pls, how can kgif pay better if it offers 12% in 6months and MM funds offers average of 10% in 3 months

or am i mistaking somthing?

OK let me clarify this again( because some guys are still not getting it).

Nobody will pay you 10% interest over 3months or 6months.

Meaning you put 100k , then 6 months later you collect 110k.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Any interest rate given to you by a bank or financial institution is quoted as an ANNUAL PERCENT.
(Unless CLEARLY stated otherwise)

If they say they will give you 10%, that is if you leave your money there for a whole year it will increase by 10%.

If you leave your money there 6 months at 10% APY (ANNUAL PERCENT YIELD/RATE), what you will get is approximately a 5%+ increase.

If you leave your money there 3 months at 10% APY (ANNUAL PERCENT YIELD/RATE), what you will get is approximately a 2.5%+ increase.

I hope you understand.

a thousand likes for this, to add to what he said all interest rates are expressed in annual rate, that means if you fix 100k at the rate of 12% for 3 months, what you will get is 3% increase of your 100k and not 12% increase but if you leave the cash for 12months only then will you get a 12% increase of your money

Savanah bank was not liquidated per se. It was closed by CBN based money laundering. However, the promoters took the bank and got victory. Besides all deposits are insured.

Yeah! I still prefer getting the 2.5%+ quarterly to be added to my principal quick than the 6%+ after a long 6 months. To me the time also matters. That's y I prefer 91days Tbills.

That's me.

Principal always guaranteed regardless of whether you hold on to maturity or not. 10% penalty on interest accrued for units redeemed before the maturit period.

How come its only the APY that's categorically stated as guaranteed on your website. Again when am redeeming, will I be selling at a unit price that could fluctuate?

Like IBTC guaranteed fund, its your capital that is guaranteed and rate is never. And then u will be redeeming at a unit price that could fluctutate...

we have a KGIF FAQ that will address all your questions, it's in pdf format so I can't post it here give me your mail so I can send it to you to read through. both your principal and APY is guaranteed if you redeem your investment at maturity but if you redeem it before maturity your principal is still guaranteed but we charge 10% on the income of the investment. buying and selling Ok KGIF is at one(1) naira per unit. you can redeem part of your investment so long as you still have 50k+ left in the investment.

@Seun, thanks for interfering. Too many distractions and it has prevented some of us from enjoying and contributing to the actual topic of this thread. I don't understand why we should derail the thread with matters relating to other money market securities when we can easily create another thread and drop the link here for those who are interested.

Yes I think so, but you'll need to do it right now hoping the deadline has not passed.

Question for the financial analyst in the house

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by nitrogen(m): 8:15pm On Sep 02, 2014
Hi, considering the fact that liquidity is a bit high in the system, and also, the fact that CRR is coming in tomorrow, rates will be a bit lower or at best close at the last auction's level(s), the CBN will issue 182b across all the maturities (91, 182 and 364 day bills), which is not much, so it won't make rates go higher. Most times, when liquidity is low and the bills on issue are much, then they must raise the rates in other to accomodate/or meet their target.

Expect maybe 9.50-9.80, 10.00-10.18 and 10.05-10.25 for 91, 182 and 364 day bills respectively. I won't be specific about the stop rates, but those are the ranges expected.

Happy bidding!

Meanwhile, don't quote me!

Catfish rearing requires your attention and presence....except one has someone who could be trusted to do that for you.

But who doesnt want to make money for himself and would want to give his all to helping you build a fortune ?

Tbills has got it in terms of lowest possible risk n you have the time to do other things...
