Dave and Paul.”

“Let’s have lunch together. Ada will join us,” my mom put her arm around her back and Ada smiled nodding. I looked at her boldly and she glared at me.

“Let’s go…I want to eat Chinese food,” my mom said.

“Let's go,” I said.


~ Adannaya's POV ~

We walked into a Chinese restaurant and sat at the corner of the room. We looked at the menu when suddenly someone called my name.

“Adanna.” I turned to see my cousin and I immediately got up from my chair.

“Nnaa, otegokwa (Bro, it’s been a long time)” I hugged him and let him go. I turned to Ckay and introduced my cousin, Divine. My mom’s big brother's son.

“Mr. and Mrs. Chris, this is my cousin, Divine. Divine, this is Ckay's parents, my friend.” I said and Divine shook all of their hands.

“Nice meeting you, Divine.”

“The feeling is mutual but I can’t stay here longer to chat with you guys. I have to go now.” He pointed at the rest of the group and I nodded.

“Ada, have fun and send my regards to your father,” he said in Igbo language and patted my back.

“Okay,” I said and he walked away. I sat down again and Ckay gave me a weird look.

“You can speak Igbo?”

“Her mother is Igbo, Ckay.” His mom said and he turned to her, nodding.

“So, you can relate well in Igbo?” He asked and I nodded.

“Wow…,”

“Yes,” I said.

“So, Ada, how’s your father? Hope he’s fine?” asked Ckay's father.

“He's fine. He’s just busy with work.”

“That man…still trying to distract himself with work,” Ckay's father said.

“How did you two and Ada meet earlier?” Ckay asked.

“She was with her friend talking and we walked out from a vintage store at the same time,” her mom answered and Ckay smirked.

“I heard you two often hang out these days,” his father said and I shook my head.

“We are, we’re getting closer these days. We’re best friends,” Ckay said and I glared at him weirdly. We had a fantastic lunch even though I didn’t talk much but it was fun to talk with Ckay and his parents.

After that, his parents left and I stood side by side with Ckay waving at his parents.

“You're going back to work?” I asked him.

“Yeah..how about you?”

“Going to stroll alone around the central park.”

“Want me to accompany you?” He asked and I turned to him shaking my head.

“Nah…I’ll skip work. Let’s go.” He said as he took my hand.

“How did you see me with Fred earlier?” I asked because it was a little creepy.

“I was in a restaurant with my friend when I saw you.”

“Okay,” I said.

“Don’t tell me that you’re going to hang out with that guy again in the future.” He said in a pissed tone.

“I'm not. Jeez. What’s with you?” I hissed.

“I don’t really like it when you’re being nice to others when you’re being so cold and pissy to me.”

“I'm not being nice to others,” I said as I pulled my hand from his grip.

“You are.”

“When?”

“Fred and the guy from earlier.”

“Divine is my cousin!” I looked at him angrily.

“Fred is my high school friend, Ckay. Stop being a pain in my ass!” I glared at him. He walked away first and I really wanted to smack his head so bad. I continued to walk behind Ckay when my eyes landed on someone that I didn’t want to see again. He was just 20 meters in front of us and my body froze. My heart was beating crazily.

“Ada?” I turned to Ckay who was calling me but I shook my head slowly.

“Is everything okay?” Ckay asked as he walked back to me. My eyes were stuck looking at the man who was currently walking this way.

“Cover me. Please, cover me,” I said to Ckay and he quickly covered me up by pretending to kiss me.

He put his head so close to me that I could hear and feel his breathing. Ckay slowly hugged me, hiding me fully with his tall and built body.

“You okay? Is there something that you don’t want to see?” Ckay asked, whispering.

“Yeah,” I answered.

“Are you hiding another secret?”

“I always have a secret,” I answered and Ckay stood up straight again. I looked around to see if it was clear to go or not.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Ckay asked and I nodded.

“Let’s go.” He took my hand we both continued to walk again.

“Who are you avoiding?”

“I don’t want to talk about it now,” I answered because I'm still trying to recover from what happened earlier.

“Okay, fine.”

“So, why were you planning to stroll Central Park alone? Shouldn’t you be with someone so you won’t be lonely?”

“I love strolling alone. It gives me an idea. I need healing time. That’s all,” I said. We almost arrived at Central Park and Ckay pulled me into a café to buy a drink. He asked me if I wanted to drink and I ordered a Smirnoff.

“Here you go..,” Ckay said as he gave me my drink. We walked out of the café again and Ckay took my hands again.

We have been holding hands since earlier and let it go just to buy drinks. I tried to let it go a few times but Ckay held it tightly.

“I always wonder why I always fall into having a relationship,” Ckay started to talk.

“Either being cheated on or…I’m not good enough. It was never on my part. I always try to step back by making them happy even though I don’t really like what I’m doing.” He sighed and I led him to sit on a bench.

“I might not be good at love or relationship but one thing I know is that love is two ways. You can’t keep giving them what they want. There’s give and take. It’s an unwritten rule in a relationship,” I said and sipped my drink.

“You know… I'm starting to get comfy with you which is not a good sign from my side.”

“You better don’t get comfy!” I hissed and he chuckled.

“Thanks for the reminder.”



~ Ckay's POV ~

It’s weird that now Ada and I can laugh with each other without me being worried about her k!lling me.

We were both relaxing in a central park, sitting on the grass talking and even joking about things that we saw. I was going to ask her about the secret but thought it wise to let the sleeping dog lie.

~ Ckay's POV ~

One thing that I noticed about her was how beautiful she is when she laughs her ass off.

Now, my instincts changed towards her and it felt weird a little bit. It used to be wanting to know why she was acting cold and wanting to be her friend, but now I want to protect her at all costs. I don’t know what made me feel that but it just came to me.

“When I was little, I used to steal other people’s pencils because mine always got lost somewhere. My teacher told my dad about it and he literally bought me five boxes of pencils and an eraser. I used it all until I finished high school,” I said and she laughed.

“You were such a weird kid.”

“Well, I guess I am.” I shrugged and chuckled.

“My favorite food was pizza. I couldn’t live without it and I used to order pizza every day until my brother got diarrhea,” she said and I facepalmed.

“That’s crazy… pizza?”

“Extra cheese and pepperoni,” she said as she raised her index finger and I laughed.

“That explains the pizza that you ordered last time,” I said and she nodded. We both had a silent moment for a few seconds until she started another topic.

“How did you try to move on, Ckay?” she asked suddenly as she looked up to the sky trying to block the sunlight with her hand.

“It was not easy. Me and my brother were inseparable and it gave a really big hole inside my heart when he was gone. My parents and friends couldn’t help me with that, but I figured it out on my own. I can’t grieve all the time because I bet he doesn’t want to see me like that.” I answered as I looked blankly at the ground.

“I used to have someone besides my mom who knows me the best,” she sighed and I was so glad that she decided to open up to me.

“He left me at the same time as my mom passed away. It hit me double right away.” My hands turned into a fist. How dare he left her when she needed him the most?! What kind of person is he? I really want to know what his reason is and k!ll him after that.”

“That’s why it’s enough for me to open up with people because, at the end of the day, they’ll leave me. I have no luck with it.”

“Is he your boyfriend?” I asked.

“No..he was my best friend.”

“So, that’s why it’s not easy for you to open up with me, huh?”

“He approached me at first just like you. I mean I wasn’t this cold back then but I was not that friendly either to new people because I’m not the type of person who can socialize well. He promised things, he kept it and then he made me comfortable and then he left.”

“But why are you so nice to Fred?” I asked because I don’t like him.

“Fred helped me back then to go to the hospital when I got the news about my mom. He helped me to tell my teacher about my condition too.” I nodded understanding it but still doesn’t like Fred.

“Adannaya, a girl like you really deserves all the happiness in this world. Somehow after hearing your stories, all I want to do is to carry all your burdens and let you get the happiness that you should get. It’s not fair for you to carry all of it alone and seeing you always sad and losing hope really made me sad,” I said sincerely and she suddenly chuckled as she patted my thigh lightly.

“You shouldn’t meet me in the first place. You deserve to meet someone who can make you happy but you met a girl like me who tested your emotions,” she said and I turned to her smiling.

“Really?”

“One day, I will repay all your kindness, Ckay. I don’t know when but I know I will. If I do, just move on. One day, I will give you all the credit,” she said and I nodded.

“Good to know.”

“Maybe I’ll give you a big gift on your wedding day,” she smiled and I raised my eyebrows. My eyes landed on two eyelashes that fall out on her cheek. I leaned closer to her and tried to take it with my hand but ended up looking into her eyes. It went down to her hips too. That was tempting.

“Where is it?” She asked me to pop my bubbles and I quickly took it away. I sat straight and coughed awkwardly.

“Is it because you read a lot of novels that you edited?” I asked.

“Yeah…Maybe.”

“Well… I guess I have to find another way,” I smirked.
“I suggest you find another way because it will be dangerous for both of us.” She said in a serious tone.

“What's wrong with that?”

“You know why…We can’t go that way. She said and I quickly leaned to her until she laid down on the grass. Her eyes were wide open and I leaned to her slowly.

“You’ll leave me one day, I can guarantee that.” She said and my heart boiled.

“You don’t know me, Ada. You can’t judge me that fast when I’m the one who is always trying to know you. I’m not that guy who will suddenly leave you out of nowhere!” I busted angrily and I didn’t even know why I’m so damn mad.

“If you want more, I suggest you stop seeing me in the future. I can’t give you what you want, Ckay,” She said and I got up right away. I was so tired of hearing it.
I’m not that guy and I know that I’m capable of more than that. I found myself walking away from her. I need to calm myself or else I will punch someone in the face without any reason.



~ Adannaya's POV ~

If you think I will be on your side time, you’re wrong,” Nelo hissed coldly as she cut the chocolate cheesecake for me.

“What? I'm a romance novel writer and I know all the gestures that men are making these days,” I said as I took my fork completely— ready to dig in.

“I seriously want to hit your head with a rock,” she said as she pulled the cake away from me. I looked at her in disbelief.

“He likes you and what’s wrong with that?”
“I don’t like him.”

“That’s the biggest lie that I’ve ever heard in my life,” she said, looking at me completely to k!ll me.

“Why do you think I’m lying? I don’t have..,”

“You were dancing with him!!” she busted cutting me and I looked at her in disbelief.

“You were spying on me?”

“You were opening up to him and it’s good. Why are you avoiding it? He deserves better and I don’t have any feelings for him,” I said as I took the plate from her. I dug in right away after that.

“I know that feelings still need to grow but still..you care for him at some point. I know you are still the same, Adannaya.”

“I saw Dike, earlier,” I said and her eyes widened like it was going to pop up.

“Did he see you?”

“No.. I asked Ckay to cover me up.”

“Did Ckay ask anything?”

“No.”

“That’s the point!!!” She smacked the table, making me startled.

“Gosh…I swear that Ckay will be the best thing that will ever happen to you if you try to open up!” She said, pointing to me with a knife she used to cut the cake.

“Stop pointing me at that. I h@te it.” I hissed as I scooped the cake into my mouth.

“Besides…I don’t want to hurt Ckay earlier. He’s okay but…stepping up to the next level.. It’s a no-no,” I said and Nelo dropped her knife. She looked at me seriously and then sat down.

“I love you, Ada. I do and always do..so do your brother and your Dad. We love you and we can guarantee you that we will always be there for you, but time will never stop. We will have our own lives and the idea of you being alone in the future is something that we all can’t imagine, Ada.”

“We once had a meeting to arrange marriage with someone but your brother really tried to think of ways to be happy because being alone is not you and we don’t want to see you like this forever.” She said gesturing to my whole body.

“I’m so happy for you that you tried to open up to Ckay. He’s a great guy, you and I both know that. Listen…a guy like him is one in a million. If you let him ship, I bet you will regret it.” She said as she got up from her chair walking towards the fridge.

“Nelo, see relationship or love is a two ways things. It’s a big deal and please stop forcing me. You, Kings, and Dad. Let me be alone because I know I can and it’s better for me this way,” I said and Nelo walked back with a bottle of water.

“All I want you to do is give Ckay a chance. If something bad happens to you and Ckay, we will stop trying to set you up with people and we will stop forcing you to have someone.”

“Nelo…,”
“A chance. One chance is enough. A real one please.” Nelo said and I looked at my cake blankly and turned to Nelo again.

“I know where this will end, Nelo. Do you want to see me breaking down again?” I asked her and she nodded.

“You're such a b!tch,” I hissed coldly and she smirked. She suddenly got up again from her chair and pulled me into my room. She opened my closet and took out my favorite grey bodycon dress.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

“Strip,” she said and I looked at her annoyed.

“You sound just like him,” I said and her eyes widened. She squealed so loudly and I looked at her in disbelief.

“Stop!”

“Did he say strip to you once? Was it when you guys had sex?” she teased and I smacked her arm.

“What is it for?”

“Wear it!”

“No!”

“Wear it!”

“No! What are you doing? She’s attacking me by pulling my shirt and kicking my legs.

“Nelo!”

“Get in the fu*king dress!” She said and I glared at her. I obeyed her and she smirked at me big time. She grabbed my hand and dragged me out of my room.

She grabbed my phone and pushed me towards the door. She kicked me out of my own apartment.

“What just happened?” I said to myself and I tried to press the lock button but Nelo turned it off from the inside.

“Nelo! This is not funny!” I said as I banged on the door.

“Nelo!!!”

“Go to Ckay and apologize! Follow the backdoor!” She said from the inside.

“No!”

“Go or you can bang the door so hard until your hand hurt instead of going to Ckay.”

I sat down on the ground in front of my door waiting but Nelo was hella serious.
She locked me for one hour already and my phone was going to die and I was hungry. My phone was 3℅. So, I decided to call Ckay.

“Hello.”

“Where are you?” I asked right away.

“Hi… I'm good. How are you?” I raised my eyebrows when he answered weirdly.

“Ckay… Where are you?”

“Apartment,” he said flatly and I ended the call. I walked toward the back door. I found myself gradually walking down the stairs already, and soon I was standing in front of Ckay's apartment's door thinking whether I should open it by pressing the bell.

Suddenly, the door opened, revealing Ckay still in his pajamas.

“What are you doing?” His eyes went from head to toe.

“Where are you going?” He asked.

“I just want to say sorry for what happened yesterday,” I said and he looked at me confused.

“What? What happened yesterday?” He asked and that made me…shit! What should I answer?”

“Nothing,” I said and ready to go but he caught my hand. He pulled inside his apartment. He closed the don’t and looked at me again.

“Your dress…you are barefooted too. What are you trying to do?” He asked.

“Borrow a charger,” I said and he looked at me in disbelief.


~ Ckay's POV ~

I looked out the window drinking my water, trying to distract myself to not loom at Ada. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. I kept repeating that because I was trying to calm my emotions down.

Episode 16

~ Adannaya's POV ~

“I told you to cover me up yesterday right? Do you remember that?” Ada suddenly stood beside me.

“What about it?”

“He’s the guy that I told you yesterday. His name is Dike James.”

So, I’m not really in the mood. She destroyed my mood yesterday and I’m still so pissed at her today. it’s really amazing how she affected my emotions. Damn it!

“Just wanted to tell you that I’m borrowing your charger. I will give it back to you later on,” She said.

How dare she go away just like that? I caught her hand before she could go.
“What?” She asked.

“Where are you going?” I asked looking at her from head to toe once again.

“None of your business,” She said and I raised my eyebrows.

“Where are you going wearing a dress like this?” I asked.

“What exactly do you want?” She asked as she turned to me pulling her hand from my grip. She crossed her arms in front of her chest looking at me waiting for an answer.

“What do you mean by that?”

“The words that you said yesterday.”

“Nothing.”

“Okay,” She said turning her body again but before she could fully turn, I put her into my arms.

“I don’t know since when…but I just want more,” I said honestly as I was still hugging her.

“I am not one of those who will just leave you, Ada,” I said because that was the truth. it’s always been the other way around. People that I dated before left me.

“I came here not to borrow your charger but to apologize… sorry for being a little rude yesterday,” She said and I smiled. I released the hug and looked at her.
“Say it again.”

“I'm not repeating anything,” she said, shaking her head. I slowly leaned down my head towards her and she didn’t back away or try to hit me. I kissed her cheek and I patted her head.

“How about you accompany me to my office to drop some files? We could go eat lunch after that,” I asked and she nodded.

“You can go get ready upstairs, but please don’t wear this dress,” I said as I gestured to her dress.

“Okay,” she said and I walked to my door.

“Go,” I said and she nodded. But before she opened the door, I gave her my sandal so doesn’t have to be barefooted.

“Thanks,” she said and left.

I jumped into the shower and I swear I couldn’t help but to smile like an idi*t. I was just happy that she was willing to open up after one month of ups and down for me.

We were entering our five weeks and I can’t say if I was completely successful, but I did my best.

I walked out of the shower and got ready. I waited for a moment before going open because I knew girls always need more time to get ready than boys.
I texted her to tell me if she was ready. I took the papers that I needed to drop at the office and I kept them beside me, so I won’t forget them.

After 30 minutes of waiting, she texted me back· and I quickly put on my shoes and walked out of my apartment. I walked up to Ada’s floor.
Why is my heart beating so fast? Sudden oh boy.

I walked out from the staircase and was right in front of Ada's door. I pressed the doorbell, and the door opened revealing Nelo. She smiled widely at me.

“Hey, how are you?” She asked.

“I’m good and you?”

“I’m just busy with work. You are here to pick Ada, right? She asked and I nodded. She called Ada while I waited for her —standing near the door.

“Can you please put the cake inside the fridge?”

When Ada walked towards me, it felt like a slow motion. She was wearing denim jeans with a white shirt that look is like every guy's fantasy.

“You are drilling,” Nelo said in a small tone. I closed my mouth and try to look away.

“Let’s go.” I turned to Ada and nodded. Nelo gave me a big smirk. She gave me a kissy face behind Ada. I looked at her in disbelief and she winked at me.

“Have fun,” she teased.

“Bye,” Ada said and I waved at her.

We walked towards the staircase and my eyes couldn’t stop looking at her because damn… Earlier, it was a grey tight dress, and now, a white shirt and jeans.

“Is that the file?”

“Yes,” I said as we walked down the stairs.

“Your drawing?” She asked and I nodded.

“What do you want to eat for lunch?” I asked

“Do you have something in mind?” She asked me back.

“Fried rice and salad. Do you like it?” I asked as I turned to her.

“Yes,” She answered and at the same time, we arrived at the parking lot. We walked together to the car. I put on my seat belt and she put on hers. started my car and drove towards my office.

“Do you mind coming with me to my office?” I asked.

“Okay.”

“If you are uncomfortable, you can wait in the car,” I said but I was hoping that she comes because I wanted to show her my office.

“Can I see your drawings?” She asked and that made me smile.

“You will fall in love with it, better watch out.”

“We will see about that.”

~ Ckay's POV ~

When I stepped into the office, everyone’s eyes were on Ada. I don’t blame them because Ada is beautiful and the fact that she was wearing a white shirt and jeans adds up everything. I felt her trying to get close to me when she saw everybody looking at her. I held her hand and walked towards Paul’s office to hand him my work.

“Hey buddy, you brought someone,” Paul said when he saw Ada.
Ada, this is my best friend, Paul. Paul, this is Ada.”

Paul smiled and put his hand in front of her. She shook it and she just smiled.

“Nice to meet you, Ada. Thanks for this,” Paul said as he gestured to my papers.

“Ckay, can we talk for a minute?” I turned to Ken who was waving his hand at me. I nodded and I turned to Ada.

“Is it okay if I leave you for a couple of minutes? You can sit at my office and wait for me.” I suggested.

“Or maybe stay in my office,” I turned to Paul who appeared out of nowhere.

“No, ” I glared at Paul.

“Don’t mind him. You are coming with me,” I said and we walked together towards Ken.

“Ckay, you brought your girlfriend,” he said and I just gestured to him not to talk. I turned to Ada for a second to make sure that she was okay.

“About the future projects that are coming up, they want you to have the meeting in Uyo. Who do you want to send? or maybe you want to go?” he asked as he gave me the file about the details of the future projects.

I looked at the date and turned to Ada.

“I will send Dave and Louis,” I said.

“Uhmm…I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Ken said and I raised my eyebrows.

“Why not?”

“Dave and Louis will cause World W@r 3,” Ken said and I chuckled.

“It’s okay. He has to learn to consider other people. Just send them both, and please handle things when I’m not here today. I have some important things to do,” I said, gesturing to Ada.

“Ok. Nice to meet you, Ada,” Ken said

“Uhmm. Nice to meet you too,” Ada said awkwardly. I smiled at Ken and gave him a small hug before going.

“Ready to eat?” I asked Ada.

“I want to see your work,” she said and we stopped walking. I smiled at her and brought her to my office room. There was a big table to present my work, and I let her stand beside it while I was taking some of my work out. I put it on the table and open the papers, letting her see my drawings.

Her eyes widened and she began to see one by one. She didn't say anything but her eyes just told everything.

“It's beautiful,” she said in a small tone.

“Thank you,” I said and she suddenly took one big piece of paper putting it on the top.

“This house… it’s so beautiful,” she said as she puts her finger on it.

“Yeah, it is,” I said and she nodded.

“You love it? Do you want to see the real-life work?” I asked and she looked up at me nodding.

“Let’s have lunch and see that house. How about that?” I asked.

“Okay,” She said and she took out her phone to take a picture of it.

“Let’s go,” she said and I put my hand out in front of her. She looked at it for a second, and she slowly gave her hand to me. I smiled and we walked out of my office together.

“Are you nervous seeing new people?” I asked.

“Yes, I’m not good at socializing,” she answered and I patted her arm.

“Let’s go eat pizza,” I said and she nodded.

We got into the car and drove a few blocks from there. I parked my car and we got out. We entered the restaurant and I could see that she was happy to go there.

There weren't a lot of people there because it was already 2:00 PM, so it was comfortable for she and I to just sit wherever we wanted.

“What do you usually eat?”

“Grills or pizza. They are the best,” she said and I chuckled seeing her looking at the menu excitingly.

“You can choose and I will trust you since you are half Igbo.

“Stop saying that. it’s weird.”

“What?”

“The half-Igbo thing,” she said and I smiled. I put my elbows on the table and rested my head on my head looking at her.

“I’m not comfortable with you looking at me like that,” he said.

“Why? you are hot,” I said and her eyes widened.

“Stop.”

“You are beautiful and your outfits add everything up,” I said.

“I’m not wearing revealing clothes, okay? Stop acting like I’m naked or something.”

“Hey, let me tell you…white shirts and jeans are guy's wildest dream. We, men, love to see women in this,” I said gesturing to her.

“You are weird.”

“You don’t believe me, huh?”

“I don’t, because you have weird eyes and taste,” she said.

“Really? What should I do to make you believe?”

“Nothing and you can't..,”

“Really? What if I say that… I really want to kiss you ever since you showed up with that,” I said and she looked at me completely speechless.

“You believe me now? I asked and she just ignored me.

The food came and we started to grill the meat ourselves. She looked so happy seeing the meats being grilled and she ordered herself a can of soft drink.

“What's your plan for today? Work? I asked.

“No..just want to chill. You?”

“Me too. Let’s chill together. I said and she shook her head.

“No. Not a great idea.”

“Come on, stop pushing me away,” I said with a little p!ssed tone.

“How can I not?”

“What? Is it because of what I said yesterday? I asked and she just made herself busy by eating.

God help me find a way to get this girl with me tonight.

Episode 17 (Unedited)

~ Adannaya's POV ~

“I’m ready for Netflix and chill,” I said as we walked through the stairs. Ckay already said he would drop me off and then leave.

I walked towards my apartment and I was frozen when I saw Nelo's note on the door, and it read thus: I locked your door and went with the key. So, you should stay with Ckay tonight.

— Nelo.

I looked at it in disbelief and tried turning the door handle but it didn’t open. That sly b!tch! I decided to call Nelo but she didn’t even answer the call.
I sighed and decided to call Kings because his wife was such a bad b!tch. I waited for him to answer the call but he didn’t answer.

“Well… I guess you’re staying with me?” He said and I nodded.

I didn’t have any other choice and I can’t tell why. I was a little bit tired. We just went out for lunch, but my energy levels were already zero. We walked down to Ckay's floor.

“It's still 3:30 and you want to chill?” Ckay asked and I nodded.

I sat on his sofa and turned on the TV. I was acting like I was in my own apartment. I sat comfortably on the sofa and Ckay came to me with a glass of water. I drank it a little and put it on the table in front of me.

"You can turn on Netflix," he said and I nodded.

"Oh, 50 Shades of Grey."

"Pervert," I said and he turned to me in disbelief.

"You mean perfect," he said and I laughed.

"That's lame but it's okay," I said still laughing and he just said I should turn anything I want.

Suddenly, he took out another remote and pressed it. The curtains went down and the lights went off suddenly. It felt like we were watching a movie in the cinema.

"Wow."

"You're welcome," he said arrogantly and I chuckled.

I started to find a movie that I love and I eventually picked Iron Man 3. The movie started and I was so excited to watch it.

"Here," suddenly Ckay sat next to me and wrapped us in a big soft blanket.

"Thanks," I said but my eyes were still stuck on the movie. I love RDJ he’s my man, and if I’m going to marry someone it will be him.

"I love Pepper," Ckay said.

"I love Tony."

"You can have him. I can have her," Ckay said and I turned to him. My eyes widened when his face was so close to mine that I didn’t realize that until I turned to him.

"Ada," I said and turned straight to the TV again

My body froze when Ckay slowly crept his hand to mine. My body went numb when he successfully held me. I wanted to push his hands so badly or maybe get m@d at him, but I couldn’t. Some part of me wanted to give in but I couldn't.
Some part of me wanted to give him a chance even though another part of me h*ted it.

"What do you like about Tony Stark?" asked and I turned to him slowly.

"He is realistic and I love that he’s smart even though he’s arrogant," I answered as I looked into his eyes.

"I agree," he smiled and I found that smile fake.

"Thank you, Ada, for letting me in and letting me get to know you," he said out of nowhere and I couldn’t reply to that.

Actually, I still don’t know why I let him into my life, but somehow I didn’t regret it. Nelo's words rang inside my head again and that made me think a little more.
Not only Nelo's words but Ckay's words came out again.

Can I really be happy and start over? The feeling of it wasn't that bad. It was beyond my expectation but it was refreshing.

"Tony Starks parents passed away and he stood up in his cruel words by himself. That’s one of the things that I love about him," I said honestly.

"I wish I can be like him. Try not to care about the past and move on which is so hard for me," I added and turned to Ckay. He was already looking at me and he smiled.

"You are not alone, so does he. No one is alone in this world, Ada. You have me you have your dad your brother and Nelo.

"Why do you believe that I can get through this?" I asked because he was the one who was trying to push me out of this.

"Everyone in this world deserves to be happy and you are one of them. If I can, why can’t you?" He answered and that answer really made me feel better. My eyes landed on his lips and back to his eyes real quick.

I leaned my head closer to him and put my lips to his. I kissed him slowly and he kissed me back at the same pace. He pulled my body to his lap without breaking the kiss and he wrapped his arms around my waist. I put my hands on his chest still kissing him slowly.

I felt the warmness blending throughout my body, and all I wanted to do was just put everything behind me, but somehow some part of me couldn’t let it go. I slowly moved with him as he tried to lay me on the sofa. We just kept kissing nonstop without no one saying anything.

We let our bodies express what they really want. Ckay didn’t try anything on me. He didn’t try to roam his hand all over me which I was thankful that he didn’t. I was just starting to open up and take it slowly and it suited me.

I stopped him by pushing his body away we both sat facing each other awkwardly. I felt my body hitting up wanting more.

So, I slowly unbuttoned my shirt and his eyes widened. My eyes never left him and so does his eyes too. I threw away my shirt when I was fully unbuttoned and slowly unclasped my bra

"Ada, don’t tempt me, please," he said in a husky voice, but I wasn’t planning on just making him stop. I wanted him to test it again for the second time.

"Did I say that I was going to take it slow did I?"

I slipped away from Ckay and walked towards the window. I bit my lips and took a really deep breath before letting it out. Starting a new page? Will he be worth it in the end?

One thing that I was scared of is being left again. I lost my mom once, Dike too and if I give my heart to Ckay, can I be guaranteed that he won’t leave me? I know that it won’t be smooth and it was a past journey itself but still, I doubt if he can.

I opened the balcony door slowly and walked out to fill the cold breeze of Calabar at night. But suddenly Ckay rubbed his arms around me from the back.

"I thought you were sleeping?"

"I was looking for you," he answered.

"Is everything okay?" he asked and I turned to him.

"Yeah," I lied and turned back to the view.

"Everything happened so fast between us, isn't it? I opened up to you quicker than I thought," I said honestly.

"I think it is a really good thing."

"Why?

You were hot you wear alone you were lonely and no one could reach you because they give up as they saw that stick was you are not easy to reach people have to earn your trust that’s all you are still your old order you are just covering up it up he said and I turned to him

"How come you know me better than I know myself?"

"Just observing," he said smiling and I chuckled. I moved closer to him and he wrapped his arms around my waist. He leaned down his head to mine and we kissed slowly.

"Wanna take a warm bath together and maybe talk?" He asked and I nodded he got a big tub that could fit three people which was unique for a guy. He started to fill the tub with warm water and he walked to me.

He took off his shirt that I wore and gestured to me to get inside first.
I got into the tub and he walked back to me with a bath soap on his hand. He puts it in and he got in after taking off his boxer.

"What's on your mind? Are you okay?" he asked and I looked at him shaking.

"I don’t know where we are going after this step. I don’t know where it will end too," I said truthfully.

"Live in the moment," he said and I shook my head not understanding.

"What will happen tomorrow, let it be tomorrow. What will happen next week, let it be next week. Enjoy the moment and just be grateful and happy," he smiled and I looked at the water blankly.

"You are doing great until now, Ada. You are so much better than the day that I met you.

"Really?" I asked because I never expected that. I thought it would be the same.

"Yeah and I know it’s not easy for you but you’re almost there," he said as he took my hand.

"Do you trust me? he asked and I gulped. I trusted him but some part of me doesn’t.

"Do you want to be my girlfriend? he asked and my whole body just turned numb. My eyes looked at him like he was growing another head. My lips were frozen and nothing came out of my mouth.

"Let's try this relationship, what do you think?"

"Ckay, being in a relationship means?" I asked him.

"Yes, for the past month, we have got to know each other. You hated me at first and we started to develop a good friendship. I started to get more attracted and feel a little jealous finding out that there is another man that you are close with other than your dad and brother. I didn’t like that. It really bothers me, and I know the fact that you don’t want this and you don't have a really good experience with relationship but I want to take a risk. I want to try it with you," he said and that made me speechless. I never expected him to say things like that. I was happy but also worried.

"I...I can’t guarantee that I can make you happy, like other girls."

I know that’s what makes you different and I like it he smiled and I look down at the water again battling with my own thoughts

"Give me a chance. Give yourself a chance too. What do you think? he asked as he held on to both of my hands. looked into his eyes and found myself saying yes. He hugged me immediately and I found myself smiling.

"Thank you, that really means a lot to me," he said and I never thought a word 'yes' will make someone this happy. He kissed me again and sat me on his lap.

"I think we should take our bath quickly. I'm a bit cold," I said and he nodded.

We quickly finished it and walked to his bedroom. He closed the balcony door and I sat on his bed.

"What time do you go to work tomorrow?" I asked

"Around 10. Why do you ask?"

"Nothing just asking."

"Let's have lunch together you can come to my office and we can go together as that he asked and I smiled nodding

"Let's sleep," he said as he pulled me close. He wrapped me in his arm, and I closed my eyes. I felt the warmness around my body and it felt good.

Okay, let's just take a risk it might be so new to me but you will never know.

Episode 18

~ Ckay's POV ~

I woke up because my alarm alerted me. I quickly turned it off and got up from the bed. I saw Ada still sleeping and I couldn’t help but smile. She is my girlfriend now and I bet everything will fall into place. I kissed her cheek and quickly went to the bathroom to wash my face. I brushed my teeth and quickly put on my work clothes.
I sat beside Ada and kissed her forehead before heading out. I walked out of my room and got frozen when I saw my parents in my living room.

"Why are you guys here?" I asked them and they gave me an I–caught–you–look.

"We are here to drop some stuff for you," my mom said pointing at the bags on the kitchen table.

"What is it?"

"So, you and Ada...," my dad started and I gestured to him not to talk about it but he seems very happy.

"So, you and her...?" My mom asked in a small tone.

"Yeah, but please keep it down she’s asleep," I said and smirked.

"Let’s go out. I’m going to work," I said as I scooped them both together towards the door.

"So happy for you," my mom squealed.

text mom but we just got together so please don’t be too excited," I said truthfully and my mom nodded. We all walked out of my apartment and I was going to work anyway.

I drove to my office and was smiling like an idi*t every second. I couldn’t describe how I felt but I knew that I like Ada even though the feelings weren't that strong yet because we just started this.

After parking my car, I went up to my office and started the meeting right away. We were currently talking about the ongoing projects two weeks ago and we were still far from finishing it. I have this sketch but still needed a lot of fixing.
Then, I felt my phone vibrating and I took it out of my pocket. I smiled when I saw Ada's name on the screen.

"Just got up. I have a meeting until 2. Are you still up for lunch?" I replied to her that we can still eat lunch together. I put my phone back and concentrated back to my meeting.

After an hour of meeting, we were done.

"Let's go have lunch together," Dave said to Paul and I.

"Sorry, I’m going to have lunch with my girlfriend," Paul said and Dave turned to me.

"Me too," I said as I gathered all my files in front of me.

"What do you mean by me too? Are you joining Paul?" Dave asked

"Uhm, yeah."

Paul looked at me confused.

"I'm going to have lunch with my girlfriend too," I said and Paul closed the door. Dave looked at me raising his eyebrows.

"The girl that you brought here yesterday?" Dave asked.

"Yes," I nodded.

"That's the girl that we…,"

"Yes," so shut it," I said and Dave seems to want to know more. I walked out of the meeting room and went back to my office. I decided to finish up my work before Ada comes here.

Someone busted into the office and I turned my head to see Dave.

"Are you serious you now have a girlfriend?" he asked.

"Yes, Dave," I said as I continued to do my work.

"Why?"

"What do you mean why?"

"You are making me more lonely. Who will I eat lunch with now?"

"That’s why you need a girlfriend," I said as I kept sketching on my computer.

"Girlfriend will be a pain in my @ss," he hissed.

"You will love it. How about you and Mel? I asked chuckling.

"Every time we see each other, we always end up fighting or k!ling each other," he said in an angry tone making me laugh.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door and I said: "Come in pretty."

"Ckay."

I turned to the door immediately towards Ada and I couldn’t help but smile. I stood up from my chair and walked towards the door. I kissed her cheek and she greeted me with a smile.

"You are early," I said.

"Yeah, the meeting finished early so….," she said and her eyes landed on Dave.

Dave stood up and he walked towards us.

"I'm Dave, this 'mumu's friend," he said laughing.

"I'm Adannaya. You can call me Ada."

They shook hands for a second and then Dave excused himself. He seriously needed to find a girlfriend.

"Are you still busy?" she asked as she looked at my desk with all the papers everywhere.

"A little… do you want to see me work? Give me 15 minutes and we will head out for lunch," I said and she nodded.

I grabbed her hand and closed the door with the other hand. I led her towards my desk and took another chair for her to sit beside me.

"Sit here," I said and she sat down. I sat on my chair and started to finish my work.

"What is that small room for?" she asked pointing at a small room inside the house.

"The client wanted to build a small room for his dogs. He has seven big dogs.

"Will they fix in there?" she asked and I turned to her smiling.

"Yes, it seems a little small in the sketch but it will be bigger when it is done. I said and she nodded. I turned back to my work and continued to finish it.

"How is your work?"

"It was Okay," she answered

"What do you want to eat?"

"Fish and chips, maybe. How about you?"

"I'm okay with everything," I answered and decided to rest for a while. I checked on the sketch and then I turn to Ada who still locked her eyes on the screen. I gave her a peck on the lips and she turned to me.

"What?

"You look so cute," I said and she looked at me narrowing her eyes. I leaned my head toward her and kissed her slowly. She put her hands on my face cupping it to deepen the kiss.

"Come here," I pulled her into my lap and continued working. I leaned my head to her arm and smelled her sweet jasmine scent.

"Will you stay with me again tonight?" I asked.

"No."

“Why?” I asked.

"One night is enough," she said and I pouted.


~ Ckay's POV ~

"So what do you want to eat?" I asked as we worked at Times Square. It was her idea to stroll around and since I had no important schedule after this. I was Okay with strolling around.

"Fish and chips."

"Right...let's go dear. I know one place," I said as we waited for the cross-right lights.
"Are you proud of yourself when you see the results of your design?" Ada asked as she puts her phone inside her pocket.

"Yes, and I’m so proud to make someone happy to live in whatever I made and designed."

"If I have extra money I will hire you," she said and I chuckled nodding.

"Good to know. Come on," I said as we arrived at the restaurant. I opened the door for her and she walked inside. We sat at the empty table and started to look at the menu.

"Do you want the regular fish and chips?" I asked.

"Yes and some chicken wings," she said and I nodded. We ordered two fish and chips and chicken wings. While we waited for the food, I decided to ask something that I was curious about.

"I bet a lot of guys hit on you. I mean you are beautiful and sexy, and I bet many men are lining up," I asked and she suddenly tried to take something out of her bag. I raised my eyebrows when she took out a ring.

"Wear this and no one will h!t me," she said as she put the ring on. I chuckled and nodded completely amused with her idea.

"Nice, you can wear that when you’re not with me," I said.

"If you are worrying, you will have a competitor you won’t. No one is interested in me like that. Before they can approach me, I already blew them away," she said and shook her head.

"I don’t believe that. Actually, when I saw you entering that bar, you hypnotized me," I said truthfully and she raised her eyebrows.

"Stay at my place tonight. I will let you go tomorrow. How is that?" I asked and she looked at me flatly.

"I have work to do."

"You can bring your work to my apartment."

"I need to be alone when I’m working."

"Ada, I’m a little needy today," I said.

"Needy?"

"If you are a little needy, you can tell me and I’ll be there for you. If you miss me, you can tell me too. I’ll run to you right away."

"Huh?" Even though you are in another country?" she asked and I nodded.

"That's impossible," she laughed it off.

"I'm serious. Just say the magic words."

"What's the magic word?" She asked.

"I miss you, Ckay. I need you Ckay. I want you Ckay. Trust me, I’ll be there for you in no time," I smiled at her and she chuckled.

"I think I’ll never need that. You will be the one who will say those words.
"Oh, I will and you need to be there for me," I smirked and put my pinky in front of her.

"Promise?" I asked.

"What if I’m busy?"

"You need to come to me —and like now I’m a little bit needy. So you have to stay with me tonight and give me cuddles. I said and she looked at me awkwardly.

"Come on," I said gesturing at my pinky. She agreed and wrapped her pinky with mine.

"That’s my girl," I patted her head.

"I’m still a little bit awkward with this situation and a little bit uncomfortable," she said honestly and I nodded.

"It’s okay. You'll adapt to it soon. You are doing great," I said and she nodded. She does a little bit awkward actually. Whenever I hold her hands, it get so tense that I could feel that she was not used to it. She usually doesn't get excited when I kissed her cheek or pat her head. I mean I’m not blaming her, this is her first time and I’m glad I will be the one who’s going to make her more comfortable each day.

She was learning, even though it won’t be easy for her but I really appreciate how she tried dealing with it. Never been easy from the start but I’m glad that it was starting to get easier from now on.

"Here is your fish and chips and chicken wings." The waiter brought out the food, and oh boy, it looked so yummy!

"Don’t eat it right away! It's so hot," I said warning her and she nodded. She cut her fish and started to blow it out. I chuckled looking at her.

We started to eat and talked about work, our favorite music, and even movies. I learned more about Ada that way.

After we finished eating, I drove her back to the apartment. When we arrived there, she was going to go out without me anyways.

"Babe, not so fast," I grabbed her arm preventing her to go out. She turned to me confused.

"Give me a kiss," I said and she gave me her cheek instead of kissing me. I chuckled and let her get away.

"Thanks for the lunch," she said before trying to close the door.

"I want you to stay with me tonight, remember that."

"Oh! I think I have an ear problem bye."

She closed the door and walked towards the building. I chuckled seeing her, because damn, she looked cute. Before she could enter it, I decided to call her line. She looked confused when she saw the screen and she turned to me. She picked it up anyway and I laughed.

"What?" She asked.

"Can you wave to me or maybe blow kisses?"

"You can go to work Mr. Man."

"Come on. I won’t stop calling you," I said and she stood there waving.

"Happy now?"

"Fine, I will see you tonight."

"Okay."

"Bye," I ended the call and she put her phone back into her bag. She waved at me one last time and walked into the building.

Now I’m ready to continue to work.
