If I tell you the story of my own town you will also know

The future is very clear. With our human resources and gas, we will always be good. Then we will channel our maritime activities towards Akwa-Cross to Abia-Imo.

Then we will see what their bragging rights will be about. I see ijaws claiming half of p.h in the coming years. They're already doing so gradually.

Exactly, The Asari ,Topology power will reduce. The most annoying is that River state don't even have much oil like Akwa Ibom ,Delta etc but makes more noise.

Firstly, you could not even spell Obio Akpor so I assume you are in one okpa shop in Abakpa typing none sense.

Your miserable parents that told you about‘abandoned property’ forgot to tell you that they were brazen thieves who were stealing other peoples land and developing same with stolen government money. They were sharing government money as ‘loan’ never to be repaid, only to Igbo people through ACB. Go tell them to tell you the truth.

Guy you know your History!!!!

Azikiwe used his Power as Eastern Region Premier to Acquire the Eastern Region Minorities Land by force and redistributed the Land among his Friends and Kinsmen using his ACB bank

That led to the Abandoned Property Saga after the War when the Indigenes took their forcefully acquired lands back

90% Igbo inhabitants, yes; but does that make it an Igbo town? If Okota is 80% inhabited by Igbos does that make Okota and Igbo town or an annexation?

Their grouse here according to what I read is that the they ‘deserved to be consulted’ on the state creation but you have chosen to twist the story to promote your narrative
Bros God bless you. The Okirikans, Kalabari, Ogoni people know who the Igbos are. These people suffered the maltreatment of the minorities by the Igbos just as the ikwerres suffered. Ikwerres can't be accepted in Rivers if these other minorities viewed them as Igbos.
Asari knows those his father bought as slaves. Ikwerre is only about two kilometers from Kalabari yet there is no history of been enslaved as Asari noted.

They like telling their stories from the middle because that’s the only way to be seen as the ‘victims’

This thread is to establish the sentiments of Ikwerre people before the civil war through a dated publication.
The result? Ikwere started denying being igbo after the war

It's also because of oil politics

I was actually waiting for someone to bring this up.

If Amaechi claims to be Igbo, what about his community? Does it now make his hometown Igbo? Does it also make everyone from his place Igbo?

Is Amaechi now the mouthpiece of his people on this issue? Because he made that claim, will his people automatically become Igbos?

Just to let you know, that claim by Amaechi was politically motivated. I don't want to go too far, let me update you with an event that happened just last year.

When he appeared before the Fulanis to appeal to them about his presidential ambition, he said it clearly that he's not Igbo.

Hear him yourself: https://twitter.com/OneJoblessBoy/status/1529763447809970176?t=50vqzesCpNnNQhcuUGQe5w&s=19

The people you're quotating how do they represent the whole people too

Same amaechi that went as far as adding rotimi to his name is telling you he's igbo you're crying

You guys should rest.

Ikwerre is not Igbo. As a matter of fact no part of Rivers state is Igbo. Not one grain of sand in Rivers land belongs to you Igbos.

Try to twist history as you like, everybody knows their history. You can't try to tell somebody else their history.

The same way nobody forced Biafra on you is how nobody will force Igbo on any Rivers tribe. When any tribe is ready to identify with another tribe, they will do so freely, without coercion, without propaganda.

But until then know this and know peace, no part of Rivers state is Igbo.

Does the Igboman have bad reputation in Nigeria, yes! But that is because of Nigerians' ignorance. The Igbo has not been aggressive (never been violent) nor retrogressive (not backward).
Ikwere knows they are igbo is a good revelation from you, and that's what this thread wants to expose

Whether Ikwere people know they are Igbos or not, what matters is that they have said time and again that they are not Igbos, and that is what I would like you to understand and respect for one obvious reason: their detachment from Igbos has not taken anything away from us, and on the long run, they are still the ones who will regret it.
And point of correction, civil war was not what made them deny being Igbo, rather, it was the discovery of crude oill on their soil.
