In a surprising turn of events, former Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has endorsed incumbent, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) for a second term. Fayose who is still a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made his endorsement public on the 8th of January 2024, at the 60th birthday of his wife, Feyisetan Fayose. A special banner that read "BAO-Again 2026" was on display at the birthday party, with the sponsors of the banner named as "Osoko Political Family".
