Politics / Fubara: There’s Nothing Wrong With Father And Son Having Problems by ExAngel007(f): 4:32pm On Nov 01, 2023
Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, says the political
crisis in the state will be resolved.

The governor spoke on Wednesday when Christopher Musa, chief of defence staff, led a military delegation to visit him at the government house in Port Harcourt.

Alluding to Nyesom Wike, his predecessor who is the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), Fubara said there is “nothing wrong if a father and a son have a problem”.

“For our dear state, I know everybody is wondering what’s going on, what’s not going on. We are okay, there is no problem,” Fubara said.

“If we have an internal issue, it will be resolved and everything will go back to normal.

“There is nothing wrong if a father and a son have a problem. If there is any problem — but I don’t think there is anything. Whatever it is, we will definitely resolve the issue.”

On Monday, political tension heightened in Rivers state when some lawmakers in the house of assembly moved to
impeach Fubara.

Ehie Edison, Fubara’s ally, was removed as the leader of the state assembly but hours later, he was elected as the new speaker .

The crisis in the state is linked to a rumoured rift between Fubara and Wike.

On Tuesday, Wike and Fubara met at the presidential villa

— the first sit-down between the duo since the crisis.

While addressing a delegation of south-south leaders in Abuja, Wike who spoke about the crisis for the first time, said the political turmoil in the state is a party affair.

Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi and chairman of the PDP governors forum, had said President Bola Tinubu has intervened in the crisis, expressing optimism that peace will be restored in the state.

The PDP had also called on all actors in the state to “sheathe their swords and allow for a peaceful and amicable resolution of all the issues”.

Romance / The Most Promiscuous Nation In The World; See Nigeria's Ranking (full List) by ExAngel007(f): 7:17am On Oct 21, 2023
A new study publication has ranked Australia as the most promiscuous nation in the world, the USA as the 15th most promiscuous nation and even Nigeria made the list.

NapLab compiled data from various sources to come up with their list, looking at national sexually transmitted infection rates, a country’s attitudes toward premarital sex
and the average number of sex partners, among other criteria.

The list says the average US citizen has slept with more than 10 people, according to the raunchy research, with the average resident sleeping with 10.7 people over the course
of their lifetime.

The US is on equal terms with Canada, which gets an average of 10.7 bedroom partners.

Also, 65% of US citizens thought it was okay to have sex before getting married, a small percentage when compared to most other Western countries.

The average Australian loses their virginity at a younger age than the average American (17.8 years versus 18 years).

Despite their citizens seeming to sleep around more on average, Australia had lower rates of sexually transmitted
diseases, also known as STDs, than the US.

Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation is ranked 40th on the list.

Shortly after he made a public outcry, Reno said Mr Ibu endorsed Peter Obi’s candidacy during the 2023 elections and so Obi should support the ailing actor.

This morning via his IG page, he shared a video of Peter Obi
saying he is richer than US President and asked Obi to help Mr Ibu. He went on to add that Mr Ibu and Patience Ozokwor endorsed a fundraising for Obi before the elections and some of the money should be donated to support Ibu.

Phones / “it Is Illegal To Make Public A Screenshot Of A Private Chats”- Lawyer by ExAngel007(f): 2:17pm On Oct 13, 2023
A Nigerian lawyer has touched on the illegality of sharing screenshots of private chats without the consent of the other party.

In a video shared online, the lawyer stated that section 37 of the Nigerian constitution frowns at people sharing
screenshots of their conversations with other persons
without consent.

According to him, this is an act of violation against a person's privacy.

’Do you know that unless somebody grants you his consent, you don't have the right to screenshot your chats with any other person on your DM and post it on your timeline or Whatsapp status. In Nigeria, specifically in section 37 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, that is a violation of the person's right to privacy.

The one that is baffling is to see people screenshotting their last chat with a dead person and posting it on their timeline or Whatsapp status.

It is a violation of the law because if that person were to be alive, he may not be comfortable with you putting out his or her chat on a public platform.''

Chapter 4 Section 37 of the Nigerian constitution reads;

‘’National Protection The right to privacy is one ofnthe fundamental human rights entrenched in thenNigerian Constitution. Section 37 of the 1999nConstitution provides that: “The privacy of citizens, ntheir homes, correspondence, telephonenconversations and telegraphic communications is hereby guaranteed and protected.”

Crime / Mother Captured Teaching Her Daughter How To Steal In Church (video) by ExAngel007(f): 4:12pm On Oct 05, 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_dtMN948So

Shocking video has captured a mother teaching her daughter to steal from a woman's handbag during Mass in a church in Honduras.

Surveillance footage shows the child reaching over the pew in front and taking what appears to be a cellphone at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic church in the capital city of Tegucigalpa on Sunday, Oct. 1.

The footage begins with the mother and the girl sitting on a bench directly behind their intended target.

When it was time to stand, as the entire church stood, the daughter moved close to her mother who then gestures for her to reach into the bag of the woman in the pew in front of them.

The girl held on to her mother and then leaned her hands on the bench while the woman and other churchgoers listened to the priest's lecture.

At one point she took advantage that the woman was holding her hands together in a praying position and reached over the bench and pulled an item out of the bag.

The child then slipped it to her mother before they both hurried out of the church while their unsuspecting victim remained standing and observing the priest.

The video has sparked outrage, with many condemning it.

Honduran newspaper Tiempo reported that authorities have opened an investigation, but not arrests had been made as of Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Crime / Leah Sharibu Divorces Her First Husband, Marries Another Terrorist Commander by ExAngel007(f): 10:09am On Sep 27, 2023
Leah Sharibu, the girl held in captivity by members of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has “remarried” another terrorists’ commander, after purportedly securing a divorce from the first ‘husband’ she was forcefully given to, local security sources told the Daily Trust yesterday.

Leah was abducted alongside her over 100 schoolmates from Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State on February 19, 2018.

Few years ago, it was reported by some media houses that the Dapchi girl was married off.

Our correspondent gathered that Leah, after the purported divorce from one Abdulrahman, was remarried to another ISWAP commander in the Lake Chad area named Ali Abdallah.

One of the security sources said, “Leah was first married to Abdulrahman after she allegedly converted to Islam and they have two children, all boys that were named after two Boko Haram commanders that were killed.

“We don’t know what transpired but Leah secured the divorce and married another commander, Ali Abdallah.”

The source said after her abduction, Leah was “trained” on how to administer some medical services to injured Boko Haram fighters and women.

Our correspondent reports that one of the antics of terrorists in the North East is forcing their captives with expertise in some areas like medicine, nursing, engineering, computer, among others to train their members on such areas.

“She was ‘trained’ as a medical personnel and now leads the ISWAP medical team in the northern part of the Lake Chad area,” the source said.

Another source said, “Ten days ago, Leah, her supposed husband and other fighters were sighted at Dogon Chukwun kangarwa.

“Her husband is a commander under ISWAP but they are facing persecution from a Boko Haram commander loyal to Shekau, Malam Bakura.

“As of today, we got a report that a large contingent of the ISWAP fighters has started migrating from the area through Guzamala forest.

“They were sighted on the route of Cross – Mosquito camp- Garin-giwa (where the Zulum’s convoy was attacked) – Munguno – Gajiram with cache of dangerous arms,” he said.

Foreign Affairs / India’s Parliament Considers Renaming Country ‘Bharat’ by ExAngel007(f): 3:00pm On Sep 05, 2023
India’s parliament is considering renaming the country during the upcoming special session scheduled for September 18-22, India Times , a local media outfit, reports.

There have been growing clamour to rename the country as Bharat — an acronym for “Bring Harmony, Amity, Reconciliation And Trust”.

The country’s government officials have also begun to
gradually apply the changes.

Official G20 dinner invitations from Droupadi Murmu, Indian president, were sent under the name of ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the usual ‘President of India’.

Members of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have also come out in support of renaming the country “Bharat”.

On Tuesday, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam chief minister,
said renaming the country would prove that India is marching towards civilisation.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood actor, also referred to India as Bharat.

Some in the country argue that the name ‘India’ is a symbol of “colonial slavery” and “should be removed from the constitution”.

“The British changed Bharat’s name to India. Under Article 1, the Constitution states: ‘India, that is Bharat’. Our country has been known by the name ‘Bharat’ for thousands of years… it is this country’s ancient name and is found in ancient Sanskrit text,” the Rajya Sabha, the country’s upper house of parliament, said.

Travel / UK Announces Electronic Travel Authorisation As A Travel Requirement Into UK by ExAngel007(f): 7:15pm On Sep 04, 2023
The United Kingdom (UK) has updated its travel requirements for people wishing to enter the country.

UK on Monday, September 4 announced that Nigerians and other citizens, except British and Irish nationals, wishing to enter the country must apply for Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). The new rule becomes effective from November 15, 2023, and applies to everyone, including children.

The new travel rule means that all visa applicants wishing to travel to the UK need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) card before they enter or transit through the country,

The UK home office said persons who need the travel permit are those who were previously eligible to visit the UK without a visa and not already legally resident in the UK.

Also listed for ETA are those on visits shorter than six months, business people, tourism, and those visiting family and friends. Applicants are required to apply online before booking any travel to the UK. Once granted, it will be valid for multiple journeys over two years or until the passport one is applying with expires.

According to the UK Home Office, travellers with valid visas may not be allowed to board without a valid ETA, as the ETA is digitally linked to travellers’ passports.

A statement from the UK office reads: “The UK travel requirements are changing. Except for British and Irish citizens, everyone, including children who enter or transit through the UK, will soon require permission before they travel.

"This means that if you were previously eligible to visit the UK without a visa and not already legally resident in the UK, you will need an electronic travel authorisation (ETA), your stay must be shorter than six months and could include tourism or visiting family and friends, transit, business, and short term study.

“You do not need to show a paper copy, but it may be helpful to prove the confirmation email for your own records while an ETA grants you permission to travel to the UK, it does not grant you entry. So, you would still need to go through passport control at the border to enter the UK.

“Make sure you show the same passport you used to apply for your ETA and that your passport is valid for the whole of your stay."

Business / FULL LIST: Five Longest-serving African Presidents by ExAngel007(f): 9:55am On Aug 31, 2023
It is no secret that the continent of Africa is home to many of the world’s longest-ruling Heads of State.

They have held onto power for many years and show no signs of stepping down anytime soon.

This practice of holding on to power for longer terms which runs through several years perhaps 20, 30 or even 40 has sparked concerns.

The record-breaker is Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, who ruled for 44 years before being overthrown in 1974.

Libyan strongman Moamer Kadhafi held sway for almost 42 years. He was killed in 2011 as protests against his rule mushroomed into armed conflict.

Gabon’s Omar Bongo Ondimba had been at the helm for 41 years when he died in June 2009.

Angolan leader Jose Eduardo dos Santos stepped down in September 2017 after 38 years in charge. Never democratically elected, the former Marxist rebel died in July 2022 at 79.

Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, who died in September 2019 almost two years after being forced to step down, held office for more than 37 years.

In Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, who came to power in a coup in June 1989, remained in charge for 30 years until the military overthrew him in 2019.
