Some players lose their form just because they lost the status of being the major or most important player in a club, some when they feel threatened. This happens to every professional player. And when I say they signed mediocre players, schneiderlin is not a player of man u status, same goes to darmian, scweini is old, depay is still UNPROVEN, romero is not an upgrade to de gea if he leaves.
