Oritsejafor Warns Jonathan Not To Dialogue With Boko Haram by Nobody: 8:55pm On Mar 25, 2012 |
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) National President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor on Sunday in Kaduna warned the Federal Government against any form of dialogue with members of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The CAN leader who spoke at the 46th annual convention of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria, otherwise known as (Hadaddiyar Ekklisiyar Krista A Nigeria, HEKAN), Katsina Road, Kaduna, noted that dialogging with the sect would only lead to insecurity and disunity in the country. According to him, the demand by the sect was such an impossible task that any sensible government will obliged. He added that it was impossible to dialogue with a sect whose demand was unthinkable, saying that “will you discuss with somebody who is saying Nigeria must become a Muslim or an Islamic nation.” “I don’t think any sensible government whether the president is a Muslim or a Christian will want to sit down and discuss such thing because it is the greatest instrument of disunity that this country will ever experience," he said. Oritsejafor, who was the Guest Preacher on the occasion further disclosed that there were seeral other Jihadists group in the country just as he added that it was the media that grouped all into "Boko Haram." He however, stressed the need for dialogue among the different Islamic groups and Christians in the country for better understanding. Said the CAN President: “There are about 26 different groups Jihadists and Islamists. Its you the media that group them together and called Boko Haram. So, I don’t even know who they are and what you are trying to negotiate or dialogue with them. “We, Nigerians must begin to come together and speak as one. No doubt, there are Muslims who are wonderful good people. We are reaching out to them and we are looking for them. Let them join with us. Let’s work together and lets speak the same voice. Let’s not attack each other, let’s not go against each other. “When you see Christians coming out talking strong, it is the pains. Look, let’s be honest, they are the people who are suffering most. Lets be very honest with ourselves and that is why you see them talking and expressing themselves because of the pains they feel. Its not because they don’t want to love one Nigeria. “ I believe we must work together so we are willing, but I believe in progressive dialogue where we sit and set bench mark. We set goals we want to achieve through our dialogue and through that we can begin to achieve. I think it will work well for us if we do that and then all Nigerians must expose evil doers in our midst. We must not allow them to hide. We must expose them. “It will be wise enough to begin to identify this people and expose them.Let them be taken out, don’t be afraid, God will keep you, but we must expose them not as Christians but as Nigerians." www.worldstagegroup.com/worldstagenew/index.php?active=news&newscid=4270&catid=2 |

Dialogue with any terrorist group or criminals isn't the way to go. One only wonders where the pastor was when his kinsmen were killing the innocent and the govt still went ahead to reward their exploits. |
