Obi moved the financial burden of education from Government to Church and instead of spending on running the schools he was just giving out cheques, computers and buses to support the Church owned schools. He did it in health too. I remember when we argued about it here on Nairaland that some Anambra people were condemning Okorocha for investing too much in schools, building hospitals and free education calling it Almajiri governance. What Peter Obi did has helped his successors who now have less burden from Education as Church is doing it for them.

Compare below his 2009 budget with that of Chimaraoke.
Should we discuss how, under your leadership, Anambra budgeted N5.8 billion and N5.3 billion for the Executive Governor's office in 2009 and 2008, respectively, while the total budget for education was just N2.8 billion?

The way Obi talks about health and education, you would think he spent a lot on capital expenditure for them

Your last point about suffering is one that irks me so I am going to camp out on it. Some of you on both sides of the political divide seem to think you can shame people's choices by pointing to the state of the economy. You can't. Here is why.

Not everybody is suffering, some are content in all seasons, some have more economic resilience in terms of the nature of business or work they do and some have qualifications that enable them prosper or pivot successfully even in times like these.

On the other hand some are job seekers without experience, others have vanity degrees that the market does not want or need and some run businesses that cannot create new value eg businesses that feed off the success of others.

Not every person is suffering and not everyone that is suffering is regretting their choices irrespective of how they voted. It is only the young or those without financial or business model resilience that make the kind of comment you make here. No wealthy or contented person even thinks like this.

What is the purpose of this thread? To tell us that it’s okay to spend 20 Billion on the official residence of the Vice President in a collapsed economy.

Even Lagos has stagnated since after Ambode. Drive around Lagos and see the unprecedented bad roads.

Everytime I hear people talk about Anambra I just laugh.

Peter repositioned that state and despite the visible growth it’s still one of the least indebted compared to Lagos, Delta, PH etc.

Since Obi came onboard the only thing we hear about Education in Nigeria is the award won by students from Anambra. Lagos can’t compete with Anambra in Education and Health.

Industries are springing up everywhere in Anambra. This is the region that fought 30months war. If only Nigeria in General have experienced the growth in and development in Anambra we won’t be in this current mess.

Y’all should keep attacking Peter Obi and Anambra. Maybe that’s the new currency to buy bread and fuel.

Listen, the reason they went on strike was that hospitals, schools were funded but the criminal heads were embezzling the money, ambulances.. Obi had to go through religion (the church) so he made them the chairmen incharge of these hospitals and schools. The criminals were angry and had to go on strike!.. that was when the revolution took place.. now look at the evolution of the health and educational sector in anambra state.. Anambra is leading in these sectors sir!
