Today I witnessed hw preeclampsia functions. There's dis midwife who newly moved to my area, her house behind our compound and she uses it for delivery. This morning we heard someone calling4 help and shouting "God pls dont let dis woman2 die". My hubby said is like somebody is in critical situation thr o. We opened our bak gate door and saw d landlord of d building going in, nd he later came out. I quickly rushed thr, whn i entered I saw d nurse holding a preggy woman. She had a spoon placed in her mouth, d preggy wman hs convulsed. The nurse ws asking me to come nd help her. I asked about d midwife, d nurse said she travelled. I said ok whr is her hubby number let me call him to come quickly and take his wife2d hospital, she does not hv his number. See me shaking, i requested for kernel oil, atleast lets apply it on her, it ws not available. D nurse ws begging me2 assist in holding her. Dat i shld go nd call taxi. As i step out a little boy said he knws her hubby nd whr dey live. Thank goodness, i asked him2 pls go nd call d man, d boy left running. Within a few minutes see d hubby running dwn, nd its someone i knw very well. He brought a car, he ws panicking telling d wife notin will hapn2her. He asked me to cm nd assist in carrying her2d car, mehnn! D wman is so swollen dt it bcam impossible i had2go out called 2men God will reward dem dey came nd d woman ws put in d car naked her wrapper fell out her water don burst, leg so swollen. Dey left wit d nurse, if not for my baby i wud've gone wit dem. Nw i am sooooooooo angry, why? D nurse came bk2 say on d way d hubby decided2 take her2d church dat is attack, attack ke, a man dat saw his wife in dat kind of condition, d baby will be in distress. D nurse left dem thr nd came bk. I pray notin shld happen2 her. I am not just happy 2day cos of d hubby decision. God pls let notin hapn2 dis wman pls. Are dey afraid of cs or wht, cnt jst tell. Thank you all so much for your messages and good wishes. Its well appreciated! May God bless you all and answer your prayers. Please advise, My baby isn't latching to my breast properly, but she's desperately trying to suck. The moment my nipple gets close, she starts suckinh and licking just the surface. She doesn't wait for it to enter her mouth before she closes it (it doesn't help that I have a flattened nipple that refuse to protrude even after manipulating it before putting it to her mouth. Worse still, I'm not even lactating. I was hoping her sucking would pull out the milk from where its hiding. But she's not latching well. It's almost 48 hours of no food, and I'm so unhappy especially that I can't satisfy her hunger when she cries. I've drank a lot of pap, milk, tea, so I can lactate, but nothing yet. It appears I have a large nipple, and her lips are small. I have a flattened nipple that goes in (forgotten what's its called), Most importantly is HOW CAN I MAKE HER LATCH PROPERLY  1 Like 1 Share |

booqee: It is well with you. congrats again. If your princess hasn't been able to eat well in the last 48hrs. pls supplement with milk formula in the mean time abeg while she learns to latch properly gradually. Once she gets a hang of it, you can stop the formula if you want to EBF. check on youtube for videos that will guide you with the latching process. its basically ensuring that your aerola gets inside her mouth and not just your nipple. This will help her not to be sucking air which can make her gassy. also get your breast pump preferably electric to express milk for her. relax your mind too. booqee:i faced this issue last week wen i birthed my baby to d untent that i started crying nd i refused to eat, he was so hungry nd making seriius effort to suck bur my small nipples wasnt helping,, after almost 24hours after birth in dd hospital, a nurse just came and asked me if i wanted to loose my child to hunger, dat i should go nd buy NAN1 ooo, we were 2 with similar issues,, cos it was our first baby, daz how i gv it oo nd he finished it,,, bur i kept putting him to breast, 3dayz later, d story is different now, i hv forgotten where d food is sef nd we r sucking soo well now. |

Hi All, I live in China with my pregnant wife. For some reasons we would be in Nigeria during the period of her expected delivery. Since we confirmed that we would be travelling, we have been trying to find a good and suitable hospital for delivery. In as much as I am worried about getting a good hospital I am also concerned about the cost. I am most concerned about hospital facilities, staff attitude (you know Nigerian nurses attitude), response to complications which might occur during child delivery (not that I am being pessimistic but in situations that concerns health it is good to get ready for the worst while hoping for the best). I will appreciate advice from ladies who have persoanl experiences of pregnancy and child birth and also from people who have very helpful information. I am considering Lagos because of other businesses I have to attend to while in Nigeria. I have read about Reddington Hospital and St. Nicholas. You have to guide your baby through the process by holding your breast to her lips, trust me she will latch on eventually once she feels any form of liquid coming out .In the main please get her formula, I had same experience with my princess, she refused to take the formula the nurses gave her cos she apparently didn't like it. I bought formula on my way home from the hospital and she took it. Now that I'm lactating well, she has learnt to latch on very well. It's a gradual process but pls do not leave your baby hungry. Continue taking loads of pap n hot tea. You can also check milkbooster on instagram. Her cookies and smoothie mix works wonders for lactation. Tried n tested You put to bed in royan hospital right? I was there yesterday for my baby's bcg shot, would have visited unfortunately I don't know who to ask after. Congrats once again dear. 1 Like |

I've tried everything but she sticks her tongue to the top of her mouth making it more difficult. I NEED HELP PLS. |
