Shameless Nigeria Leaders, Deluded Politicians by vowiski(m): 2:05am On May 29, 2012
THE BusyWire writes: Fifty years down the road, Nigeria is still in shambles, our founding fathers failed us, our leaders still happily thread cowardly on that path of failure. Surely, our children will inherit that same failure on monumental proportion.

A country so blessed with abundant and salubrious resources, a country where our colonial master enriched themselves with vast and enormous wealth but as soon as we realized we could manage these resources, our woes started. The people we entrusted the progress and growth of this nation successfully aggravated the pains of every Nigerians, catapulted their selfish interest, ensuring that looting, tribalism, nepotism, ethnocentrism and political jingoism were the order of the day.

Today, despite civilization, we still find ourselves’ threading on the path to complete darkness, making many to believe that Nigeria is a bug that has effectively drawn the entire world backward. This is not surprising, given the fact that in 2012, we still struggle to find mouth-watering jobs, struggle for transportation, struggle to get admission, struggle to graduate, struggle for government promotion. In this same 2012 of global civilization, basic and primary amenities like power, portable water, and health care are invisible. Nigerians are suffering constantly because our leaders were manipulated into office and their incompetence has been displayed in full glory. What do we leave to our generation? A nation with so much pain, hates and sorrow? But wait, let me ask, what generation? Is it the ones that have been baptized with corruption and malpractices in high definition? Are these the people who would re-engineer a nation that have retarded every policy that brings growth to other developed and developing nations? If you think your answer is yes, then you really need to think again.

I really feel ashamed of the kind of leaders we parade in full glory to the entire world. I feel sad because at a point when Nigeria is on verge of total disintegration and have been swallowed by enormous security threats, our leaders and politicians could do noting but debate and heat-up the polity of an upcoming election in 2015. What kind of politicians if not deluded would constantly distract a government (as if they ever had a direction) over an election that is not even months close. Deluded might just be an understatement to characterize these politicians who subscribe to the born-to rule mantra, who think it is their birth right to rule a nation of over 150 million people. Politicians who have no clue on how to manage their homes let alone govern a society vastly populated with tribal and ethnic sentiments.
