Speaking at the presentation yesterday, the Deputy Governor who holds the traditional title of Olimene of Attah said, “HRM Attah Igala as King Of the 9th Largest Ethnic Nationality in Nigeria is the face of the Igala nation and his appearance must show class,royalty and purity. We give thanks to Governor Yahaya Bello who lifted a lot of progressive minded and passionate leaders in just few years.”

Senator Jibrin Isah in his remark commended the young but vibrant Deputy Governor for believing in the land of his birth and placing the people first. “A new Igala land has emerged. This is the same way we jointly built The “Unyi Udama Amo ma Igala”( Igala Unity House) under the able leadership of His Excellency, Chief Edward Onoja and we are set to complete two guest houses at Ayingba- Dekina And Ankpa for the exclusive use of our royal father the Attah Igala. The Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) has made public the list of 2,510 teachers and 320 unskilled staff recruited by the state government to boost the deficit of teachers in primary schools across the state.

The statement enjoined all applicants who sat for the written and oral examinations to check their names in their various local government areas across the state from tomorrow 25/10/2019.

The statement signed by the public relations officer of the Board comrade Idris Kolo, added that the appointment will take effect from 2nd November, 2019 and urged all the successful applicants to collect their offer of appointment and commence documentation immediately.

Anyone who comes across, or knows the whereabouts of Barr Leo Ekpenyong owes the society a responsibility of immediately informing the Akwa Ibom State police command or the nearest police station.

Akwa Ibom State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko revealed that Ekpenyong, the lawyer who had alleged a $1.5m bribe against Governor Emmanuel and Justice W. O. Akanbi, has been declared wanted by the police following his escape after being granted bail from police custody in Uyo.

Barr Nwoko on Wednesday in a radio interview in Uyo disclosed that “the fugitive lawyer was apprehended Monday last week from his hideout in Abuja by the Police for blackmailing the state governor and Judges, was flown down to Akwa Ibom on Tuesday by the police and was to be arraigned in court the following day.

“The police told me on Wednesday, that he was granted bail on Tuesday night and was expected to report back the following day.

According to Nwoko, "The information we got from the police is that Leo Ekpenyong was taken on bail by Victor Antai. On Wednesday, He (Antai) showed up and said Leo Ekpenyong was hospitalized". The police told me they followed him to the hospital and were able to sight the Leo Ekpenyong on a bed, but he refused to get up from the bed”.

“By Thursday last week, both the surety Mr Victor Antai and the fugitive lawyer Ekpenyong, had escaped from the state and their whereabouts unknown until they were tracked by the police to Abuja.”

Assuring that the police was on top of the matter, the Chief Law Officer of the state further hinted that the runaway lawyer has been tracked by security agents, and the person who stood surety for him been tracked by the Police and would soon be apprehended to face the law.

"I want Akwa Ibom people and the entire Nigerians to know that Leo Ekpenyong will be brought to book. Barr. Ekpenyong lives on blackmail, but I've told him this time around the long arms of the law will catch up with him. Leo is engaging in outright blackmail, not constructive criticism". He goes about destroying people's character, integrity and reputation".

"He has been declared wanted. Anywhere anybody sees him, he should be reported to the nearest police station or Akwa Ibom State Police headquarters", he added.

Leo Ekpenyong in a strongly worded press release had alleged that he had sufficient proofs that Governor Emmanuel bribed the National Assembly elections petitions tribunal, presided over by Justice W. O. Akanbi with $1.5m.

This prompted Barr Nwoko to respond by asking for an immediate retraction and apology within seven days, failure of which legal consequences would be applied.

The Niger State government has mapped out an alternative route for heavy duty vehickes in the state.

This is coming following constant rain and incessant movement of heavy duty vehicles which has retrograded many sections of the Suleja-Minna road.

To arrest this situation, Niger State Government has since restricted the movement of heavy duty vehicles on the road from 9pm to 6am to provide timely succor for ordinary travelers who mostly travel during the day time.

In a statement signed by his aide on Public enlightenment, Abdubergy Ebbo, he noted that Governor Sani Bello couldn’t bear the sufferings of the people anymore and since instructed that funds were released for the repairs of the bad sections along the route.

“Even as we hope that the Federal Government will soon intervene and complete the Suleja-Minna road, the Niger State Governor, however, is still committed to the project of completion of the road.

“Governor Abu Sani Bello intends to see to it that the success recorded between Kwakuti and Lambata is similarly replicated between Kwakwuti and Chanchaga to ensure a smooth ride down to Minna.”

“He mapped out Bida-Agaie-Lambata as the designated route for movement of heavy duty vehicles passing through Niger state. “

It will be recalled that the Federal Government recently awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the road but work is yet to begin.

A married Texas science teacher who was arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 17-year-old student has submitted a guilty plea to a judge. Sarah Fowlkes, 28, was arrested in March 2017 for allegedly having an illicit relationship with the unnamed student. She was charged with engaging in ‘sexual contact with the intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of’ the alleged victim.

Following her arrest, Fowlkes was suspended from her job at Lockhart High School in Texas. If found guilty of the alleged illicit relationship during a trial, she faces up to 20 years behind bars.

Fowlkes was in a Caldwell County court Wednesday to submit her guilty plea, which the judge has not yet accepted, KVUE reported.

If the plea is accepted Fowlkes would serve 4 years deferred adjudication, surrender her teaching license and pay a fine. The amount of the proposed fine has not been released yet.

In Texas, deferred adjudication is a type of probation. If the term is completed successfully, the person will not have a conviction on their record.

The judge said Wednesday that he could take as many as eight weeks to consider Fowlkes guilty plea. Should he decline to accept the terms, her lawyer, Jason Nassour, said that she would withdraw the plea.

Fowlkes made headlines after her mugshot, in which she sported an ear-to-ear smile, went public.

At the time, Nassour said that she was ‘smiling because she knows she is innocent.’

‘This isn’t a guilty person sitting there like they just got caught,’ Nassour told KXAS. ‘When everything’s fleshed out, it won’t be as it appears.’

Fowlkes, who has worked as a biology teacher at Lockhart High School since October 2014, was booked into Caldwell County Jail just hours after celebrating her birthday with her husband.

Lockhart police had obtained an arrest warrant for Fowlkes who turned herself in.Nassour added that Fowlkes ‘was arrested on the statement of a 17-year-old kid with no corroborating evidence.’

Police say they found evidence of messages exchanged between her and the student. ‘Their contact was of a sexual nature,’ said police.
