Cross River communities cry out over dumping of refugees in their localities

Three communities in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State have cried out over the dumping of Fulani refugees in their localities allegedly by the Benue State Government.

The refugees, who are Fulani herdsmen, are said to be indigenes of Taraba State.

Speaking to newsmen on the development, the clan heads of Utanga, Bagga and Besenge communities frowned at the idea of 4,000 Fulani refugees being escorted by armed soldiers, were brought and dumped in their localities without first informing them and seeking their consent.

They, therefore, want the refugees taken to Taraba if the Benue State Government feels it can no longer accommodate them in Katsina Ala, where they were originally domiciled.

According to them, the refugees, who were brought into the area at midnight, came with about 25 herds of cattle which have started grazing on their farm land.

my curious question is this; if the fulani are fleeing because of the fulani/tiv conflict how come they fled to benue the heart of tivland? and why are they fleeing southwards? i thought they'll be better off fleeing northward.

My thoughts exactly. They're being displaced cos of Conflicts with tribes in the Middle belt and instead of relocating them northward they're bringing them further South. This will lead to real problems because those Communities will not tolerate the rubbish they practise

The govt of cross river should make sure those fulanis are evicted to kano,jigawa or katsina.if you give this people any opportunity,within a short time they will start claiming indigineship and asking for their own local government.

Nigerian muslims are the only muslims in the whole world who want to co habit with infidels (christians) despite the fact that their region forbids it.
They have fought loosing millions of people to make sure Christians stay in the same country with them

Na wa o. Trouble in the offing. My problem with Fulani Herdsmen is that they are trouble wherever they go. What concerns them is that their cows and cattle must feed. They dont care if the animals feed on people's farm product or not. Infact, the Herdsmen are ever ready to fight the natives for even daring to complain. Much of the problem natives have with these herdsmen is that their animals graze and destroy farmlands. I dont see any reason why their state government cant create a grazing land for them in their states to avoid these incessant clashes between these herdsmen and natives of the land they go to.

Something must be wrong with these people!

Some of you people are heartless, wicked, and outright dumb. Are these Fulanis not Nigerians who have an inalienable right to live in any part of Nigeria?

Really, something must be immediately done about this because I, with my experience of staying in Jos know that before any major riot or crisis, fulanis, usually parading as herdsmen, jerry can water sellers or okada riders are imported one way or d other.

I can categorically tell u that this is an art of preparation for war.
They are surrounding their enemies. . . .it is gradual.
