why now? if he had done this before now, some of us might trust them a bit but now, no. if he slash the salaries by 25%, let him increase the pump price also by 25%.

I think u are missing the point completely.

If u work in any organisation, when u are given ur appointment letter, u'll see basic salary(BS) separate and other allowances separate as well. all will be added and forms ur take home pay but BS is completely diff from allowances.

Gej has chosen to cut Basic Salary by 25% and not allowances.

NB Allowances are always more than or equal to time(X) 2 of BS.

Therefore GEJ has done nothing in terms of sacrifice

The SALARY CUT is only basic salary and not linked to any other allowances. This cut is also meant to be for one year, it is more like a charitable gesture, the statement in itself is a very ambiguous statement. But I doubt the landlord's in Abuja, the newspaper vendor's and the other allowance providers in Abuja would be slashing there asking fee by 25%, so linking the basic salary to these allowances is a non-starter and a fallacy.
