Most assets sold by Pa Obj are now depleted so this refineries sale should not be the only option on the table. Jimoh Ibrahim said more than this then but we know the rot he is currently being tried for. He was parading himself then as tax expert too but all na wash. No real character.

I see reason advanced that we should secure our mational energy assets. The real issue is now how we can secure without losing control yet run it efficiently. If it requires everyone to work there to swear before Ogun to kill him or her if he or she abuses our national trust so be it. Prof Wande Abimbola once advocated this measure because they will be struck by thunder immediately they betray the trust.

We need creative and potent way to solve this Refinery problem. All options must be on the table including those found frustrating us should be tried to face death penalty.

Foolish talk, why's that what brings blessings to others is always a curse to us? If Nigeria can't manage the refineries they should allow the white to come and manage it for us as usual.

What Oloyede said is nothing but the bitter truth. But Nigerians prefer hearing lies so the government keep on telling them that the refineries will work SOON.

Any knowledgeable person knows that the best thing for us as a country is to sell the refineries. But labour will always oppose it because their PENGASSAN members are benefiting enormously from the comatose state of the refineries and the billions of dollars we have spent in the so called Turn Around Maintenance.

Look at the previously moribund Port Harcourt Petrochemicals Company that the sale was opposed by Labour. It is now Indorama and it has never stopped working since its sale. They pay billions of naira annually as dividends to the federal government, Rivers State government and the host community, Eleme. If the bluff of Labour was not called, it would have still remained moribund and a drain on our economy like the refineries.

Now, it will even be hard for us to find a buyer for the refineries considering that they are hardly suited for the present business climate of refineries in which a major consideration now is the economics of scale. We had a lifeline when Obasanjo sold two of the refineries to Dangote and Otedola for 700 million dollars. But Labour forced Yaradua to reverse the sale and here we are today still talking about them. That was the dumbest decision, in my opinion, that Yaradua made in his short lived presidency.

Even if those refineries start to work, it won't be long before they pack up again. Government can not manage the refineries. That is the truth that we have to face instead of living in denial. The only logical solution is to sell them, that is if we can get a buyer now.

I know marketers will never agree on this issue, they FG if sale it to private company the refinery will start operation and they can't make money again they prefer take crude to abroad refine it and sale it back to Nigeria.

Instead of repairing the refineries and entrenching good management, we should pray they don't work at all?

Even developed countries hardly have government owned refineries because public corporations never work efficiently anywhere in the yet Nigerian like you would rather manage inefficiency than to allow the private sector drive the economy.

What is treasonable about what he said?

Taiwo's submission was based on facts. He referred to the NA's findings that over N10trillion has been spent yet the refineries are not working.

So the smart and obvious conclusion is to move control of the refinery operations away from Government to private investors who know how to run things.

Selling the refineries doesn't mean refining will not be done in Nigeria. The assets are here and the owners will operate them here, just like Shell and other multinationals do. Or it may even be local investors, so Nigeria is not losing value but rather optimizing it.

They have started again. First it was remove subsidy and float the naira and all our problems will be over. We are all witnessing the result of these policies. Now we should not repair our refineries We have very dumb but vocal people in Nigeria, which is part of our biggest challenges.

He is right bro. .. what he meant is that if the government that cannot fix the refineries in many years are to run the same refineries, their lacklustre attitudes and criminal activities will make it difficulty hence the potential increment in the price. Instead of that , government should privatize the refineries and hand off completely. That's a good suggestion dear brother.

He is very correct. We need to sell those refineries.repairing is waste of time.wat we need is to build new ones those refineries are too old n inefficient. Also ,NNPC being an NOC can never properply manage their production efficiently. NNPC is an employment venture.
