Using blindness as an excuse for your incapability to grasp simple logic? Now that's pathetic.

love this

Ileke idi and cohorts you win. Igbos "roamed the forests unclad until yorubas came to their rescue". However, igbos are indisputably better looking.
One point for each ethnic group. Happy now?
Re: Yoruba, Igbo And Acculturation (or Multiculture) by oludashmi(f): 1:08pm On Nov 23, 2011
Anybody could have influenced anybody cos we all originated frm somewhere and have accommodated foreigners at one time or the other. What matters is that we all have our known ethnic cultures and traditions within the country called Nigeria and the poster is only talking about inter-tribal influence at the present not in the 18th century.
Re: Yoruba, Igbo And Acculturation (or Multiculture) by tpia5: 3:35pm On Nov 23, 2011
So, lets list some things in yoruba culture which were influenced by igbo or other tribes.

Cant really think of anything but maybe someone else can.

I heard masquerades were influenced by nupe but i seriously doubt that. I'd say they're more of ugbo, going by the moremi story.

I dont know if ogbono was adopted from igbo cuisine. Yorubas call it apon.

You damn right ogbono was and you know it. So was egusi! Seems like your speaking too soon my dear. And if you dont think nupe influenced yoruba go read a book on it. Although I am pretty sure you know they influenced you people. wink
Re: Yoruba, Igbo And Acculturation (or Multiculture) by tpia5: 4:02pm On Nov 23, 2011
^Islam in yorubaland was mainly introduced by nupe slaves, according to some sources.

Nupes were also found in yoruba armies and courts- they were part of the middlemen who supplied the oyo calvaries with horses from libya or hausaland.

So, nobody is saying they had no influence at all. Same way yoruba had influence on them and some northern yorubas were absorbed by them.
Re: Yoruba, Igbo And Acculturation (or Multiculture) by tpia5: 4:04pm On Nov 23, 2011
I dont think egusi is from igbo but garri could be from central or south america.

The original name of egusi is agushi

which the yorubas changed to egusi today and the igbos and even hausas adopted
