New York [RR] AWKA–This article
and a previous one titled: Biafra
and Islamic Nigeria were
originally written as one. They
can be read as such for more
detailed background information
on this topic.
Let’s look at it like this in regard
to why all Igbo/Biafra leaders
and politicians have no excuse as
to why they cannot champion
the Biafran cause. Some few
years back when Abiola’s election
was nullified by Babangida’s
administration in Nigeria Igbo/
Biafra people were at the
forefront of those who
campaigned for justice in that
matter. That was a good thing to
do. Abiola was from a different
ethnic group in Nigeria with no
much love lost between them
and Igbo/Biafra nation; the
Yoruba nation of the Southwest
of Nigeria. Sometimes it really
becomes irreconcilable to watch
some people championing
certain causes when it has to do
with people from the outside
while at the same time these
champions and their close
relations are worse victims of
worse conditions that are crying
for heroic advocates.

Such people find it demeaning or
shameful to project and work to
remedy the situations that
bedevil themselves and their
people while it is easy for them
to feel unashamed when dealing
with similar conditions affecting
other people in other places.
Such attitude can never make
anyone a better or nobler person
any day because evil and
injustice are the same no matter
where they are found. Working
to remedy unjust conditions in
other people’s lives and lands to
the neglect of one’s own
immediate environment and
people can best be described as
the most distorted and negative
form of altruism. Patriotism will
always remain one of the highest
sources of personal/collective
pride. Being ashamed of your
own situation and trying hard to
impress other people by being
involved in their own troubles
while neglecting your own
adverse condition makes one
rather meddlesome than
altruistic.
What we are saying is that the
reality of the Igbo/Biafra
situation in Nigeria is one that
only they themselves are the
ones that will have to champion
it. All the politicians and leaders
and every citizen must get
involved since no one else will do
it for the people and their
Homeland. It is the people’s battle
and they must fight it and they
must win it. Now is the turn of all
Igbo/Biafra people everywhere
to champion the campaign for
freedom and security of their
own people in an enclave that is
exclusively theirs. This is
important. No Igbo/Biafra person
should be ashamed about it. It is
their own people and their
people have every right to exist
here on the planet Earth. No one
else has the right to run them off
the Earth’s surface based on the
fact that they hate them for
being different.
In all honesty Igbo/Biafra people
can never one day be accepted in
Nigeria neither will their lives and
property ever become secured by
the Nigerian state and its people.
The people of Biafra need a state,
a country of their own where
they will be free to lead their lives
in a society where they are loved,
accepted and secured and have
the liberty to pursue those things
that fulfill them as human beings.
In this land; Biafra Land they will
not need to live in constant fear
and actual destruction of their
lives and property. In their own
country they will be in charge of
their hope, and how to get there.
This is the time that calls for
sound thinking and bold acting
for the sake of the people the
leaders and politicians are
working for. Igbo/Biafran
leaders and politicians must give
up and completely do away with
the attitude of immediate
gratification and the pursuit of
shortsighted and short term
programs. This is the time for
them to seek for immortality. It is
time for them to build up
legacies that last for all time.
All the leaders and politicians
from Igbo/Biafra Land must now
imbibe the attitude of thinking in
terms of positive and lasting
legacies. This is all that matters.
That is what makes the
difference between humans and
beasts: Finding and building
permanent solutions to problems
such as the endemic killings of
Igbo/Biafra people in an
environment and society that
hates them. Take the Igbo/Biafra
people out of Nigeria, give them
a new home, new hope and a
new beginning in a place they
can call their own, in Biafra.
There is nothing to be emotional
about this. There is no point for
anyone to base the life and
future of any one Igbo/Biafran
child on any such thing as
wanting to belong in a Nigeria
that will not accept but continue
to kill and cause them to
continue in a permanent state of
regression all because they want
to be identified as a part of the
absurdity called the most
populous country in Africa.
The most enduring question
remains; why would any Igbo/
Biafra person want to remain in
Nigeria? Nigeria in all
ramifications is an Islamic state;
it is officially a full-fledged
member of the international
organization whose membership
is exclusively for Islamic
countries – Organization of
Islamic Conference, OIC. Half of
the Nigerian country has officially
adopted the Islamic sharia legal
system as the principle on which
their rule of law emanates. Why
should any Igbo/Biafra politician
or leader want to continue
defending the status quo of one-
Nigeria when it is all to the
continued death and destruction
of their people, property and
Homeland? Is it that they want to
maintain the “prestige” of
belonging to the most populous
country in Africa? If any group of
people should base their well-
being, and mortgage the future,
progress, security and prosperity
of their children on such flimsy
absurd reasoning then the sanity
of such people must be
questioned. There will never be
any hope or a future for any
Igbo/Biafra child in Nigeria.
Biafra must get out fast and get
out now from Nigeria.
The certainty is that there will
always be a tomorrow and Igbo/
Biafra politicians and leaders can
choose today to plan the
tomorrow of their children and
that of their children’s children
somewhere outside Nigeria since
it is very certain that there will
never be a tomorrow for these
children in Nigeria. This plan we
are talking about is the
responsibility of the leaders; it is
the duty of the politicians. It is
the raison d’être of all Igbo/
Biafran leaders and politicians.
Biafra’s independence has
become too urgent now than at
any other time in history. The
leaders and politicians can only
ignore this to the shame and
continued destruction and
eventual annihilation of Igbo/
Biafra’s children, women and
men. We plead therefore that this
generation should become
known as the generation that
finally did the right thing; the
generation that saved their
people and freed them and their
Fatherland from the disgrace,
indignity and debasing of the
one-Nigerian state. Let this
generation be known as the
generation that raised high in
pride for the world to see the
bloodied flag of Biafra, Land of
the Rising Sun, and land of our
Fathers. It’s easy; it’s only a
matter of choice. It’s as simple as
choosing to leave the polluted
Nigeria with all its shame,
corruption, ethnic intolerance,
religious bigotry and inhuman
murders of children, women and
men.
Since the precondition for
residency and or citizenship in
the North of Nigeria has been
formally declared as the ability to
recite the Koran the people of
Biafra may never hear a clearer
clarion call than this for the
politicians, leaders and the
people to act with a sense of
urgency. Biafra is and will always
remain the best and natural
answer to Nigeria for Igbo/
Biafran people. A day will never
come when Igbo/Biafra people
and their interests can ever be
protected in Nigeria. The only
condition for the continued
survival of Igbo/Biafra people is
to secure a homeland outside
Nigeria for themselves. It is only
through this way they can have a
responsible sovereign entity that
advocates and fights for their
right and can seek for redress on
their behalf when there is any
perceived injustice whether
within or outside Biafra’s
national boundaries. If there
were a Biafra there will not be a
22 September and if there ever
was one then the home country,
Biafra of the victims would seek
for justice on their behalf. But in
the meanwhile, as the people
await the actualization of the
sovereign and independent state
of Biafra, it is expected that a
collective action for legal redress
for this crime of hate and
religious bigotry of the 22nd of
September, 2011 should be
embarked on. All Igbo/Biafra
rights organizations, lawyers,
state governors, political leaders
and separatist advocate groups
must pursue a conclusive justice
for these Mandala 5 Igbo Victims
of Hate and Ethnic Intolerance.
And at the end, Biafra’s
independence and freedom will
be dedicated to these five heroes
and the millions of others of their
brothers and sisters who have
suffered so much indignity and
death just for being Igbo/
Biafrans.
