Decale:Was he not better than curry before his finals mvp win or ring? did he not need a better team to achieve this? is kawhi not carrying/leading the spurs now? LOL at kevin durant and leadership in the same sentence, do you even read what you type? Kobe is a 5 time NBA champion with 2 finals MVP, multiple first team NBA, most all star appearances, 30k points, 35.4ppg in a season, led Kwame Brown and Smush Parker to playoffs.DPOY twice Established all star All NBA first team twice. NBA Finald MVP. Steals leader NBA Champion! What has he achieved? Give him draymond and klay. I brought them into the discussion cause you were using mvp wins as your criteria. Choose a player, put him in the Brooklyn nets, try and get them back to the playoffs. You're going to pick Kawhi over Durant and Curry?Put curry in the nets or put kawhi in the nets, you actually think curry will make them better than kawhi will make them? are you this deluded? It seems brain dey pain you. Steph Curry was the best player in the league two years straight! Kawhi has never been the best player in the league at any point in time so FOH with that noise. Leading a team with 3 all-stars? Didn't Lebron your god also need a bunch of all stars to win a ring? SIRcumalot:What is easy excuse? Which player in that Kyrie roster has gone on to be anything? When you have a Forward that insists on playing a Point Guard's role then what you see should be what you get. I strongly suspect this was another reason Kyrie wanted out. If Kyrie is a ball hog then wait till you see Derrick Rose hit the floor. Go and look at their catch and shoot numbers. Wo o ti mo meme. If you feel Rose is a better playmaker we go see. Shey season starts in less than 40 days ... |
Re: The NBA Begins by SIRcumalot: 1:40am On Sep 09, 2017 |
A40:Dion got paid this year. Tristan sef get him value. Na two players be that without even checking roster When I already called Rose at this point in his career, similar to Kyrie but poorer shooting numbers!? Na you Wan tell us say Kyrie no be ball hogger. bron is very good at passing the ball;kyrie na great one on one scorer, not leveraging both this talent to win games no make sense. the Celts run ISO plays for IT too, I expect Kyrie to feast on those plays, |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 1:57am On Sep 09, 2017 |
SIRcumalot:Everybody with two legs is getting paid! Zach Randolph is almost 38 and is on a $12m per year deal. What you should be asking yourself is why no one picked up Rose. How many all-star games between Dion and Tristan? Playing with Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng in your early years is different from playing with Dion Waiters and Tristan Thompson |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 2:03am On Sep 09, 2017 |
A40:I AM a troglodyte, well sort of... Doesn't mean what I'm saying is wrong. There is a difference between opinion and what actually goes on on the court. The same Sir Charles who said a jump shooting team would never win a Chip? It seems brain dey pain you. It's far too common of an opinion of better learned experts to not be a fact. Isn't it convenient how you left out all other witnesses and singled one out? Steph Curry was the best player in the league two years straight! Kawhi has never been the best player in the league at any point in time so FOH with that noise.LOL You lot confuse winning MVP with being the best player in the NBA. That's a very fundamental flaw in your reasoning. Leading a team with 3 all-stars? Didn't Lebron your god also need a bunch of all stars to win a ring? Why are you deflecting the argument to LeBron now? Lmao! That doesn't void my argument though, like I said, give kawhi 2 all-stars and if he fails to better those team achievements you can use it against him. Last season was Kawhi's first time of getting the Spurs to a Conference Finals and he definitely had plenty help. Hell they beat the Rockets twice without him! So you are the one who needs to get of Kawhi's preeqBut he did did he not? Something curry can't boast of. And BTW curry led the warriors twice before calling on big brother KD for help after getting bullied and blowing a 3-1 lead. Warriors are just as capable of beating the rockets without Curry. And you really believe the warriors would have humiliated the Spurs like they did with kawhi on the floor? Here's the summary for me take it or leave it. Is curry better offensively? Sure, okay. But defensively and when it comes to making a team better, basketball IQ kawhi by a mile. Ergo why he's generally better, the developers Of that game know this much (at least in this case) most NBA fans know this much. You can keep dwelling in your pit of fantasies for all I care but the reality remains that kawhi>curry is a fact. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 2:11am On Sep 09, 2017 |
A40: Injuries and uncertainties, simple as that. Not a matter of performance. People who put up much much much worse numbers than him are getting paid. And let's not forget the Lakers wanted him as well, and regardless of his reputation he would have been paid much more than the minimum there. I think he wanted a shot at a ring, that's a very powerful motive for taking a cut and of course he wanted to play with the GOAT. 1 Like |

A40:Everyone isn't getting paid. If that money is not enough evidence his last season with Miami nko? I thought it was on this same thread somebody was educating me on why the cavs should sweep the league because our players were drafted high. Is this talk about who is better between Rose and kyrie at the moment? I confuse because you already have my answer. 1 Like |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 2:55am On Sep 09, 2017 |
SIRcumalot:That was not an all-star caliber season. Neither Dion Waiters nor Tristan Thompson have contended for any sort of award in the league. Not even player of the week so don't use getting paid as a point when there is a clear glut of money in the league at the moment Don't confuse yourself. You have openly tagged Kyrie a ball hog and inferior playmaker and this is what I objected to showing you that Kyrie's early years and playing with a Forward hell-bent on doing point guard work will not let you see the best of Kyrie |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 3:05am On Sep 09, 2017 |
Ersan:It goes beyond that mate. He had ok numbers but no team trying to win anything is building their team around Derrick Rose. FACT! His best shot was always going to be at a contender who needed veteran contribution. It would be daft for a young and upcoming team to pay Rose. The Knicks and Bulls two of the worst run franchises balked at doing that. So no gainsaying |

Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 3:43am On Sep 09, 2017 |
Ersan:Opinions don't suddenly metamorphose to fact without proof. Kawhi has never in his career been adjudged as the best player in the league either based on stats or even awards Ersan: I know the difference so no need for you to play Monday Morning Quarterback. Steph didn't just win the MVP he had the numbers and performances that stood him out as the best player in the game. And he did it back to back. You have to earn the best player in the league title every season not just via clichés and urban legend Ersan:. He has an all-star in Lamarcus Aldridge let him make conference finals with that. You people talk like guys like Draymond did not have to raise his game and Golden State started as an assembly of all-stars like the Heatles. They were built! Ersan: What can Curry not boast of? Is it beans to lead a bunch of upstarts to 2 NBA Finals? How is KD the big brother? last I checked it was Golden State who beat OKC. And it's Golden State who had a ring prior to their union. What the Warriors can or cannot do with Kawhi healthy is moot but what is abundantly clear is that Kawhi has sufficient help to consistently get to Conference Finals multiple times at the very least Ersan:I no get time for your wack a$$ summary. It's not a coincidence that at the heart of one of the best offenses the league has ever seen lies Steph Curry. You cannot run such an elite offense without a basketball IQ over the roof. Kawhi's only real edge is on defense. However as a facilitator or scorer Steph holds the edge and can twist defences at will. Unanimous MVP is not beans oo 3 Likes |

A40:If na so the money plenty why nobody don pay Noel ? Both of them aren't scrubs they don prove their worth for this league. Dion in particular,is on the rise. give kyrie the ball and stick bron on the wing. na great coaching be that. When kyrie shows his a great playmaker and a willing passer,we'll call him that. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 1:13pm On Sep 09, 2017 |
This is a very difficult argument for me especially since I love both players. Kawahi is easily a top 7 offensive player in the league and top 3 defensive player, while Curry is a top 3 offensive player, however, I would not rank him top 15 on defense. So where is the balance. The balance is in creating offense for teammates. If both players are doubled, which player has the ability to involve teammates better? Kawahi is what I call an efficient offensive player and in today's NBA, efficiency in offense would only take you to the post season if you are a superstar and that's it. Curry revolutionized perimeter shooting in today's NBA. 2 MVP (1 unanimous) and 2 rings have to count for something for a player who become more vocal. Kawahi needs to expand his offense and that includes creating more scoring for his teammates. I look at this way, if both players switched teams, which player has the probability of doing better? Would Kawahi's offense trump Curry's if he played for played for the current Warriors? Would Curry's scoring help push the Spurs farther than they have done in the post season? Can Cury win an MVP playing for Spurs? Absolutely!!! Can Kawahi win an MVP playing for the current Warriors? I honestly doubt. Take nothing away from both players, they are great. 1 Like |

Roland17:the word "great" can ONLY be used for CURRy for now.although he had a slow start to his career,he is an established hall of famer,a top 10 ever point guard, a Top 25 ever player,a two time MVP(back to back),the only unanimous mvp ever,a one time scoring champion, a 50-40-90 club member,2 time NBA champion, arguably the BEST SHOOTEr of all time.if he retired today hez jersey will surely be retired. KAWHI on d other hand is "Good" but not yet "GREAT" |

rotimi9: I beg to disagree with you. Objectivity is an imperative requirement when critiquing a player outside your comfort zone. I have not failed to highlight Curry's greatness owing to his exceptional offense, however, I think it is disrespectful not to accord Kawahi greatness. Kawahi is an NBA champion, FMVP, 2 time defensive player of the year, 2 time all star, 2 time NBA first team, 3 time NBA defensive first team and the best 2 way player in the league. A player who averaged 25.5ppg in the regular season (progressive from 16ppg in 2014) and 27.7ppg in the post season. Some hall of famers did not achieve half of what Kawahi has done thus far (26) to get inducted or have their jerseys retired. Don't get it twisted, if he decides to stop playing today, his jersey would hang on the rafters at the AT&T center, worth more if he finishes his career with the Spurs. We are speaking of a kid who has already broken into the top 10 Spur of all time in such a short spell. Let me ask you, is D. Green a great player in the current NBA? Where would Westbrook, Harden, A. Davies, Thompson, CP3, J. Wall rank? Good? Or Great? The same way Curry has his stats and numbers to defend his superstar status, so does Kawahi, even though prior edges the latter in comparison. |

Re: The NBA Begins by birdman(m): 5:54pm On Sep 09, 2017 |
Look at it another way - if the warriors could get Curry for Kawhi, would they do it? It spurs could swap Curry for Kawhi, would they bite. I say yes, warriors would do it. Spurs would not. Comparing kawhi and curry is hard to do. kinda like comparing lebron and kobe. One is a special offensive weapon. The other is a special system player. Offense is flashy, and easily distracts you from true value. But the league has had lots of special offensive weapons, but the system players are much more dominant over time. If Curry is looking really good right now, its not just his sharpshooting skills - its the fact that the warriors have loaded up. Kawhi with warriors personnel would win rings to, as would CP3, Kyrie, IT, etc Bottom line, if you are a GM, and you have a solid roster ready to win a 'ship, you pick the system superstar, Kawhi, over the offensive weapon Curry every time. 1 Like |

Roland17:. YOUNG BLOOD i got two words "DERRICK ROSE" This guy iz a: 3 time all star NBA youngest MVP ever at just the age of 22 One time NBA first team Rookie of the year Olympic gold medalist FIBA world cup winner He led the chicago bulls to the BEST Record in the nba that year and led them to the EASTERN CONFRENCE FINALS.Surely anyone who saw him play in 2011 would havre said that he was on a "path to greatnes".that was until injuries caught up with him.he then slowly declined not able to play as he used to,reducing him to an average player.thus the " windy city assassin" fell. If he retired today do u think he would be considered a great player.no we will have many players ranked ahead of him like wade,bosh,Peirce,allen,t-mac and so on all of whom never won mvps. Same for kawhi ,KAWHI is a promising player with a bright future,a legitimate top 6 player in d league right now.if he is consistent he will definitely become a great player.but if he were to retire now or anything like injury happens, his achievements RIGHT NOW are not enough to classify him as a great player. FOR NOW he is only a good player. But curry on the other hand has done ENOUGH to classify him as a great player as at NOW.i dont need to list out his acheivments im sure u know. |

rotimi9: Now you are arguing out of context and away from the topic you created. In which world would glass footed Derrick Rose be considered great? This is not an argument about Curry, rather, this is an argument about Kawahi's greatness and superstar level in the NBA. Stop construing both. Calling Kawahi promising obviously tells me how much basketball you have watched, however, I will continue to give you a benefit of a doubt. A player with all the records I posted in the league, is a promising player? Kawahi gets the rafters if his career ends today, it's not even up for a debate in San Antonio. A franchise player with whom many team executives would build a franchise around is a pro'isimg player. My guy argue well o. Do you even understand the meaning of promising? Promising players are KAT(Timberwoves), C.J McCollum(Trailblazers), J. Embiid( Sixers). |

Roland17:. Smh KAWHI Leonard ,a 2 time defensive player ,2 time first team, 2 time all star ,finals mvp. He has a finals mvp, so does iguodala who also was an all star and a member of NBA all defense team He has 2 DPOY, so does SIDNEY MONCRIEF SIDNEY moncreif was a 5 time all star, all NBA first team, four time second team, 2 time DPOY But can iguodala or moncrief be termed as "greats" No bro. Kawhi is only a superstar,he isn't a "great"player yet. He won his championship under d shadow of d spurs big 3 back in 2014 just like iguodala got his under d warrior's . I am not in any way arguing out of context as u claim,my argument is based on the term " great' which u ascribed to kawhi which he is not yet. The only PLAYERs PLAYING NOW who would be termed as GREATS and sure HOFs if they were to RETIRE NOW are lEBRON NOWITZKI Dwayne WAde Cp3 Kevin Durant Stephen curry Vince carter Pau gasol Dwight Howard Vince carter Russell Westbrook ( bcus of his unbelievable feat last season smashing a 50 year old record) And PROBABLY manu ginobli and tony parker For now KAWHI is only a superstar not yet a "great' |
Re: The NBA Begins by Roland17(m): 9:38pm On Sep 09, 2017 |
Let me help you here because you are basically running everywhere..From D.Rose, to Iggy and now using PROBABLY to describe Ginobli and Parkers greatness..I was really cracking up, after all, opinions are subjective. At 26 and in only his 6th season, Kawahi is ranked 9th ALL TIME in scoring, 8th ALL TIME in steals, 7th ALL TIME in 3 points made, 10th ALL TIME in points made from the freethrow.. Kid is already ranked in the top 10 ALL TIME Spur on every list, ahead of the likes of Gilmore, Avery Johnson, Bruce Bowen, Robert Horry, Dennis Rodman, many of whom have their jerseys hanging on the rafters. It is funny how you want to regard the stats of other players, however, disregard the achievement of Kawahi. It questions your ability to be objective in argument. If Kawahi retires today, his Jersey is hitting the rafters at the AT&T center, no questions asked. |

Roland17:Y are u limiting ur list to only the SPURS ,the NBA comprises of 30 teams bro.we are talking about the whole league here bro, mark my words bro,the Top 10 NBA players right now are top 10 in steals, points, amount of free throws made and steals for their respective teams and if they were to retire now, they will also have their jerseys hanging at their respective courts. But are the top ten players right now established hall of famers. if they were to retire now are all of em sure hall of famers Get my point dude.kawhi is good,an established superstar on the path to "greatness" if hez consistent, but hez not there yet. JOEL EMBId at mid season was everyone's favorite to take home rookie of the year, all votes went to him.but along the line he suffered from injuries playing only 30 games thereby reducing his chances and finally loosing the trophy. Same analogy goes for kawhi When I use the word "PROBABLY" for ginobli or parker its not to doubt their prowess but to tell u that there are some good and notable NBA stars who Neva made the HALL Fame list.not all good players make hall of fame. Take a look at: Tim Hardaway – The man who popularized the “Killer Crossover” has been on the brink of Hall of Fame enshrinement for a few years now but has continually come up just a bit short as voters can’t quite seem to agree on whether or not he belongs. Over the course of his career he was named to five All-Star teams, one All-NBA First Team, three All-NBA Second Teams and one All-NBA Third Team. He was the one that helped turn the Miami HEAT into a contender, and while he didn’t win a ring there, he did set the table for the group that did a couple years after he left Chris Webber_ this guy ran the break like a point guard, passed as well as any big man the game has ever seen, and played some of the most efficient and exciting basketball of his era. Nobody could stop Webber in his prime, which is a big reason why he made five All-Star Teams and five All-NBA Teams, including an All-NBA First Team selection. He was an elite player in his era but yet no hall of fame selection. These two players were unstoppable in their prime but yet got snubbed in HOF. |
