Cross River to send the Fulani herdsmen back home

The Cross River state government has decided to send back the 3,000 Fulani herdsmen camping at Bagga, Besenge and Utanga communities in Obanliku Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Liyel Imoke Imoke, who stated this on Tuesday when he visited the internally displaced persons, said the herdmen will be repatriated after arrangements are completed with their respective state governments.

The Governor said the State Emergency Management Agency has been directed to attend to the displaced persons by making available for them some relief materials.

He also assured that a detachment of policemen would be deployed there to ensure safety of lives and property.

A spokesman for the displaced persons, who spoke through an interpreter Alhaji Yusuf Usman, said they fled their homes in Takum, Taraba State due to inter-tribal war between the Fulani and the Tiv. According to him, they had initially moved to Katsina Ala in Benue State from where they fled to Obanliku after threats to their lives.
The refugees thanked the Cross River state government for supplying them with foodstuffs, mattresses, mats and blankets.

Can other tribes leave Lagos and go back to their home state as well?

They were involved in one of the many ethnic conflicts that aflict Jos, Taraba, Nasarawa, Benue etc. Why would anybody welcome them?
have you seen the pics of innocent babies with heads slashed wide open and their corpses burnt? Nobody wants that near home.

Mr. Man, use your sense for just one second. Where has this kind of army sponsored mass migration ever been tolerated?
Or in your warped reasoning, you want to compared it to everyday/normal migration?

They should be sent back ASAP!, cost not withstanding.
They and their soldier escorts should be sternly warned never to come back under any guise or reason.
Matter of fact, their soldier escorts should be tried angry

Let's give peace a chance and cohabit. Not all herdsmen are BH members or believe in BH.

Send them back sharp sharp before they start claiming indigenous, same thing they do in some part of this country. Thank God Imoke isn't negotiating with them or anybody for peaceful co-existence.

their reputation has gone ahead of them. all fulani herders whether in nasarawa, plateau, benue or the south should be sent back until they fully understand and comprehend the words "CIVILISATION" & TRESSPASS

@shymmex:
I believe you are not a Nigerian. How can any reasonable person allow Fulani northerners to be evacuated from the North to the South because they are killing themselves.

How can you keep goat and yam together? Fulani Northerners behave like animals and should not live with normal human beings. The carry live knives and arrows and kills at the slightest provocation.

Let them be kept within their environment- The Northern states. If allowed to stay in the south, they will now form another Boko Haram

am not still satisfied with the reaction of lyel imoke gov of crs.
1. y the prompt response of State Emergengy Board for supply of relief materials, while affected church bomb blast victims of bomb blast receive such prompt attention .
2.we were informed that 4000 wer brought in2 the state by army ,while the gov is confirming 3000 were are the other 1000 or has the conceded to keep 1000 back.
4.y planning to keep police wit those aboki instead of compeling the presidency to draft the same army who smuggle them in to guard them after beign qurried.
pls gov imoke dont gamble wit d lyf of crossriverian who voted u into office.because we perceive evil coming soon.

The fulani's aldo naturally stubborn with this cult-like behavior amongst those I've interacted with are only a victim of circumstance.

They can't continue this their nomadic lifestyles and not hope to clash with the communities they pass through. Most of these clashes arise from their cattle eating up planted crops.

There are no designated cattle/farming areas anywhere in Nigeria and soon enouGh there's bound to be some clash or the other.

They do have a right to live or reside anywhere in Nigeria, but not enmass in the thousands. What's the population of their host communities and how are we sure that the eco-system of that area can sustain 3000 more people, more so, individuals who derive their daily bread from the nomadic cattle rearing.

There's a lot of work to done to get these fulani's to live in peace in the rest of us.
