The coastal aborigines in Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states (BRAC) have praised former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, for creating the states.

They described the ex-Head of State as their hero.

BRAC said they would forever remain grateful to Gowon for carving out the BRAC states from defunct Eastern Region in line with the yearning and cries of their fathers and mothers.

According to the BRAC states, Gowon is second to the Holy Spirit, by virtue of the respect they have for him.

They said those asking the former Head of State to apologise for his role in the civil war should have a rethink.

A statement by the General Coordinator of BRAC Coastal Aborigines, Doris McDaniels, in response to calls for Gowon to apologise over his role in the civil war, reads:

"It has been brought to our attention the recent insults directed at Gen. Gowon by Igbo apex groups, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)."

"We are deeply offended by their audacity in demanding an apology from Gen. Gowon for his divine role in leading Nigeria to a peaceful end of the war, and delivering the BRAC coastal areas and her people from the genocidal oppression of the Biafran soldiers, preventing further evacuation of the BRAC people from their ancestral homes of the oil rich coastal areas in anticipation of Biafra winning the war." McDaniels, who also urged the Igbo groups to address the atrocities committed by Biafran soldiers against the people of BRAC states, added:

"We are now known as BRAC: Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states. We believe the people talking about Gen. Gowon are not telling the truth. They should speak the truth and hold their warlord, Col. Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, responsible for starting a spontaneous, ill-prepared war with no strategy and planning, conscripting the BRAC states into his imaginary political Biafra Republic without their permission and consent."

"The Igbo groups know this to be true, but they have chosen to spread falsehood about Gen. Gowon’s peace mission to keep Nigeria united."

"We earnestly ask Gen. Gowon to ignore and forgive the false perspective and fabricated version of the Nigerian civil war presented by the groups."

"We assure him that the people of the BRAC states know the truth and appreciate the timely intervention of his leadership and his war generals and veteran federal troops to usher in peace."

I laugh when I hear people thanking Gowon for abolishing the 4 Region's Nigeria had and creating states. These people think it was for their benefit but they are yet to understand that it was for the benefit of Gowon and his fellow Northern cohorts

These people never bothered to read the Decrees Gowon used in creating states to realise that Gowon not only gave the North half of the states he created, but that Gowon also abolished resource control and placed all resources in the hands of the Federal government. Gowon gave you states but took control of your resources, what's the point?

As for the war, These people do not also realise that it was Gowon who broke the peace agreement him and Ojukwu signed in Aburi, Ghana, which led to war

Ignorance is a terrible disease

Gowon did didn't abolish resource control, it was Ironsi who abolished the powers of the regions(states).

And stop crying on behalf of those people. They don't want to be part of Igbo land.

So Edo isn't part of BRAC? Probably, they want to go join Yorubas as their Lagos founder....

And Biafra should stop dragging the BRAC states into their Biafra agenda.

Celebrating a man who reneged on the Aburi Accord he signed in the presence of another Head of State? The renegade man's action caused the untimely deaths of more than 3 million of his country people, mostly children.
Only empty heads would celebrate Gowon.

Said by Doris McDaniels.

Just see the name of a black african person. First name: foreign, second name: foreign.

It's not so hard to know when one is completely lost and mentally enslaved forever, let alone colonially.

Bearing a name Doris McDaniels means I can't even readily pinpoint where you come from in Nigeria or Africa at large, and must have to do further digging.

If you are ashamed of something as fundamental as your own indigenous names and instead represent with foreign names, it already summarises the level of your intelligence. And what is sure is that people of the original lands where these names are native to, would only shake their head in disdain and rate you low cos if monkey wear jacket, knot tie, wear shoes... monkey go remain monkey.

When black people bear names like Abdullahi, Phillips, George, Rita, Perpetual, Nasiru, Sharon, Rose, Ali, Gregory, Thomas, Cynthia, Celestina, Richard, Anabel, Isabella, Linda, Doris, Mary... you are just as good as an idiot.

But when you bear your proud indigenous names like Ifalewa, Effiong, Teremun, Terungwa, Iniekenimi, Okoro, Ivie, Korede, Itohan, Moremi, Franklin, Chinenye, Chinelo, Sangodele, Ifamuyiwa, Chibuzor, Ogunlana, Imaobong, Mosunmola, Simisola, Eseoghene, Osundara, THEN YOU ARE TALKING...

That same Gowon that was creating states, fighting war to keep Nigeria one, cannot sleep in his local government in Plateau State due to armed bandits

The so called Brac should also ask themselves why they had to form various armed militant groups and fight federal government for many years if the Nigeria Gowon gave them was the best

They are so foolish they didn't realise that the fulanis used gowon, his people and the Yorubas as a puppet to capture Nigeria.
