mikeSPIRIT:
hello fellaz... i am a graduate of elect/elect engr and want to do HSE certification. pls is it beter to do General HSE or to do HSE 1,2,3. also, Novelle and ISPON centers seem to be the hottest cakes. which is the better of these two. I want to avoid getting a cert only to find out that it is not highly recognized.
thanks in advance for your help

Hi MikeSPIRIT,

Like I commented in an earlier post, there are lots of misleading posts and people should be careful how they make comments so we do not confuse people. For the records I did my training with Novelle in June,2014 and today I work with OGFZA (Oil and Gas free zone Onne) and I'll recommend them everywhere.

Here are few things you should know:

1. Novelle is a training company approved by centres like NEBOSH, BISO, ISPON, BPMA, PECB, IRCA, GTACS to offer professional training skills in Health and safety. Approvals like the above imply that such centres are big. We are talking about approvals that take as much as N3million and above to get.

2. When I did my training in Novelle, we were trained with UK and Nigeria curriculum which gives you an edge over others, because most companies in Nigeria operate with British Standards (otherwise known as BS Codes) and they respect and employ you when they know you have something bigger than the average safety practitioner in Nigeria. I dont wish to blow my whistle, but the training I got was one of the reason I easily bagged my appointment with OGFZA Onne.

3. ISPON even recognises Novelle as a training company. Any company recognised and approved by ISPON to training is big. Lets leave too much talk, simple!

4. It was during my training at Novelle Centre that I learnt that safety has six levels (Level 1, level 2, level 3, level 5, level 6, and level 8. . Level 1 gives you background knowledge in safety, level 2 is a practical level, you will be required by Novelle to do a site visit to pass this level, level 3 deals on first aid, fire safety and environmental management, level 5 is NEBOSH preliminary, level 6 is Nebosh IGC which is equivalent to OND according to scottish Vocational qualification and finally Level 8 is Nebosh diploma which is equivalent to BSc.

With a Nebosh diploma you can go on straight to do your masters in any UK university. Check for yourself: https://www.nebosh.org.uk/students/currently_studying/default.asp?cref=813&ct=2

All Novelle HSE courses and certificates are straight from United Kingdom and their HSE level 1-3 makes you eligible for Nebosh instantly. Finally, I have 2 friends working with Lagos state ministry of Environment with the UK HSE certificate from novelle, so my brother shine your eyes and leave sentiments. For me, I'd prefer to run a course that is recognised inside and outside Nigeria.

Also, I learnt that Novelle now pays for international student membership with the UK HSE body to students who complete their course and write the exam for FREE.

Finally, I'll advise you to run your HSE with a centre that will give you examination after training like Novelle, not a place that just dash certificates to everyone who attend the 4 or 5days course without exams. kiss kiss kiss

O and sorry did I fail to mention that this company called Novelle won the British International Safety awards 2015. Won the Best HSE training institute in Nigeria 2015 (this award was powered by ISPON Lagos branch and Lagos State Government), won the Total quality awards from BIS Geneva, and just recently won the Queens Achievement Award for health and safety company 2016. I got all these info from their website and facebook page www.facebook.com/NovelleCenter. My guy twale for people weh sabi. abi no be so?

I'll always do FREE Publicity for Novelle my people because they blessed my life. No worry

It is very important for us to understand how HSE trainings and certifications runs before giving advise, this is because, a forum like this has the potency of spreading information (be it right or wrong) faster than mere word-of-mouth communications and the effect of giving a half-baked truth like the one constantly being peddled can be very dangerous.

1. ISPON is a great body for the regulation of HSE training and consultancy services in Nigeria, but it is also important for people to also know that ISPON is not the only one - there is NISCN (the mother of ISPON i.e. National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria). This body has existed since the creation of Nigeria and even ISPON gives credence to this council (The Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) is a technical arm of the National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN) - http://www.isponnigeria.org/index.php/about-us).

The reason I cited this is to quell the notion that ISPON is the grandeur. ISPON is just an arm of Health and Safety and fortunately the largest arm but not the supreme body for deciding Health and Safety practices in Nigeria.

2. What are the services of ISPON? ISPON upon its formation was primarily a membership body of Safety Professionals i.e. Institute of Safety professionals of Nigeria and while the body has been successful over the years, it began seeking other areas of influence. Part of those influence was to be incharge of registering individuals and organisations before they could practice HSE and then also formulate policies under the endorment of NISCN. This was the reason its bill (ISPON Act 2014 and the NACOSH 2003) were passed in the national assembly. The question thus is, is ISPON the only body for training qualitative HSE in Nigeria? The answer is a resounding NO!

3. Why? Because, the Act that brought ISPON into power did not stipulate a closure of other notable players. The legal framework recommended that the sector should be split into 4 parts (although some stakeholders in ISPON are not yet implementing this recommendation, why? the Nigeria factor) namely Content Developers (to structure HSE services in Nigeria), Training Providers (to deliver training services), Examining Bodies (to ascertain competence of trainees) and Membership Bodies (to register them as recognised members). While this recommendation is still be delayed, other training providers such as Hybrid, Novelle, SMTS, JPTS etc have already become approved by ISPON to deliver HSE courses and are getting accredited and licensed by foreign bodies to deliver foreign HSE courses in Nigeria. Foreign courses are by far superior. How? ask NEBOSH, ask CEIH, ask British Safety Council. they have a global appeal, lets tell ourselves the truth.

4. Is the practice wrong? another resounding NO. The first question a prospective candidate should ask before running a course like the one in Novelle is to know if Novelle is a member of ISPON. if the answer is yes, then it simply shows that ISPON has attested their services and approved them to offer HSE course. If the answer is No, then it shows they should not be listened. A careful check through the Novelle site shows they are approved by ISPON, approved by NEBOSH, NISCN, BISO to offer HSE (such a centre is big, leave jokes apart). And what this implies is that they can offer any HSE course in Nigeria, it must not only be the ISPON general HSE. in UK, there are well over 4000 training bodies offering HSE, and before they can practice these training services they must be either approved by NEBOSH, BSC, IIRSM, ROSPA, CIEH, RSPHA, SHEORG) this is the same with the case of ISPON and NISCN in Nigeria. They are not the only recommended or highly proficient body for HSE training, they are rather the regulators.

5. Besides, it is also imperative to know that safety has 6 levels (HSE level 1,2,3,5,6,8,) and this standards are merely practised by the big players in Nigeria. level 6 in UK is equivalent to OND, while level 8 is equivalent to BSC. With a HSE level 8 (NEBOSH diploma) you can forge ahead to doing a Msc degree with any UK university. But sadly, this facts are not expressed here. I carefully see people wishing to run safety courses, but not many are properly schooled with facts in this noble sector.

6. Folks should not glorify any centre above another, ISPON doesn't do that, neither does NISCN do that. Lets always advise students to check if the training company is a member of ISPON or NISCN. If they are, then students should be allowed to conveniently offer their courses. Safety training should not be only centred on ISPON. Giving an unbiased view will help the training, service and practice of HSE grow in Nigeria.

What's the difference with all this Nebosh centres. What should one do or look out for before registering with a Nebosh centre

Look out for a centre that is accredited by NEBOSH directly. I know that as of now only 11 training centres are directly accredited. I did mine in 2012 with one in Lagos called Novelle. Check them out on www.novellecenter.com they are accredited and they run their courses every month. They are good

Gombe having issues right nw bt results are ready to some extent. Guy, I need CHANGE but at least I have to respect result declaration process

See where the problem is? you are failing to read the title of the thread as well as understand the point the table is passing. Let me help you again, the topic says "in the national collation buhari is currently leading" meaning the bauchi and gombe are also still part of the states in the collation that is ongoing.

NEBOSH IGC Registration in Progress

Career / Re: Nebosh Registration by Gentleme1: 8:18pm On Jan 02, 2014
The Need for career development in 2018

You can’t be successful in your career by accident. Career success is the reward of your talent, hard work, luck, planning and most importantly LEARNING. Do you have a career plan? Have you documented your long and short-term goals, your area of interest, and areas for further improvement? For your own benefit, do you know your strengths and weaknesses?
We are not referring to the ones you fill in during your performance review every year, which you have scribbled few lines on what you would like to do over the next year. If your goal is to working on yourself, you should definitely have a career otherwise competition is likely to take your job. It’s a super competitive world and organisations hire purely on skills. So here are three reasons why you should have a plan for your career path in 2018 and work on it.

- A career development plan will help define your future career path: If we never cultivate the habits of accomplishing our career goals then we could miss on the opportunity to drive our careers towards the path of significance. Having a career development plan will not only give you the opportunity to review your skills that are in demand, but also identify additional skills that are required to perform and progress in your career.

- A career development plan will give you the confidence you need to succeed. With a career development plan in place, you have ownership over all aspect of your career. You no longer have to struggle to list out your achievements during performance reviews or preparing for your assessment and promotion meetings.

- A career development plan will help you take charge of your own career advancement. Think about the number of times have you blamed external forces for everything that you didn’t want to happen in your work. Your career development plan will help you take responsibility for all your actions. It gives you the power in your hands to steer your career in the right direction

Start the year with these courses and give yourself the desired platform to achieve your careers goals going forward;

1. UK NEBOSH International General Certificate: one profound benefit you can enjoy is to get better job opportunities with the help of Nebosh certification that can help you enhance your skills and knowledge about health and safety. NEBOSH General Certificate is basically known to be the most reputable qualifications all the businesses are looking for while hiring right employees.

2. UK HSE Level 1,2,3 Professional Certification and personal upgrade is to a worker what a gold medal is to an athlete. Ever thought about how some people stay relevant and on high demand at a time when getting a job or keeping one is far fetched?
The answer is not difficult.
For decades, highly successful individuals have understood that the step to significance lies in the continuous upgrading of one’s intellectual capacity. Professional training has been proven over the years to be the most effective tool for career success and personal development. Talk about experience and exposure you talk about qualitative professional training. Visit: http://www.novellecenter.com/course/uk-hse-course/ to read more information.

3. UK ISO QMS 9001 and OHSAS 18001 Certification course for Lead Auditors. Lead auditor course becomes useful for an employee who works in an organization where he needs to do internal auditing. The employee can fulfil his role after successfully completing the course from a reputed institution.

In federalism the constitution gives the State the power to make her own state conference. Since Adams thinks it is pertinent to declare a dialogue on youth unemployment let himw state it with his state and maybe when we see how successful it turns out we could implement the same at the federal level.

Talk is cheap and politicians are good at trading it.

Davido has improved over time with sold out concerts at O2 arena UK a feat so rarely achieved by artists around the world; recently nominated for the NMVA 2013; churning out major hits and quality videos like gobe.

Am a fan of wizkid but me thinks 2013 was not jist a good year for him: first he's no more with his certified d.ope team #EME; he hasn't given any good hit this year except the "20 man shall fall that day" grammar-starved-hit track and d abuses he churns on his fans on twitter. To be honest wizzie needs a strong management. Jaiye jaiye and Caro are just songs that sounds like a new artists trying to make a statement.

Wizzie please learn to celebrate ur mates' success. Beside I think wizzie did that to give a boost to his epileptic track - jaiye jaiye or maybe d dude is just jealous of his mates' success

Symphony007: wike will draw up which list? When did he become lord of the realm, you see how idiotic you are. According to the rivers state PDP constitution, the delegates will be draw from the LGA's to vote for the governorship flagbearer or to represent rivers state in abuja. So how can he control delegates from LGA chairmen who does'nt recognise him? A man whoes LGA CHAIRMAN does't even support. So wike has the following options, remove all the LGA chairmen and put the once will support him so as to vote his way.(impossible), try to change party rules pick delegates himself(impossible, major court battle), hope you're learning a thing or two.

No way! Nyesom Wike is presently the State leader while Felix is the State Chairman...Amaechi does not sway anymore...besides he's currently on suspension in PDP and only the party leader (Wike) assigns delegates

Yes I am enjoying my marriage.

Last night under the sheet I told her "myJoy thank God I married you". She's 2 times a woman...my best friend...my wife...my sister...my teacher...my help-meet...

She is humble
She is beautiful
She is simple
She is submissive
She is lovely
She is very neat
She is decent
She is respectful
She is confident
She is emotional
She is strong
She is feminine
She is a bunch of clean accent
She is godly
She is prayerful
She is loved by my parents
She is loved by my sibblings
She is a wife

Someone told me, Mr Tony your wife looks so young like an 18 year old...and I laughed and said add 7 years to that age and you'll get her real age and yet she looks that way. I prayed for God to give me one.

MyJoy I love you and you made marriage so sweet...I wish all marriages were like mine. Our first child will be coming out next week.

Let's face it, just who exactly are these so called elders? The one's who subtly created this trouble in the first place and just realized they'l be the BIGGEST LOSERS if this crisis becomes untamed

1st possibilty: GEJ will lose the ticket and go back to the creeks a simple and clean man. The SS -mili boiz will take up to arms and unleash an unprecedented mayhem. They did it before they can do it again

2nd possibility: GEJ knowing he was hurt for no just reason, could concede the seat to the "tribalistic party' and see to it that the OBJ, IBB,Atiku all lose too

3rd possibility: APC will so indict these shameless old thieves to the extent they"d wish they never allowed their anus to think for them

So the next time some anti-GEJ come here running their dirty mouths, we'l like to have them know that the gentility from our simple and humble president should not be mistaken for cowardice.
