Joker.man:The stats doesn't indicate the parameters used by UNDP, NBS, etc, but it's near accurate. Indeed, indigenes of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Ekiti States who are all majorly from Yoruba states are known to be professionals and international business travelers or traders for centuries now. Lagos, Ibadan, PH, Kano, Kaduna, Niger, the West African countries of Ghana, Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire), Cotonou in Benin Republic, South Africa, the UK, U.S., Canada, Germany, etc, are some of the major cities and countries or locations you would find millions of folks of Yoruba descent. So, the percentage figures are almost in tandem with the reality. The Anambra percentage figure too is on tandem with the fact that that state has traders a lot of them have moved out to several states and countries in search of survival. Based on research articles I've read over the years, Anambra folks have a tendency to migrate out of state than those from other Ibo states. There is also a traditional distinction between Ibos who stay at home and those who travel out to look for survival (the Isuama term distinction). Edo State has a lot of folks living in Lagos, Germany, Italy, UK, USA, etc. Edos are known for traveling out as well. Kogi State though has Ebiras living in the major Northern states of Nigeria such as Kano, Kaduna, Abuja, etc. The Ebiras also constitute the largest non-indigenous ethnic group in Ondo and Ekiti States after the indigenous Yorubas of Ondo and Ekiti for decades now. Kogi State shares direct boundaries with Ekiti and Ondo with the Ebiras also sharing direct boundaries and intermarriages with Yoruba folks in the border areas. So, the stats give a rough guide of mobility and migration of folks from their states of origin in relation to those who choose to stay back. 1 Like 1 Share |

helinues: Hahaha!!! Helinues, i have always suspected thay your problem stems from thr fact that you are not good in mathematics and deductive reasoning If lagos has 20% as indigenous population, it doesn't mean that 80% of lagosians are living outside their state, it only means that the population of non indigenes is 4x the population of indigenes, thus 90% of lagosians could still be living in lagos, this can also be atributed to other southwest states too, thus southwest states host more non indigenes than northwest and southeast states excluding anambara. In conclusion, the states with higher % of non indigenes is more condusive foreigners |

BeninRefugees: Read your own submission 1) "I.e percentage of people in Oyo" 2) that Their state of origin is still Oyo" 1)Lets assume for mathematical simplicity that at first 100 indigenous people resides in oyo and 10 people left oyo to other ateas in nigeria 2) 80 people entered oyo from other areas in nigeria Using ,l, to represent ,indigenous, ,p, for people and ,f, to represent foreingners Mathematically this can be stated thus, from (1) 100 l - 10 l = 90 l Giving us that 90 l representing 90% of oyo indigenes resides in oyo In (2) no of foreigners that joined indigenes is equal to 80 f Total no of people in oyo now changes to 90 l + 80 f = 170 p % of indigenes in oyo to that of people living in oyo becomes (90 l/ 170 p) × 100 % = 52.94% of indigenes are among the people living in oyo Notice that % of indigenes living in oyo decreases as more foreigners troops in, which is the figure 52.94%, that statistic shows you, butressing the accomodating nature of oyo, but only 10 indigenes left oyo, so 90 indigenes, representing 90% of oyo indigenes are still in oyo |

jude79:you're making mountain out of molehill they have the amount of people in their states of Origin the fact that you see 10 Northerner in every street your area doesn't mean they're significant compared to those at home! they're just an insignificant percentage of the whole number of Northerners for every 5 Igbos you see In Lagos there's 10000 at Thier states of Origin that's how percentage works |
