When did education, and economics became the same thing?

Are there not poor people in the South, who are highly educated?

You're not making sense at all. undecided

Education requires MONEY!

Even an unemployed educated person would not join Boko Haram grin grin grin

I see that your ilk supports tyrants like Gaddafi, Kim Jong Il and Assad. Sad. . .

If these countries were such paradises before, then in the case of Libya and Syria, their people would not have rose up to challenge the authority of the regimes. It is the will of the people.

The people of Libya were tired of Gaddafi. The Sunni majority in Syria are tired of being ruled by a dictator from the small Alwawite sect.

And you and your ilks are the reason why the whole world is messed up with your linear thought process... How about watch alternative news media for the first time in your life - and stop being a freaking robot??

There are always two sides to every story, that's why critical thinking is important..

If America was paradise, the unemployment rate won't be 15% - and there won't be homeless people everywhere, and more than 20% of the population on welfare... Why can't AMerica focus on those crying for help in its own country??

America is so perfect, yet you have only two parties - and both are controlled by banksters, AIPAC, and plutocrats..

Democrats and Republicans - two sides to the same coin... Give a new party with a different ideology a chance for the first time in your damn pathetic history.

My bro it's funny to me with the comments some ignorant people are giving here on NL. The best thing that the US can give you is what will be beneficial to them in the long run.
Here are the list of some countries that the US has intervened and their situation got worsen
-Libya
-Iraq
-vietnam
-Somalia
Etc. We all remember how strong and developed Iraq was before the invasion of the US. But it heat me hard when some people ignorantly pray for the intervention of the US in my beloved country. I'm not saying the situation presently is favorable, but we should come together and reason, identify our problems and find possible solutions to them. But the illiteracy in the North and the disunity between the Southern regions pose a great barrier.

One thing is certain if the break up eventually happen, the recognition of each formed republic(from the broken Nigeria)in Africa not to talk of the world would not be different from the ones countries like Mozambique, Namibia etc has. But lot of us are ignorant of this.
I pray we realize this before it's too late cry

SmoothCrim: I ultimately agree with the conclusions of the committee. The real issue is economics. Solve that and there would not be a problem. The North is much poorer than the South and that is where the problem starts. Another problem is there are too many distinct ethnic groups who don't have much of a relationship with each other prior to colonialism thus, there is a real mess of trying to create that now. On top of that when Tyou add corruption and the desire for power(the people be damned) you get what is ultimately a failed state which can't secure it's borders, can't give its citizens needed resources(in the midst of abundance) and other ills. Those who suffer the most from this is the common Northerner which is suffering from extreme poverty when compared to the South.

Who forced poverty on the north? They send kids to bearded mallams at tender age where they grow up learning to beg, and to become intolerably indoctrinated, what then would you expect from them? Would you compare them to the more ambitious southerners who send their children to study western education (Haram), or to learn panel-beating, welding, etc,?

And, the elites there encourage the almajiri system by taking care of these mallams financially. They praise the mallams for jobs well done. Ironically, their own kids have special part-time mallams who come to their houses only when invited so that the kids' western education would not be disrupted. This is how the super-rich politicians and business tycoons of the north leash children of the poor to the stem of poverty. These kids are now the hounds that have been let loose on Nigerians.

As long as you keep calling them "The North" and not seeing them as the same as you the problem will not be solved. If the country is one country then their problems are your problems. Ultimately all this is proving is that the country is divided but, cannot divide because the North will not be a viable state and we will get 2 failed states in West Africa instead of one.

Honestly, posts like these annoy me seriously. Who made the north poor? Is it my father? Or my local government chairman? Is it not the same leaders of the north? Did they not have the power and control for over 40 years? Was Buhari not in charge of PTF for so many years and was giving an almost limitless purse? What did he do with it? What did the northern presidents do with their powers from gowon to Yaradua? They were sponsoring hajj for 40 years! Now the new one is, they are arguing about Ramadan rams and doling out wives to men while their southern governors are building serious infrastructure for the future. It is a southern president that is even building Almajiri school for you folks. This is just crazy. And you lot will never hold your leaders accountable. All your governors rule their states from Abuja. You think we dont know what is happening? Go to the so called local governments that are collecting monthly allocation. All they do is come to the office at the end of the month and share the allocation and go back to Abuja or france or the US. Their children are driving porche cars in the UK and US. IBB did not even do anything for his own state Niger. There is no industry, no schools, no hospitals, nada! same with Shagari, Gowon and Abacha. Every year, some of your states produce like 10 to 20 graduates and they are immediately given ridiculous jobs that are supposed to be for people with PHD and 20 years experience. Now you are supporting the destruction of your own land. Can you imagine the reverse mindset? Thinking that it will help you gain power back. What a stup1d way to think.

You folks have been serious dead weight for 50+ years. Get off our back so we can move on. pathetic!

All the southern governors are giving their people free education. Why are the northern state governors not doing the same? Why are they not encouraging their people to go to school? Is it the southern leaders that will go and beg the average northerner to go to school? Rochas is even paying students to go to school. What are the governors of Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara, etc doing to lift the educational status of their people? Is it FG that should do it for them? Is it the FG that is doing it for the southern states? This is very annoying! You people need to wake up, take a look at yourself and tell yourself the truth. You have been bewitched and raped by your leaders. Go back and take it up with them. Your leaders started and instituted corruption in Nigeria. Ask tham what they have done with the allocations since 1960. You are here typing crap on the Internet while states like Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Enugu, Imo and more are turning into great states. Even the slow Delta and Bayelsa and Ebonyi are gradually joining the train. If you dont change now, you will wake up one day and will require visas to enter these places, mark my words!

Presently, the US is everything to Nigeria, and also Nigeria is 'something' to US all because of the Oil.

1. Oil export accounts to 90% of Nigeria's export earnings
2. US purchase 70% of Nigeria's crude oil
3. Most lucrative Oil and Gas Investments in Nigeria are US owned
4. Nigeria's most valuable foreign currency is the US Dollar

Now tell me why the US won't be concerned about Nigeria's future.

By the way, I am also advocating for the peaceful division of Nigeria.

If the US and her Nato allies with their sophisticated weapons and training can not defeat merely Ak47 wielding Talibans in Afghanistan after ten solid years, nobody should be under illusion then that they can elininate boko haram with their drones. It even became difficult for US troops in Afghanistan to the level Joe Biden US vice president said in December last year ''Taliban is not our enemy''.
Lets compare Iraq,Libya, somalia and Afghanistan before and after the west interventions.
Those Nigerians who want US drones should please ask the people of Nortwest Pakistan what they are going through, where only few militants are killed by US unmanned drones while majority of the dead are innocent civilians.

We should solve our problem without inviting the west, the northern elders, politicians, immans all have big role to play.{although sometimes i ask what nothern immans really teach their followers}.
If we cannot stop boko haram menace, we must then follow Soviet Union style, divide without shedding blood.
Calling US for help to fight boko haram is like a remedy which is worse than the illness.

Dunno how we want to do it. But personally, am tired of waking up and seeing hundreds of souls massacred in church or villages, just on d basis of their religion or ethnicity. It's really annoying, not even in this new century. Truth be told, d north is really drawing us back, cos they have vehemently refused western education, and if a break up will bring ceasefire, then so be it. Dont care if d u.s.a takes all our oil, as long as we have peace and development, cos we've have failed to manage ourself, due to greed and selfishness.

SmoothCrim: Well it started from how the country was colonized. Too much focus was on the areas by the ocean. This trend has not been reversed but, has rather deepened and gotten worse since due to those who had a little bit having the knowledge to get more while those who had nothing remaining stagnant. In the end if Nigeria had a leader like Nkrumah early on and had invested in bridging the gap the situation would be much better now than previously.

I told them this would happen but nobody would listen. The US has moved on to the second stage. Now is the time to perpetuate it,blow it out of proportion, put it in the limelight. Then start repeating it to their people until their people internalized that nigeria is a terrorist infested country and a threat to the USA and that would make it more acceptable when they want to deal with the threat with force(which is the ultimate goal here) .
Remember as i said in another thread, the main deterrent of these imperialist nations is our large number which makes it unreasonable to use a military solution. Once they can get us into pieces they would take us one after another.
