I don't understand how so many of you rush to discount penalties as if penalty taking is not a vital skill in itself.

As you probably remember, it was Scholes missed penalty that lost Manyoo the FA Cup final in 2005. And in Moscow 2008 he was removed in the 90th minute when it looked like a penalty shooutout could be on the cards.

Scholes was crap at Pens and the fact that he only scored 1 out of 3 attempts for Manyoo in the league tells is another example of why he is inferior to Gerrard

My. He missed twice out 3 league attempts. He missed his spot kick in the final. He was so rubbish that he was not allowed to take PKs again. And that's the one we've seen. I wonder how dreadful he must have been on the training ground...

The sample size cannot be larger because the best Pk takers are assigned to take PKs. Is it someone that keeps missing that will kep getting further chances to miss? Gerrard was one of the best, Scholes wasnt. End of.
