TV/Movies / Re: 80% Of Nollywood Films Are Wack by lazrin(m): 5:02pm On Dec 19, 2007
I STRONGLY DISAGRRE WITH THE CONTENTION THAT 80 % OF NAIJA FILMS ARE WACK. I THINK IT'S MUCH CLOSER TO 99%. IN FACT THE ONLY NAIJA FILMS WEY I SEE WEY MAKE SENSE NA THINGS FALL APART AND TWINS OF THE RAIN FOREST ( AND I'M SURU U GYS AND BABES AGREE).

THE PROBLEM WITH US NAIJA WRITERS AND FILMMAKERS BE SAY WE DEY ALWAYS TRY COPY WETIN WE DEY SEE FOR YONDER. AMERICAN FILMS DEEPLY REFLECT THE AMERICAN CULTURE. INDIAN FILMS DO THE SAME. BRINGING IN A FOREIGN CULTURE AND TRYING TO RECREATE IT WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF NIGERIA WILL MAKE THE FILM LOOK STILTED, CONTRIVED, AND BASICALLY ANNOYING.

CHECK OUT THINGS FALL APART FOR EXAMPLE. THE FILM WAS SET IN A VERY BASIC AFRICAN SETTING, WITHOUT THE NORMAL AFFLUENCE AND WEALTH NOW COMMON IN HOME VIDEOS. HOW DO U THINK THE FILM WD HAVE PLAYED OUT IF AMERICANS HAD TRIED TO RECREATE IT WITHOUT A BASIC UNDER STANDING OF THE AFRICAN CULTURE??

I THINK WE NEED TO LOOK INWARD AND BE PROUD OF OUR HERITAGE, EACH AFRICAN OR NIGERIAN VILLAGE HAS ITS OWN STORY, CUSTOMS AND TRADITION THAT WE CAN MINE FOR IDEAS TO EXPLOIT, RATHER THAN SPENDING MILLIONS TRYING TO RECREATE ACTION SCENES OR REACTING FETISH BEHAVIOURS THAT DO NOT QUITE CAPTURE OUR CULTURAL ESSENCE, WE CAN SPEND MUCH LESS CREATING STORIES AND IDEAS THAT PROMOTE OUR HERITAGE. LETS TAKE THIGS FALL APART AS A PRECEDENT.

TV/Movies / Re: Mob(mafia) Movies. by lazrin(m): 4:02pm On Dec 19, 2007
i agree wit u bgees, mafia films never seem to run out of stories, and thy're not very common so u tend to cherish them when u see em. i think goodfellas was the best of em(the idea of narrating the storyline alongside the film was really thrilling). carlito's way too. betrayal. donnie braasco was good too.

will try and see boss of bosses. never evven heard of it
TV/Movies / Re: TV Shows: Prison Break, Lost Or 24? by lazrin(m): 3:54pm On Dec 19, 2007
scofield it is. prison break 4 me. those of u who vote any thing else cannot honestly boast of watching prisonbreak. lipsrsealed
TV/Movies / Prisonbreak & 24. Which Is Better? by lazrin(m): 3:47pm On Dec 19, 2007
i'm in the middle of a controversy as to which of the above named one hr thrillers is more compelling. i personally would take prisonbreak any day, because right from start to the end of season 2 (daysona) it was gripping. 24's ok but i dont it can match the suspense and acting quality of prisonbreak. what say u?
TV/Movies / Re: The Most Violent Or Action Packed Movie Ever by lazrin(m): 8:48pm On Dec 18, 2007
u guyz must be joking. Aeon Flux? Please. i almost slept off 30 miins into the film.
For me the best action packed film has to be The Rock, remember the dialogue between "Anderson" and Ed Harris?
lemme play it back for u guyz.

Anderson: general. anderson here. commander, team leader. we all know why ur here general, and God knows i agree with you. But like u sir, i swore to defend this country, against enemies. foreign sir, and domestic.

General: order ur men to lower ur weapons!

Anderson: general we\ve spilled the same blood in the same mud. You know i cant give that order.

General: You walked into the wrong g@*%$d room! ur down here, we're up here!

Anderson: i will not give that order!

general: Drop ur weapons!

anderson: stand fast!!

general: what the h$%&*ll is wrong with u man!??!

anderson: stand fast!!

die hard 5 was really nice too.

Career / Re: Are You Preparing For Gmat? by lazrin(m): 7:20pm On Dec 13, 2007
kaplan, peterson and all the other real gmat books, not them new gmat aptitude boost ur test score stuff
Career / Re: Are You Preparing For Gmat? by lazrin(m): 9:01pm On Dec 12, 2007
personally i dont think there's any one proven one size fits all rule for the exams, i think u need to be familiar with the content and structure, that's the main thing. most people are already familiar with a lot of material covered on the gmat , tiis just the structure, keep pracitiising though, concentrate on uur strengths

and build up ur stamina wink

hey freelance, yes oh, finally someone with th thread i've been waitin on, i'm scheduled to write early nxt year
any tips, especially on reading comp and critical reaoning, i think i hav my sc down pat, they say for rc, dont get down with mere verbiage and focus on the main ideas, but u know as well as i do, all that is just theory, by the time u go thru a very lenghty passage u tend to lose focus, of the central theme,

Career / Career Scams by lazrin(m): 7:49pm On Sep 14, 2007
hi, i had been a long time user on this forum, and then i got a job thru this same forum (a good one, i might add), and i kinda turned my back on you guys, jus wanted to say thank you, and i rlly much appreciate all the effort.

that aside, i noticed that whenever the comes a post like, "make $500,000 in one month or less" there are a lotta replies to those mails, but there are few replies to emails like " increase your professional certification" etc etc.

people, there are a lot of scams going on and on, be very cautious before u start spending money on a lost cause, ask around, glean every pece of info u can get, from family and friends b4 u start wasting ur time on a wild goose chase
takia and be good all

You gys tended to send only professional exams which were mainly related to th IT industry, what about those in finance marketing and d like? stockbroking? etc, and just out of curiousity, just how widely recognized and important are the CFA certified financial analyst, and CIS chartered institute of stockbrokers?
