Maryanne Moghalu, the wife of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) deputy governor and ex-presidential candidate Kingsley Moghalu, has sparked a social media storm with her recent social media post cautioning against investing in Lagos.

In the wake of the contentious dispute between Landmark, a prominent real estate developer, and the Federal Government, Maryanne Moghalu took to Social media to share her advice. Her post, which has since garnered over 200,000 views, serves as a warning to potential investors regarding the current climate in Lagos.

It's worth noting that Kingsley Moghalu was the presidential candidate for the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the country's general election in February 2019.

The controversy surrounding Landmark and the Federal Government has raised concerns about the stability of investment opportunities in Lagos. Maryanne Moghalu's post adds to the ongoing dialogue about the implications of such disputes on the business environment in Nigeria's commercial capital.

You have yourself to blame if you invest improperly.

By law, 250m away from the shoreline belongs to the FGN, and , can at any time make use of same. Landmark encroached on thesame land, investing 100s of million of dollars without due approval.

I don't know how more you want the FGN to be magnanimous.

My people too mumu

Always investing in the land that they hate you with passion.

Some will even have mansions in lagos while they're living in mud or old house in the village.

Instead of me to invest in yoruba land i will rather invest here in Abj.

Even as calm as this Abuja, am not buying any landed property. I will rather build 50 houses in Onitsha and still live as tenant here talk more of a region where am hated for being Igbo

In as much investing in the east is very important but I have to correct you here.

There are no Igbos with mansion in Lagos while having a mud house in the village, you all should stop all these nonsense talk.

So you think Igbo man will build mansion in Lagos and can't afford to build a nice duplex in his home town

Every investor must consider the long-term safety and sustenance of their investment before choosing a location and committing resources. Studies must cover local politics, culture, crime rate, competition, etc.

There is nothing wrong with investing in Lagos but there is always a risk. In Nigeria where ethnicity is exploited and politicians kill businesses of their opponents, it is advisable and safer to locate one's business in an area one has certain measures of control and influence. This, however, does not still guarantee that your own people cannot exploit politics to kill your business.

Two examples: What saved Innosson Motors from GTbank onslaught was the relocation from Oshodi expressway Lagos to Nnewi. But then again ex-Gov Wike demolished business of his opponents who are from Ikwerre as himself to punish them.

Bottomline is that there risk in every business move especially if it spins money enough to attract attention.

You're wrong, wike did not demolish his opponents business, please stop spreading misinformation.

Why not your SE?

Have you forgotten about abandoned property so soon?

And why is it hard for you guys to think home ?

Coming from people that only thinks locally...

You can't compare your locally made mindset to a national and internationally made mindset it will be too complex for you to comprehend, I can understand that.

The section demolished was illegally sited on federal land and the demolition excercise carried out by federal govt through the ministry of works headed by an Ibo man.

One of them on this thread is even asking that they de-invest from Lagos and invest in coastal towns which I infer is in the same SS that this road network project is meant to open up.

Now tell me how SS people will want to sell prime real estate to them after they opposed the project that will make the adjourning lands along the route spike in value?

This coastal highway project normally should attract commendation and support from their likes as it will surely see to other coastal towns in the SS opening up for business, investments and tourism.

But for their myopic hatred inspired by pure bigotry for anything good outside their region , they have now shot themselves on the foot and kneecaps.
You made no sense at all. How many goods are coming and going to calabar from Lagos? So according to naija statistics 70% of goods imported are heading to SE, why is the bridge not stopping at Imo, or Abia. So after clearing goods at Lagos I will take the bridge and pay 5k per toll for 4 tolls and still travel hours on a bad federal road just to getbto SE, that's increasing the cost thereby making things more difficult for nigerians. Also at the point in time is that road a necessity? Can't the billion dollars used to construct road be used to repair and maintain several FG roads esp in the SS & SE? East-west road that spand from PHC to Edo State is not yet completed. Ogoja road that connects calabar to rivers state via akwa-ibom is also terrible, the entire stretch of auchi road that goes to Abuja is also bad and has claimed many lives is also terrible. Our refineries not working could benefit hugely from the trillions being used on that road so what's the brain in construction that road? It's only nine Tinubus regime that the federal govt will construct a road from the taxes and resources of Nigeria and nigerians will still pay for the road. Listen politicians are friends to themselves don't foolishly buy into their crap
