Beaf: There is no reinstatement. Why do 9ja's love rumours?
All that has happened is an NJC recommendation, which I believe the President will ignore (especially as the IGP has reopened the MTN telephone saga - more heads will roll cool).

when the NJC under Alu recommended the suspension, the RETARDEEN went ahead sharp sharp to act, now they have accepted they were wrong and recommended a reversal. MTN phone saga is bullshit waste of time. Salami till date is innocent and incorruptible judge (NJC has proven this). i also await the retardeen's response on this.

The corrupt justice is well known to us now,so whether re-instated or not,he is seriously damaged goods(for Tinubu and his ACN gang) and wont be allowed to steal electoral mandates the way he did in time past before he was exposed as a corrupt lying crook.

2015 is around the corner,so there will be a lot of intriguing horse-trading.Tinubu is such a lucky (and smart) bast$$$d,in return for some little favours here and there,he will eventually support the PDP presidential candidate(directly or indirectly),the under currents have started building and every student of power politics in this country can't but notice

its interesting to note that the real corrupt people in the judicial system were used by Abacha. These goats are still there though still being used by the RETARDEEN.

Several sources within the National Judicial Council (NJC) have disclosed to SaharaReporters the intrigues and behind-the-scene maneuvers that nearly sabotaged the council’s vote earlier today to reinstate the suspended President of Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami. In separate interviews, these sources detailed the drama and tension orchestrated by a cabal that vehemently opposed Mr. Salami’s return to his job.

According to these sources who were part of the closed door meeting, the opposition to Justice Salami’s returned was spearheaded by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Ibrahim Auta.

Mr. Auta is the notorious judge who was used by former military dictator, Sani Abacha, to hand down a verdict that led to the execution of environmental rights activist and leader of the Movement for the Sovereignty of the Ogoni People, Ken Saro-Wiwa along with eight other Ogoni activists.

SaharaReporters learnt that the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Joseph Bodunrin Daudu, also joined Justice Auta in opposing Justice Salami’s reinstatement. Incidentally, Mr. Daudu and Justice Auta worked in tandem in the hanging trial of Mr. Saro-Wiwa, with the NBA boss serving as the government’s lead prosecutor during the trial of Saro-Wiwa and his compatriots before Auta’s kangaroo tribunal.

Peter Umeadi, a member of the NJC, emerged as another strong campaigner against the recall of Justice Salami. Curiously, Mr. Umeadi’s late uncle, Philip Umeadi, also served on the Auta panel that sentenced Mr. Saro-Wiwa to death in a highly controversial and widely condemned 1995 trial in Port Harcourt.

Our sources revealed that 20 members of the NJC attended today’s meeting which was chaired by the outgoing Chief Justice of the Federation, Dahiru Musdapher.

The NJC had earlier constituted a committee led by Justice Alooma Muktar to help resolve the impasse created by the suspension of Justice Salami. The Alooma panel was mandated to liaise with all interested parties in the suspension saga crisis and submit a recommendation to the NJC for consideration.

The committee, which also had Olisa Agbakoba, a former President of the Civil Liberty Organization, as a member, reportedly met with the suspended judge and proposed that he accept to retire from the bench as a condition for his reinstatement. “I know that the Justice Alooma committee told Justice Salami that they would recommend his recall, but they wanted him to agree to retire as soon as he was reinstated,” said one of our sources. The source added that Justice Salami flatly rejected the condition, asserting that he was willing to continue his lawsuit against his illegal removal. The source said that Justice Alooma, Justice Pius Aderemi (rtd), Rotimi Akeredolu and Mr. Agbakoba supported his position that he would not retire.

One source told SaharaReporters that some members of the reconciliation committee persuaded Justice Alooma to have their group recommend an unconditional recall of Justice Salami. The source revealed that Mr. Agbakoba was then assigned the task of writing the panel’s report.

“That report was presented to the NJC at today’s meeting despite Justice Auta’s fierce reservation and opposition,” said one source.

Justice Auta had earlier written a report that accused Justice Salami of abusing his office as the President of the Court of Appeal.

The pattern of the 10-8 voting that clinched Justice Salami’s reinstatement revealed the nature of entrenched interests within and outside the judiciary that took a position on the matter.

SaharaReporters gathered that Justice Umaru Abdullahi, a former President of the Court of Appeal, aligned with Justice Auta in voting against Salami’s reinstatement. Justice Emmanuel Ayoola, the former chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), abstained from voting. The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Inumidun Akande, who was reportedly embedded with the anti-Salami crew, absented herself from the meeting.

Others who opposed the move to reinstate Justice Salami included Justice Moses A.D. Bello, the president of the Customary Court of Appeal in Abuja, and the Chief Judge of Benue State, a crony of former Chief Justice of Nigeria Aloysius Katsina-Alu.

Our sources revealed that the pro-Salami members were led by former Supreme Court Justice Pius Aderemi, Olisa Agbakoba and included a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Rotimi Akeredolu, Justice Alooma and Chief Justice Dahiru Mustapha of the Supreme Court. Other supporters included National Industrial Court President, Babatunde Adejumo, and Justice Aloma Muktar. Onueze Chukwujinka Okocha, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, also voted for Justice Salami’s reinstatement.

So he decided to suspend the man till after rigging and manipulating himself into ASO ROCK. Anyway, make I see the thing wey JONA FEAR> After all na him say him be Oga and na him say the election is free fair and credible, so why him dey fear na?

It is sad that Homo Sapiens keeps enlarging the coast of Injustice, but keep asking for peace.
No man can be glad with Robbers disposesing him of his hard earned possesion.
This Drama has brought it to the fore that Jonathan is as dirty as OBJ(children of the PDP clan).
However, why should we keep asking what Boko Haram wants from Nigeria?
I thing It is simple,
(1) Since our constitution discriminates between the rich and the poor,
(2) Since our constitution bows before the Government and its officials while ruthless with the citizen;
(3) If Jonathan could do this Abracadabra to see Buhari robbed of a chance to a fair hearing,
Why should we blame Boko for their unrest?
It is human to desire a change. A change to a new constitution they feel better than the trash we have now.
If Boko Haram could become a well supported guerillas that takes North as an independent country fine. Though it must not become an imposition on the other regions of this jungle-called Nigeria.
Buhari was robbed. If not, Jonathan doesnt need all these film tricks.
Now Jonathan has added robbery into some of his cap of ills.
He has no moral reason to be called President. At least by me.
Sad country.

Has anybody answered why the judge was calling one side of a case with his MTN phone?
The old man never heard about phone logs? Even if he was negotiating price with his ACN customers, he should have just gone to their home, gets settled, and return with ghana must go full of #1000 notes. Then, there would have been no need for MTN phone calls.
Re: Justice Ayo Salami Reinstated As President Of Court Of Appeal? by corexel: 9:44am On May 12, 2012
The corrupt, dirty-looking, semi-literate swine will never make it back to the PCA seat. The cesspit called NJC may recommend, but Mr. President (dumb as he is) reserves the right to reject that useless body’s preposterous recommendation. Here’s a man who was perverting the course of justice with Bola Tinubu’s ACN. MTN has been compelled by the weight of evidence against it, to admit that the call logs that it earlier disavowed did emanate from its offices. It then means that an undeservedly highly placed judicial officer tampered with evidence. What justification, then, does the NJC have, to want to reinstate a man that MTN has now confirmed was interacting with ACN chieftains and the party’s legal representatives during the pendency of the Ekiti and Osun Appeal cases; in clear breach of the code of conduct for judicial officers? NJC stinks!!! The judiciary does not belong to the NJC, though. Therefore, that decision, if ratified by dummy Jonathan would sound the death knell for an already diminished and tarnished judiciary. We will challenge it to the hilt.

The NJC considered this crap and felt there is no truth in it. That explains why the majority wants him back.

Re: Justice Ayo Salami Reinstated As President Of Court Of Appeal? by FrankC3: 2:42pm On May 12, 2012
He can't be re-instated. He may be recommended to be recalled ny thesame body that has the authority to sack or recall him. However, when you place it side by side with the terms of his employment, he has actually retired in arrears. His recall, not reinstatement is actually an academic excercise.
But na war for some NLers oh! Have you noticed that thesame people that called NJC clueless when his sack wan recommended are thesame people celebrating NJC's recall rcommendation. Does it mean that NJC is both 'clueless' and 'clueful'. And the ultimate question is why is that that the internal procedural self cleansing structure built into Nigerian Judiciary is of so much interest to most ACN peeps. Is this an attempt to politicise the the judiciary?

u got that wrong. NJC under the corrupt leadership of katsina-Alu remote controlled by the Retardeen was miserable. Some bad eggs are still in the system though. However as it is now, under this new leadership, more its quite different.

How painful can this be that a thief would come and steal what I worked hard for not considering my money but my effort, ekiti state oni and fayemi as at 1pm the election trend of voting were oni 3,000 fayemi 15,000 and all of a sudden only one local govt.,produces 2m voters and oni wins the same local govt the incumbent and the challenger come from on ground Oni isn't personally liked, Fayemi is well known and liked, how did oni pull this off he sends fayose boys, that he inherited and then distabilizes the local govt, carries the ballot box to a canteen its stuffed with muhammed ali name, micheal jackson name idi ami et al, and the police are told to escort the ballot box by 3pm to INEC office (PDP) all of us see it watch it and on the spot the resident electoral commissioner shouts fraud, but then says the best thing is for the judiciary to take over and rather then cancel it the judiciary should do the work, Osun the same happens only its worst people are beaten on the day of elections opposition members were not allowed entry into the state, aregbe car is vandalised the ACN chairman is arrested for holding a licensed gun for his personal security against the same hoodlums, house to house campaign has been done people were rejoicing aregbe had 18000 votes while lagun had 3000 next thing we here by 3pm is it was a mistake it was lagun that had 18000 while aregbe had 3000 the battle went to court and forensic test was done the truth is revealed lagun reprinted another set of returning forms and stole aregbe votes, aregbe had been beaten by thugs he car vandalised in board day light his campaign managers had been assassinated and unfair injustice done him and his supporters, Ondo state at 10am it was iroko iroko at 12noon iroko was still gathering more support but at 4pm it was declared agagu the pedo.phile (not just saying it they caught him in the act) was declared winner O! What a perversion of the people rights he raped the women and men in board day light, they stole from the people they stole another mans mandate, and should the man according to some people have just allowed it to go? Maybe in the next 10years if you/they vie for political office the same treatment should be mete out to you/them! if you don't and your children vie for even head boy the same treatment would be mete out to them they have forgotten about posterity - INEC passes the baton knowing court case restraining order upon restraining order would be gotten against them canceling anything let the court do the work and then in the face of these concrete evidences a Hon man is vilified he wasn't even sitting as head of the appeals but came in as the president to give final judgments what a country and some people say he shouldn't return after an undue castigation of his person justice was not FULLY SERVICED he should have sentenced the thieves to death by firing squad for out right stealing and indirect killing and shedding of innocent blood.
