An eye witness claims traders traveling to Dubai were arrested and detained for having more than $4,000 cash. They claimed it is an order from above. Many may deny or discard this, but it is a matter of time, the truth will surely prevail. My question is this, what kind of economy are we running now? Is it Communism or Terrorism? 9 Likes |

PDP is very right. Only kids and those who wait for monthly handouts will jubilate over the madness of Buhari and his CBN. They are choking life out of international business. Let me educate you folks. We have a service which we procure from overseas, we have a client in Nigeria who needs the service; We pay our vendor in Dollars, so our client has to pays us in Dollars. The business is transacted in dollars, We am not thieves. We have nothing to do with oil let alone oil money. We are not laundering any money for any body. The policy has barred our client from paying using dollars. Yet, We must pay our vendor in dollars. Those of you who are haling it should explain to us how we can continue our business. This archaic and myopic policy will simply snuff life out of our genuine efforts. It is like banning cars because armed robbers use it to operate. You can force Naira to improve in value, but you cannot force the economy to grow, Well, am I surprised? Didnt Buhari jail Fela for coming into Nigeria with Dollars he earned from handwork. Do I blame Buhari? Has he ventured into any business? What does he know about money? Did he not despise the business men when he visited the US? Politics / A Thank You Message To Obama. by arm4u: 9:22pm On Jul 25, 2015 |
Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, Thanks for you visit to Africa. "Thanks a million" for your message of liberalism and appeal for gay wrongs emm, sorry, rights. So when are you going to bring message of industrialisation? What efforts are you making for us as Africans to start exporting food, cloths, shoes, bags, electronics, cars, etc just like America? Or even if we cannot export, at least produce what we can consume. You seem so bothered about this gay thing but you are not bothered about the our poverty thing. Or you dont know that we Africans are selling off our natural resources to import canned poisons in the name of food from other? Dont you know we are even selling our lands to import arms to kill one another? Honestly, I am beginning to have doubts if you are really African. Okay you are in blood but in soul and spirit, you are something else. Dear Obama, who and what exactly are you? |

Imanuelle: Too bad if you see it so. Yet I am sure that explained that i deribrately employed sarcasm in the post. The fact is that our consciousness is to buy and buy and that even constant electricity might mean that we shall buy more and more. And we are saying, we need to shift from the way ww think. When the chinese thinks of Cell phone, he thinks of how to produce it, but when the Nigerian thinks of cell phone, he thnks of how to buy it. This is what are pointing out! The extension box, the sockect, the wires, the change over switch, the meter (if any), the transmission cables, etc are all imported. We are saying it is time for us to rise up and consider industrialisation so we can start producing these things. Then there will be less imports, more jobs and our nation shall prosper! |

eddiebruk: When the Constant Electricity comes, we will cross that bridge...even a blind man knows what to do with money. the average African thinks of what he will buy with any money tnat enters his hand. This is what we are campaigning against. So many of our corrupt leaders have access to good money, what have they done with it? Our consciouness is not yet producing, we are more of consumers. Even, those underemployed ll leave those starving jobs and face thier businesses. Let that time comes and you ll see that we are not lazy but hardworking and creative. Yours might seem funny, but you it has added some tunic. Now, I am saying that rather than be thinking about the "light" as a solution to making eba, start seeing "light" in a different perspective. Light can do much more than making of eba. Start thinking of using electricity to "fry garri". That is, start thinking in this wise: "how can I use electricity to produce garri in commercial quantities? This is what this thread is all about. Osgilliat: @ op you tried but you aint thinking out of the box..constant electricity in nigeria will bring about so many thing u can never think of...like the importation of generator will decrease, industries will be introduced. .fuel consumption will deplete, standard of living will be better, okada riders will be back to their work for those who are into iron construction, tailoring etc even frozen food seller income will high..bcose no more buying of fuel...manufacturers will pay their workers more bcose no more buying fuel.... fine and good! My post is nothing else but for us to create the consciousness in our nation that constant power supply is an occasion for industrialization, productivity and even exportation for national economic growth! go back and read the post again this time more carefully. |

Imanuelle: Have you thought that Mr obi no longer has to spend from his income to buy kerosene to use in his lamp ? The National consciousness in China is to produce and export. That nation can never be poor as long as they continue with that mentality. My post is a call for such consciousness! |
Politics / Re: The "Dangers" Of 247 Power Supply! by arm4u: 3:25pm On Aug 30, 2013 |
collynzo2: Your argument is a very narrow one. To produce rice in commercial quantities, you need mills and mills need electricity to function. You will be surprised at the amount of manufactured products we export to some of our neighboring countries who always boast of having more regular electricity than us. Our productivity will only get better with constant electricity. Those people you think will only use electricity for relaxation will get used to the constant power supply with time and find something better to do with it. If you think all those shoes, bags etc. you mentioned do not need electricity to be produced in large quantities, you are making a huge mistake. The bolded has attracted my attention: I am saying there is need for a national consciousness of "doing something better with electricity". We should start thinking of how to maximise it even before it arrives. The rest of your points are mere misunderstanding of my position. What if I tell you now, that my original post only used "247 PS" to buttress the point of changing our mentality from that of importing to that of exporting? Else, my concern has nothing to do with electricity. |
Politics / Re: The "Dangers" Of 247 Power Supply! by arm4u: 1:06pm On Aug 30, 2013 |
MAYOWAAK: Poster,Your argument is so parochial. What about artisans who have been turned to emergency okada riders because of epileptic power supply?e.g barbers, tailors etc It will surely help all those you mentioned! yet, I am talking about a general mentality in Africa! 247 Power Supply will go a long way to increase productivity for those who are into production! The question is: what percentage of our populace are into production? What percentage are thinking about it? Industrialists are too few when compared to the population! Like I said, our general mentality is to "import and consume" and not to "produce and export". Over here, we are struggling so much, to make money so we can "import" what we need, while nations like China are struggling also, but struggling to see what they can "export". I am saying that our mentality as a people should shift from importation and consumption to production and exportation. This is the heart of the matter! That we should start thinking of maximizing the availability of 247 PS when ever we have it. |

eddiebruk: patrkq: Yaa.. I get wer u ar coming from Your points are all in order but you seem not have grasped my view point! You are writing as I am saying that we don't need constant electricity. Check around and see: most of the shoes, cloths, bags, etc are all imported. Even rice is imported! And do we need electricity to produce rice, corn, beans, etc. Let me even leave out our technologically based products! We are yet to have the industrialization/production mentality! Our mentality is more of what to import and consume than what to produce and export. I am only calling for a change of mentality: a mentality that will get us to start thinking like the Chinese. A mentality that will see us maximize the use of electricity. |
Politics / Re: The "Dangers" Of 247 Power Supply! by arm4u: 12:00pm On Aug 30, 2013 |
eddiebruk: I am sorry to say this: you are out of point! I don't know where you got the bolded from because it was not anywhere in my post. My subject matter is this: We want 247 Power Supply and for what? Majority of the populace are not going to use it for production, they are going to use it only for "consumption"! We are going to purchase all manner of electrical/electronics systems and gadgets (imported) and all will be for relaxation. Then, the systems and the gadgets will further take their own share of our income because they will consume power. In the end, more expenditure while income does not increase! Now, I am saying that we as a people should start thinking of how to use electricity to increase our productivity so we can increase our income! If you think the post is senseless, I respect your opinion! 2 Likes |
Politics / The "Dangers" Of 247 Power Supply! by arm4u: 10:58am On Aug 30, 2013 |
Hi all, Let me start by dwelling first on the non important! for the sake of all those who comment on threads without reading and digesting the content in the context, and for all those who do have problems with simple comprehensions, this title is simply sarcastic. Now, according to Urban Dictionary, sarcasm is "A tongue of which the user speaks of something the complete opposite of what the user means. It often has the best comedic value." Now, on the issue on ground! Imagine this scenario, Mr . Obi is an average working class Nigerian, who for the past three years had witnessed little of no power supply in his neighborhood. He is among those very angry with the government for not providing electricity. Then one fateful day, he comes back from work only to meet "light". He sits down and watched AIT (he does not like NTA), after eating, he goes to bed. He wakes up only to discover that there is still power supply. He wonders what is "amiss"! He goes to work as usual, comes back and meets "light". haba! He monitors it for one whole week, and confirms that the light is now constant, not just light but 247. Then he waits for the end of the month, he receives his salary, 1. he buys an electrical kettle (imported) and pays outrightly 2. He makes a part payment for an electric cooker (imported) and asks for "book me down". 3. he renews cable TV service or buys a new decoder on "promo" (also imported). 4. He calls a technician to service his ac or if he does not have, will check the price of a new one (imported) 5. etc. having fixed all things he desires, he now commends government for living up to expectations. On the other hand, he is now spending more than before! Apart from the things he is buying, his utility bills will also increase! His expenditure has increased but his income has not. this is where the "danger" lies. Mr. Obi is an individual but it also applies to a nation. 247 Power Supply will lunch a producing and exporting country to the greatest of heights. Unfortunately, Nigeria is an importing and a consuming economy! 247 Power Supply will ensure that we import more and consume more! It will make ensure that we spend more! Now, have I said that 247 power supply is a bad thing? No and no and please no! I am only saying that we should start thinking of what to do with it. We should start thinking in terms of producing and exporting! We should start thinking of industrialization! That is the only way that 247 PS will be worth it. Am I saying that leisure is not good? No and no and please no! It is very true that "all work and no play will jack a dull boy" but I am equally saying that "all play and no work, will make jack a poor boy". I hope I have communicated! or do have I still expect the e-stones to be hurled at me? In that case, let me throw the first one at myself: "At OP, you are very stupid, you must be mad, in fact you reason from your poo exit door! How can you say that 247 Power Supply, has danger? na wa ooo!" To which I will simply reply, "I am very sorry for upsetting you, but please I did not say so and never will i say so"! Cheers to all! 2 Likes |

donroxy: Again Op, You can continue with your delusion of "academic jargons"! There is not enough food in Nigeria. The population is growing but the population of those producing food is reducing. It did not cost me a dime to transfer the plantain tree to my small farm! And it was fun doing it. And do you know what? I have not even thought of going commercial, but your "jargons" are challenging me to do more! I will be glad when my children will come back from school and tell me how they went for an excursion at a plantain plantation that covers some acres of land and such like places. Then and only then will I accept that the food production sector has come alive. Mean while you continue in your jargons, I am gladly offering you a head of plantain from my little farm. |

donroxy: Dude, ahahahahaha One of the reasons some of us stay away from public debates at times is that the average Nigerian/African find it very hard to discuss intellectually with critical reasoning without resorting insults and throwing of tantrums! From your point of view, "And my conclusion is U are a lazy Nigerian who just sit within the comfort of his home and throw trash !!!", well, I think you are exercising your freedom of speech, yet let me advice that in public forums such as this, decency and respect should be the watch word. You dont know me and i dont know you. Don't be too hasty to draw conclusions! It was the same mistake you made when you took the original post at the face value and could not see the sarcasm! once more, you either out of haste to "put me right" or delibrately tried to derail the thread by your assertions like "U know, before U open this kinda thread about Nigerian curricullum of education whether it provides volume for solving our societal proble or not ........ U really need critical research in not lesser than 20-50 Schools of all levels (primary, sec and uni) before U can conclude and come up with this thread !!!" Bros, I don't know where you got this your idea from, because this thread has nothing to do with the curriculum of education! The thread is as simple as ABC: why is it that the things we have leant in school cannot not be applied to solve our problems. Why are the majority of the educated folding their hands and waiting for manner to fall from heaven? And I am saying it with fear or favour that the bulk of the burden our economy is from the educated. The illiterates are taken initiatives, me thinks the educated should take more and not to sit down waiting for the "smiling face of opportunity" to beacon on them and shower financial blessings simply because they are "educated". Here your own words: The wise men all saying is that ''In the midst of problem, there is existing solution(opportunity) but na only people who get IQ go see the opportunity ! So in the midst of hunger (problem), there is existing solution (opportunity). Please, what is the different from what I have said? That when I see hunger (problem), I look deeper and see the embedded opportunity!. You see my dear, you are the one actually mixing things up because you are more interested in your definitions and the correctness of your syntax that you are just moving round and round without saying anything different. I have told you that if there is any problem here, it has to do with mere semantics and honestly speaking, I am not interested in it. It want solutions! Emm, please, he job of the Electrical/Engineer is mostly to design and produce electrical systems and devices. The problem you discussed above is more of a technicians job. Unfortunately, almost all our electrical systems and devices are imported, so our engineers have nothing to do, than to learn repairs! |
Politics / Re: The Fraud Called Education: Why Are Africans So Dumb? by arm4u: 9:20am On Aug 30, 2013 |
donroxy: U re absolutely wrong in your assertions above So is the Title of your thread, cuz u all muddled everything Up !!! yes, am not expecting less since u pure scientist are always like this when it come to adjudging social issues ....Engineering Maths,Physics and Chemistry not hold ground here But Political Science,Economics,BusAdmin and Philosophy !!! I think you actually have a problem with simple comprehension! Go back through this thread and you will see, that the I have stated clearly more than once, that the title "the fraud called Education" is sarcasm! You can look up the meaning. Some one accused me of building a conspiracy theory against the white was if they "robbed" us by introducing education and I replied clearly that rather than build a conspiracy theory, I am exposing a "stupidity" theory against the black man who thinks that education is an end in itself instead of seeing education as a means to an end. It is ironical that the illiterates are being creative, working hard in their little abilities to fend for themselves, while the educated are lazying about waiting for "opportunity" to baptise them with fortune! If all you can deduce from the above stated is that ARM is against education, then I have no apologies! After all, I went back to see in this same thread where you apologized for misunderstanding the sarcastic approach to the topic. Why are you still confused about it? In your own words: "ARM should be about sensitizing Nigerian/Africans on the need to tapped into Opportunities provided by Education not otherwise ...." ARM is not doing anything "otherwise", we are geared towards sensitizing Africans that "knowledge is not enough!". That education is not an "end" but rather a "means". We have challenges, and the purpose of education is to equip us with what it takes to face those challenges. Our mission "To cause a Mental Revolution that will lead to Industrial Revolution in Africa" says it all. Now, if you will keep going out of point, I might as well stop responding! Cheers! |
