Honestly putting sentiments aside as an Anambran I can not see any legacy project to justify Peter Obi's 8 years as governor. Even Obiano as useless and corrupt as he was left legacy projects such as the small Anambra Airport and Convention centre Slytiger: 2 Likes 1 Share |

worksmart:Exactly. I am from Enugu though and I have friends and family in Anambra during Peter Obi's reign. I could almost swear that Ngige's 8 month or so was better than Obi's 8 years. 2 Likes |

To me, there is nothing bad in borrowing provided there will be something tangible and visible to fund the loans with.. It shouldn't be a big deal if someone chose not to borrow or if he chooses to.. 1 Like |

Alex Otti is a big headache for corrupt and intending corrupt Nigerian leaders. He has dispelled the preposterous yet widely held belief that sterling leadership will always be beyond reach, and as such, it should be okay to settle with mediocre leaders. 2 Likes |

chopnaira: Oga abeg stop to dey fall our hand. Didn't you read "Both AfDB and IDB have approved, but the papers have not even been signed." in the article? @ the bolded, don't you know the federal govt shares money to the states every month? Alex Otti is being applauded because he is using the money he receives monthly to work for the people he is leading. But many other governors will squander the money, borrow more and steal almost all. He has calculated all the money the state will receive in 2024 and seen that it won't be enough to fund all the proposed projects, so he has prepared additional sources by securing approval for loans. The loan will not be taken if by any chance the state actually receives enough money to fund their projects. But in case of need, they can easily access the money, it is at that time that the word 'borrow' will be activated. Also, Alex Otti had said that any money they borrow will be used for developmental projects, and most likely the project will repay the loans. I think our common goal should be to see Nigeria work like civilized societies (because Nigeria has the resources), and not to play politics and tribalism all the time. If you see something good in someone, applaud, it will not delete the natural hatred you have for the person still, but it will make you turn to those who are not performing and hold them accountable. If there are 10 governors like Alex Otti, their influence in their respective states will start facing Nigeria towards the path of economic recovery. Now Otti is fixing roads, Abia will soon have a refinery, electricity will improve, they are planning a rail system, all these will improve peoples lives in Abia state. Your question (the bolded) should be directed to his fellow governors. 3 Likes |

chopnaira:Them say go school una talk say school na scam. Abeg make una try to dey read. Just for you to note, the deputy chief of staff to the governor said yes they had gotten approval to borrow, and that is because these organizations, (lenders), are willing to borrow the state money, but that the governor hadn't put pen to paper to collect these loans yet. Which means, most definitely, that the governor has so far been working with what he has in the state's account and/or coffers. 1 Like |
