The nurse has worked in the NHS for 15 years but she was still referred to as "Nigerian born" in the article lol

The consequences of her actions could have been avoided as the judge remarked
" When you are entitled to something, you are entitled to it, but when you're not, you're not."

It's the Daily Mail, and it's literally their job to whip up racial hatred. Unfortunately for this Nurse, she will most likely be kicked off the NMC register.

Goat meat with the skin on, not the UK version. I heard there is a place in Peckham where they sell skin on goat meat, but I have never had the time to investigate.

Hell no!! the moment you get into care your brain is fried, no future, no ambition, you have no access to outside world, you will not even have time to do anything again..smh

This is deep sarcasm at play here. grin

On second thoughts, I don't know why people demonise care work. We all (set of 2009 UK entry) all did care and security jobs at some point prior to ultimately getting into chosen careers. Back in the day, no one gave visas for care work unlike now.

Not excusing molestation in any form but India is literally the rape capital of the world but you don't see them making noise about it in the UK

With what I've seen on Twitter in the last few days, you'll think every Nigerian guy in the UK is a rapist

angry

It isn't. If you had googled it, it will show you it isn't. Top 3 countries are in Africa.

They're making it easier for you to lie.

They don't care, as long as they're collecting their premiums.

It's the day an accident occurs that they'll ask for the documentation and evidence of everything you've said. I hope you know there are people in those companies (claims adjusters) whose roles (and partly their compensation) is tied to denying and reducing the value of as many claims as possible.

Even innocent mistakes like forgetting to update the policy when you change address or job etc can affect coverage. How much more outright lies?

As has been said above, those people doing that should just drive very carefully as if they don't have insurance, because they really don't.

100% correct. In December 2020, my car aquaplaned on black ice and I crashed it at a roundabout. My car insurance took a look at my claim and decided to void my insurance because I didn't declare to them that the car had after-market 23'' alloy wheels. I paid for the repairs from my own pocket and took the car insurance company to the Ombudsman. A year later, the Ombudsman decided in my favour and told them to 'unvoid' the car insurance, and refund me every penny because there was no way a normal car user will know that 23'' wheels isn't factory fitted by the car manufacturers themselves.

Since then, I have had to declare the alloy wheels every time i renew my car insurance. See pictures of the car just after the crash on the snowy rainy morning.

Don't say what you don't know. I graduated from that school after 5 years of study. It's a custom that the hitmen in particular of any cult are usually targeted in their final year whenever are preparing for their exit such as writing their final papers bcs after that, they might not see him ever again to make him pay blood for blood for others blood he shed. It's usually a normal thing for final year students in cults writing their final exams

I lived in inner Ekosodin for most of my time in UNIBEN. If you focus on your studies, mind your business, don't join cult groups AND occasionally buy drinks for the guys who own the night, you will be left alone with no problems. They fight and kill themselves. In Ekosodin, we heard gun shots almost every night from cult groups servicing their weapons.

I agree with you. I won't agree I'm lying though, we just see this issue from different perspectives.

You were right. A lot of studies have shown that cultural isolation exists in western societies. The culture of the west is very different from that of African societies were people mingle easily. In most western societies, people keep to themselves. There was a recent story of a lady in London who died living alone in a flat, and it took a couple of years before her next door neighbour knew she was dead after she noticed maggots.

Hello Elders, I plan driving to London from the North East for the passport renewal of my wife and 3 kids.

We intend going a day before the appointment and then lodge at an hotel or airbnb. To avoid all the ulez, red zones, blue zones issues around central London(I drive a 2013 CitroΓ«n c4 hatchback), I'm thinking we should look for where to lodge in the outskirts of London. We can then get a bus or train early morning on the day of the appointment to the high commission. We also want the kids to visit one or two fun places in London before we return to our North. πŸ˜€

Elders, that have done this in the past, what's my best bet and which areas of London can we get an affordable accommodation for one night. Thanks as always.

I have just returned from a trip to London from the NE. You have made a good decision to lodge on the outskirts and use public transport to get into London. The 20mph speed limit in Central London almost made me loose my sanity. If it was designed to lessen the traffic in Central London, it certainly isn't working as the traffic is terrible even at 20mph. As for accommodation, try to book a decent aparthotel or Airbnb. The Central London hotel the company booked me in for a night was an absolute shit-hole.

There are Nigerians in the British Army. I was one of them and I have since left many years ago. It's a good life if you are young, single and willing to travel the world; not so much if you are looking to have a family and/or professional career.

Hello, please I need advice. I met my boyfriend(African-British) a few months ago and we plan to get married later this year. Unfortunately, I found out we are both of AS genotype. I'm optimistic about not having kids with sickle cell but since it can't be ruled out, I want to ask if the UK government provides adequate and free health programs for such or if the sickle cell treatment issue is the same here as it is in Nigeria

Pieces of Advice will be appreciated. Thanks

When you get pregnant, your midwife will refer you to the hospital within the first 3 months for the fetus to get tested to see if it's AS or SS. If the results show the fetus is SS, you will be provided with the results and an option to abort or carry the fetus to term. This test is performed for couples that are both AS, and it's all free.

He said my rent mantra (RENT MONEY IS DEAD MONEY)...... Did not mean so much to him...... Until.....

His rent is currently is Β£1350.00 pcm (3 bedroom house) ....... He came across his Landlord's letter, from mortgage provider.......

The mortgage on the property is Β£355.47 pcm ......

After the cost of building insurance, LL is relaxing on almost Β£1000 pcm (What a return on investment)......

If you want your LL to keep doing dorime with your money.......... Keep renting, don't buy .......

RENT MONEY IS DEAD MONEY.........

I suspect that mortgage is low because it's an interest only mortgage which most Landlords prefer.

First and foremost......

Write a list of all the bills + mortgage/rent......

You can decide to go on wage percentage terms or simply pick and choose........

One person no dey pay bills for the UK, person go just die (whilst the other person is just buying bags and sending unallocated fund's to families abroad)......πŸ˜‚πŸ€ͺ🀣

There are many families up and down this country with a sole income. A sole parent works to pay the bills whilst the other parent takes care of the kids at home. What works for family A might not work for family B, there is no one size fits all. The problem, I find, with 2 parents working to split bills is that a large chunk of it is spent on childcare which defeats the whole purpose of both parents working in itself.

That is high even without water meter, my water bill is less than Β£25 a month for a 3beds property, the problem with water companies is lack of competition in that sector else water bill will be a lot cheaper. Keep writing and calling them until they bring it down

The property size is one minor factor, but the family size is the main factor. I pay Β£50 a month for water for a family of 4. It used to be Β£42 until they recently increased it because, apparently, my water meter is indicating high usage. I think the figure is correct, we use a lot of water in the house. It might be only Grant Shapps that can spend only 4 mins in the shower after a hard days job, most people who do long hours will spend longer.

Hello friends,

I am looking for an immigrant in UK who is ready to take a job as a full time nanny for my two kids. Accomodation, feeding, utilites, internet, phone bills will be all taken care of. Monthly pay is 400-500Β£ depending on a few other details.
The lady/woman should be less than 50 yrs and already residing in the UK.
Location is Basildon in Essex.

If interested, send me a message to naijanannysearch@gmail.com

This post has made me do some research on au pair, and I'm guessing they are who you intend to recruit. There have been a lot of posts on here lambasting you for offering below minimum wage, slave labour etc.

This is the official government website on au pair. You are actually offering more than what the official weekly wage is for au pair. Social media can be an absolute cesspit sometimes.

Hello all.

My kid sis is looking at an offer of 29K for a job in Leeds. It'll be her first time leaving the country. Please, is that livable income in that area of the country?

I know even God cannot change her mind about leaving Naija but I just need to know if she's going to continue to need occasional financial help...

She was on 120K in Naija.

She can use it as a starting point to come to the UK. However, 37.5 X 52 = 1950. 29,000/1950 = Β£14.9/hour. Leeds is an expensive city to live in, it's the Manchester of the NE. When you factor in rent, council tax and energy bills, that's at least a third of the salary gone.

The cost of a bedsit in Leeds would get a 1/2 bed flat in Wakefield, Bradford etc or any of the cities close by, and commute to Leeds to save cost.

Lol with the way the UK educational system is set up, people will fail woefully. With 20 hours people are still failing. That said, 40 hours go soft sha. They should also stop being wicked and make our student visa count to 5 years ILR sad

Agreed. In my past experience in the NE, my main 20 hour a week job as a student 10 years ago was a night job in a bread factory. A job that involved standing all night, except on breaks, packing bread. When you get to the postgraduate student hostel the next day, you will feel like you have been run over by a truck. You have to get some sleep, have breakfast and get ready for classes/presentations/assignments etc. It was a struggle even on 20 hours/week work and it will be an even bigger struggle on 40 hours/week. If you pay a lot of money from Nigeria for a postgraduate degree in the UK, the least you can aim for is a distinction grade at the end.

If you're working and earning a regular income, a TV licence is not a big deal, why give yourself unnecessary stress about what to watch when you can just pay for the damn thing and watch what you want on any device any day or time. It doesn't worth all the long conversations here. You can either pay Β£159 at once or you pay monthly. Additionally, you can use the license for other things like proof of address. And if you don't earn a regular income or you're not buoyant enough to pay for the license, why have a TV in the first place?

Finally, in these days of online entertainment and sports, there's no way you will not watch an online live event for which a TV licence is also needed. Get a TV licence and enjoy yourself to the fullest, simple.

Spot on.

I pay mine on direct debit, and I stream everything via IPTV or apps and have been doing so for years. I was one of those who many years ago posted remarks on this site strongly advocating for non-payment of TV licence fees. However, when you do have a family, things change. It's not practical to make your wife and kids live in perpetual fear of opening the front door simply because of a few pittance of beer/whisky money per year. If this money isn't spent on paying the TV licence, it would definitely be spent carelessly elsewhere on necessary/unnecessary evils that keep a grown family man sane in this country.
