Abia State Governor Chief T.A. Orji has described the death of Mr. Eneche Akogwu of Channels Television Camera who was killed in Kano yesterday as series of explosions rocked the ancient city, as very disheartening and unfortunate. In a statement by his
Chief Press Secretary Ugochukwu Emezue, Chief Orji lamented the exit of this young journalist who died in the course of duty. According to
the Governor, the death of Channels TV camera man has again brought to the fore the issue of insecurity in the northern region of the country occasioned by the activities of the Boko Haram sect, and urged the Police and the Military High Command to do everything possible to stem
this ugly trend.
The Governor used the opportunity to condenm friday’s killings in Kano that claimed lives and property. Chief Orji particularly commiserated with the management and staff of Channels Television, especially the CEO of the Television Station John Momoh over the death of their staff.
The Abia State helmsman who commended the media for the good work done in ensuring that information gets to the people, urged practitioners not to be discouraged by this death.
For the Governor”Journalists should not be deterred in any way, as Nigerians are praying for them daily for God’s protection as they do their job”.
