The warning was for southerners to leave the north though.

Not just igbo people, though for some reason they seem to be more prominent there.

Anyway, the southerners who remain had better leave or else arm themselves.

Southerners, there is no shame in leaving the North. The Nigerian project cannot protect you, ignore the rantings of people in safe homes, secure locations and full stomach. Come back to wherever you call home.

Do not be the corpse that any wretched politician uses to campaign.

You southerners are probably more of our problem than even aboki. That is why we must watch our backs more in the face of all these provocations. We don't know who is really behind it.

In my heart of hearts, I know (as any knowledgeable Igbo would know) that in a hypothetical war between ONLY Igbo and Hausa/Fulani, there is no way they can win. Our loss in Biafra was more as a result of southern gang up and foreign support to Hausa/Fulani led aggression against us.

We must not allow ourselves to be provoked into another war until we are ready.
Methinks that when we are ready, even aboki will not want war.

If i remember correctly, the massob guy told them to stay there and fight to defend themselves while that is not easy with out having weapons(legally) with which to achive that ,i think the logic of that statement is correct in as much as they are still nigerians.
On the flip side if you do not have the capability or skill to defend your self, no shame come home.

The previous incident was a Catholic church, and most of the names there were Igbo.

It looks like there is a pattern to Boko Haram's targets.

Anyway, very very unfortunate. May the dead RIP.

Good one OnlyTruth. These people need to know history. Ndigbo are warriors. It took the British a very long time to colonize the east. Hausa/Fulani will not be able to cry to UK and the Soviet Union for help this time. The southern gang up will not work either. It says something when you need that much help to fight a war against a people that make less than a quarter of Nigeria's population. We will see if others want to join them in their mayhem. Even Mike Tyson can lose a fight if he is fighting against 12 teenagers at the same time, but they cannot win against Tyson one on one.

Boko Haram Kills 26 In Adamawa, Gombe •Northerners Attacked In Delta, Many Injured •As 30 Die In Kogi Auto Crash

ABOUT 20 people were killed, on Friday, by masked gunmen, believed to be members of the Boko Haram sect, who targeted a town hall in Mubi, Adamawa State.

Residents in the town said those killed were Igbo.

They had been meeting to organise how to transport the body of a kinsman shot dead by gunmen on motorbikes on Thursday evening to their hometown.

Image maker of the state police command, ASP Altine Daniel, confirmed the Friday incident to Saturday Tribune, but said she was on her way to Mubi with the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adenrele Shinaba, as of the time she was contacted on the telephone.

The sect members also reportedly attacked a church in Gombe, Gombe State, on Thursday, killing at least six people, said the church’s pastor, Johnson Jauro.

Jauro said the killings took place when gunmen burst into his Deeper Life Church in the city.

He said his wife was among those killed. Ten other people were injured.

“The attackers started shooting sporadically. They shot through the window of the church, and many people were killed, including my wife,” Mr. Jauro said.

According to him, “many members who attended the church service were also injured.”

In another development, irate youths, in Sapele, Delta State, on Friday, attacked an Hausa community, injuring about 50 people.

It was alleged that the action was in retaliation of the attacks on Southerners living in the North by the Boko Haram.

The youths, numbering about 2,000, reportedly stormed the community where bomb explosions were recorded in December 2011, as early as 7.00 a.m. with weapons and chased the dwellers who ran in different directions.

Those who were injured in the attack are said to be receiving treatment in different hospitals after they were rescued by security agents who arrived at the scene after a distress call by the leaders of the community.

Saturday Tribune learnt that a timely deployment of soldiers and policemen in the area prevented the youths from burning the two mosques in the area, as they were said to be carrying substances suspected to be gasoline and matches.

The development was said to have caused traffic jam in the area, even as shops and commercial banks located along Hausa Road, Urhobo Road, Market Road, Cemetry Road, Palm Avenue and Yoruba Road hurriedly closed for fear of vandalisation.

The youths marched with weapons like cutlasses, axes and knives, causing panic among the people.

Head teacher of the Children Muslim school in the area, Mallam Abdul Rasaq, confirmed that over 50 men and women sustained injuries and have been admitted to various hospitals within and outside Sapele. He said some people have relocated to a safe place in the meantime.

Secretary of a Muslim media group in Sapele, Sadiq Oniyesaneyene Musa, told journalists that: “We are disturbed by this attack and the threat that Muslims in Sapele should return to the North. I am a Muslim and an Itsekiri from Delta State, where do they want me to go. This is my home.”

Musa said the youths injured a lot of faithful.

“We called the director of the State Security Service (SSS), Asaba and the Area Commander and they responded. The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger-Delta also deployed soldiers to take care of the situation,” he said.

The Chief Imam of Sapele Central Mosque, Alhaji Mohammed Usman, condemned the attack.

As of 10.00 a.m. when Saturday Tribune visited the scene, the two mosques, which were locked up were being guarded by security men.

A victim, Mallam Isa Yakubu, said cash and other items were stolen during the attack.

Two people suspected to have participated in the onslaught were, however, arrested by the police.

Delta State police spokesman, Charles Muka, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), confirmed the incident, but said it was the handiwork of hoodlums who wanted to cause confusion in order to loot.

“As I speak to you, normalcy has been restored in Sapele. Policemen are patrolling the affected area to ensure that there is peace and security.”

In a related development, no fewer than 30 people, mainly Northerners, were killed, on Friday, in Okene, Kogi State, after the articulated vehicle carrying them ran into a gully.

It was gathered that many others sustained injuries in the accident.

Saturday Tribune gathered that the people were travelling from Onitsha, Anambra State and were heading for the North when the trailer conveying them lost control as a result of a brake failure.

A witness said the accident occurred at about 9.00 a.m. at a curve at Obangede Junction, near a police station at Ogaminana, in Adavi Local Government Area.

The policemen on duty and men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) helped the injured to the hospital in Okene, while the dead were evacuated to Obangede Specialist Hospital mortuary.

It was gathered that the passengers were heading back home as a result of the security problem in the country.

It's sad that alot of us simply play to the gallery,While things fall apart in Nigeria. My take on this is regrettable and sad.We as a people let ourselves be sucked in to this cycle of violence by justifying why we should take our neighbor an enemy and cause him harm.I am not a party to this madness. We can choose to fight this together or do it separately there by suggesting reprisals and bring in more people hoping for a taste of blood. The orgy of violence and blood letting may flourish. If we keep thinking like animals. What are the problems and how can we draw an acceptable strategy or harmonize our goals to tackle this people, party, group, politicians or tribal/religious interest.
We all have an alternative to this, identify our enemies, resist it together and be able to define our future. We can do it together than separately. If the goals of boko haram is to split the nation, lets show them greater harmony. If the goal of boko haram is to bring the voted government down, then it is only right we support the government now that ever.If boko haram wants to ruin the nation lets do the opposite and build her from all facets. If they want to make it un-governable then we mustn't fall for it by acting as they want causing more problems and escalating the situation but motivate the government and work with her as a people to make It governable. If boko haram choose to cause harm then lets make sure justice is done and they are brought to book.Insisting that FGN publish the sponsors and we insist that such communities join the nation in isolating them for Justice to take place under the watchful eyes of the people.

13 Killed In Attacks In Northeast Nigeria
by THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — Members of a radical Muslim sect attacked a church in northeast Nigeria during a worship service, part of a series of assaults that killed at least 13 people, authorities said Saturday.

The church shooting came as Boko Haram members attacked a beauty salon and fought government forces Friday night as part of its continuing sectarian battle against Nigeria's weak central government. In the last few days alone, the group has killed at least 44 people, despite the oil-rich nation's president declaring a state of emergency in regions hit by the sect.

In Yola, the capital of Adamawa state, gunmen covered their faces with black cloth when they attacked Apostolic Church, local police commissioner Ade Shinaba said. Shinaba said at least eight worshippers died in that attack.

At a nearby beauty salon, at least three others were killed in a similar attack.

"Three gunmen with their faces covered with black cloth burst into my salon and started shooting at customers, chanting, 'God is great, God is great,'" said Stephen Tizhe, 35.

In the town of Potiskum in Yobe state, gunmen set two banks ablaze with gasoline bombs, starting a gunfight with police that lasted three hours, local police commissioner Tanko Lawan said. At least two people were killed in the fight, he said.

No arrests have been made in either attack, authorities said.

The Northern Elite would rather Nigeria boils and explodes than have GEJ rule the country.

This is a calculated attempt by these set of fanatics to destroy Nigeria and they are hell bent on it.

They have their supporters in the army and police.

Appears GEJ is running scared.

I agree with a lot of comments here, IGBOS and Christians should resist the temptation to be used as scape goats and drawn into a war. Just LEAVE , LEAVE, Money is not the ultimate in LIFE.

The enemy is indeed Boko Haram. But how do we fight the war declared by Boko Haram when we have an incompetent and clueless commander-in-chief - A commander-in-chief who declared a war on Nigerian citizens by the ill-timed subsidy removal? A commander-in-chief who supplies the enemy (Boko Haram) with armunition and other tools of war including the said ill-timed subsidy removal, does not deserve to lead us in this war.

If this commander-in-chief is incapable of defending Nigerians and stopping the killings, I'm afraid we are fast approaching the time to replace him.  I am so sad by the recent developments. Haba GEJ!!!! Do something for goodness sake!!!!

I am sure that the leaders of our armed forces have mapped out various scenarios of dealing with this war where all options, including a takeover, are being weighed. GEJ may very well succeed in providing the right environment for the military to return and set us back another 50years. olodo

Jonathan gave birth to bunch of worthless illiterate children and made them almajiris?

Who is responsible for decades of mismanagement and corruption that gas left that region with one of the lowest literacy levels and highest poverty rates on earth ?

Is there any year in the last two decades that atleast one International body hasn't come out to sound the alarm about the conditions in the area producing these people ? But ofcourse, the usual "Allah knows best was your chorus"; because aboki know Allah pass every body on earth.

Its time to remove the governors of these North Eastern states, suspend their houses of assembly, appoint military administrators and declare martial law/shoot-at-sight.

When is our National Assembly going to wake up?

It might sound harsh, but worthy of consideration.

I have no clue how a government cannot protect it's citizens.

Some one high up there needs to be caught and made a good example of so that others will fear.
