Lets face it.

We all know there is a subsidy been paid by Feceral government which is as a result of gross incompetence and corruption over the years.

We also know that the subsidy been paid can not be over 500billion naira even with increase in demand and never 1.3trillion plus as claimed by the federal government.

We also know that what we have in nigeria government system is carbalocrazy and not democracy.

In view of all these and to foster a way forward, N90 or N100 will be too much but we can manage.

With N90 or 10n per litre, we will now understand that no subsidy is paid any longer and we now have added tax infused in the pricing to ensure we get infrastructures that ought to be a normal duty of a responsible government.

We can't continue the protest by holding on to 65N even when we know that is the ideal stand, it is now our duty to ensure that the proceeds made from subsidy removal is judiciously spent,

Notice how he never said anything about immediate reduction of cost of governance. Instead he thinks he is doing the masses a favor by making us pay 97 naira. Woe betide this man!

Well, from that speech it is sure that NLC did not agree with the President. The Naira 97 price was set without NLC's involvement and without any agreement with any of the protesting groups.

NLC on the other hand made the decision, it seems to stop all protests for SECURITY REASONS, and not in links with the Naira 97 decision made.

That the decision was made without the go ahead from any of the groups protesting or representing the Nigerians people (well except for the govenrors) I think this is more a SLAP ON THE FACE OF NIGERIANS.

Wrong. There is no subsidy. For there to be a subsidy, we must be paying below cost of production. Its already been established that even at N65, there is N500B of of excess profit missing. "we can manage" mentality will be our end

97 is ok. It means 50% hike. I think Nigerians should accept it and support the FG on condition of prosecuting the NNPC, Customs and marketers involved in the subsidy fraud.

[size=16pt]★IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

1. Nigerians have never been UNITED. Independence came amidst a clearly marked divide that culminated in decades of military coups and a devastating Civil War.

2. Religion, the National OPIUM, has failed to UNITE Nigerians. In fact, it has become our BANE and the TOOL of PROPAGANDA, INDOCTRINATION & EXPLOITATION.

3. Nigerians ONLY found UNITY in a 'COMMON INTEREST' ---football, now dead! To be sure, just as hypnotic as religion, save it COSTS LESS than being a Christian for example.

4. For the first time in our history, we are UNITED AGAINST a COMMON ENEMY, our greatest enemy ---the Nigerian Establishment!

WE MUST TAKE THIS CHANCE TODAY, and SAVE tomorrow!
If we don't, we WILL still not be UNITED, bombs will still kill us, GEJ and the Politicians will STILL embezzle/allot Billions for themselves, EFCC will still be toothless, and any PROGRESS will be SLOW

CHANGE is NOW or NEVER!

EMPEROR GEJ has disrepected and insulted our sanity and trampled on our humanity and dignity.

Resist TYRANNY!

NOOOOO! Nigerians should not accept it! Why must the masses always suffer for the consequences of gross corruption in governance? WHY? F that! This has been going on for toooo LOng. Nigerians must rise, what? in the year 2012, we still don't have constant or even 70% electricity supply, no good roads, nothing!

So what did d one week protests achieve if fuel will now sell for N97& labor decides to call off d protests,a prelude to calling off d strike?Prices of items that have gone up are unlikely to come down& we now still av to contend wt an assumed albatross of a persisting fuel subsidy.Tomorrow d same arguments will crop up& d same rehearsed scenario will play itself out.It just goes to show that any real change must b masses driven, labor in nigeria can neva drive d change. This is d same labor that played out this same script under Obasanjo, citing similar reasons of not wanting to destabilise d then govt;this is d same leadership that has utterly failed to get d govt to pay d N18k minimum wage.
We are dealing wt a set of people wt a mindset not different frm govt's:impose ur will on d people& bliv it will b biz as usual. If labor finally accepts this N97 offer,it just shows its shortsightedness bc it wud even av bn better to leave it @N141 & we all see if we will reap d so called benefits& hold d govt responsible if we don't.But wt dis price offer,if we don't see d benefits, govt can easily site d shortfall in expected subsidy removal revenue as excuse.Won't b surprised if something has changed hands

Don't be funny. Everywhere in the world, govt releases a advance copy of important speeches to the press with an embargo placed on it to ensure that the press do not publish the speech until the president speaks. What saharareporters did was to ignore journalistic priinciples and publish the advance copy. If you look at the published speech on sr, you would also see the words 'embargoed'
