My attention was drawn to a post created by Zeeleso, an article with so much hypocrisy. Some points were in line with the current situation of Nigeria while she blatantly refused to balance up the article. Why is she not making case for the Southerners with no voice? She refused to first put her house in order by channeling her complaints to her leaders (representative in government) before coming to this forum to accuse Southerners.

No doubt, Nigeria is evenly divided between Christian and Muslim. Islam’s influence in the West (I mean both NW, SW and parts of NC) and Christian dominance in the East (both NW,SE and parts of NC). We are aware of Usman Dan Folio`s crusade which led to the dominance of Islam in the West and how his was resisted by the Borno empire which halted the fast spread of Islam towards the entire East. The Europeans came and Christianity was quickly embraced by the East (NC, NE, SE and SS) and parts of the West (SW).

The Islamic crusaders do not just make converts of the locals but also hijacked their political settings. The emirs were installed wherever Islam is rooted. The locals with contrary faith especially Christians were edged out of the scheme of things. They were left with no representative in the government and their voice were not heard. This is what we met and made to believe that it should remain that way. No wonder when one emir speaks, he will authoritatively claim that he represent the entire view of the North. This configuration was not the making of the Southerners. If the today’s Northern Christians want a change they should go about it the proper way by channeling it through their representatives in the State and National Assemblies.

On paper we are one Nation but in reality we are not. What is Federal Character? Zeelos came here to brag of her degrees. Do you know how many Southerners that gave up their dream of being educated just for you to get educated? In every one Borno, Jigawa or Gombe being admitted in the university, ten Imo or Ondo indigene will have to forfeit their place (ask JAMB and WAEC for this fact). You said your mum bagged her Masters twenty years ago. D you know how many Southern mothers that have to abandon their education for prostitute in Italy in quest of a better life? Do you know how many Southerners that has to abandon education and become area boys just for the North to be educated? How many Southerners get bursary in the University not to talk of Secondary school, but the North get all this? Do you know how many Southerners that has to go for boy boy (servant) just for their Northern brothers to be educated? Do you know how many Southerners that has to give up their dream to serve their fatherland in a ministry just for you to get a slot in the name of Federal Character? Do you know how many Southerners that have to be duped by fake Universities because they couldn’t meet up with the too high cut-off mark because the North must fill in their reserved space? Do you know how many lives and properties lost in the North by Southerners all in the name of one country? These are the Southerners the North don’t know. Space wouldn’t permit me to go on. I got to hang my pen for now.

Ask your leaders to scrap Federal Character and Indigeneship then we will take you serious.
