The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, has told
the National Assembly that the budget for the army needs to be
increased by N18. 177 billion to enable it effectively fight against
terrorism, pipeline vandalism and other security challenges
facing the country.
Buratai made the statement on Thursday, January 18, during a
budget defence session with the House committee on army, the
Nation reports.
The army chief also advocated for the army to be removed from
the envelop budget ceiling system adopted by the Budget Office
of the Federation.
He said the envelop budgeting system was making the army
ineffective operationally and this is against the grains of current
reforms being carried out.
Buratai said " My passionate appeal for N18.177 billion over the
ceiling capital appropriation, if approved by this hallowed
chamber will enable the Army procure the strategic assets and
platforms needed to support the implementation of ORBAT 2016.
“This will also boost the operational activation of the newly
established Divisions (6,7, and , cater for the deficiency of arms,
ammunitions as well as uniforms to kit the NA personnel.
“I wish to state that the approval will ultimately enhance the
functionality of the Nigerian Army Aviation corps which is
established to complement the efforts of the Nigerian Airforce and
Joint Task Force (JTF) to combat terrorism, pipeline vandalism and
other security challenges”
Bearing in mind the current challenges being faced by the army
in tackling insurgency in the country, the lawmakers agreed
that there was need for the army to have some measure of
budgetary flexibility, and agreed to remove it from the envelop
budgeting system.
Meanwhile, a stakeholders meeting on the reintegration of ex-
Boko Haram fighters into the society was held on Thursday,
January 18, at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
Tagged Operation Safe Corridor (OPSC), it was established to
create opportunity for willing surrendered and repentant Boko
Haram fighters to undergo De-radicalization, Rehabilitation and
Re-integration (DRR) programme to facilitate their return to

Young substitute Oscar Melendo beat Jasper Cillessen with two
minutes to go as Espanyol inflicted Barcelona's first defeat since
August.
Oscar Melendo's late goal saw Espanyol snatch a 1-0 win and
inflict a first defeat on Barcelona since August, after Lionel Messi
failed to score a penalty in the first leg of the Copa del Rey
quarter-finals.
A dominant Barca looked as though they would have to settle for
a goalless draw after Messi saw his second-half spot kick saved
by Diego Lopez on Wednesday, but worse was to come for the
Liga frontrunners.
Espanyol caught them on the break late on and youngster Melendo
provided a neat finish for his first senior goal, inflicting a first
defeat on Barca since their Supercopa de Espana losses to Real
Madrid.
Barca were on top from start to finish and created more than
enough chances to take a victory back to Camp Nou.
But for all their control, the first half proved particularly frustrating,
as clear-cut chances were hard to come by and, when the visitors
did manage to craft an opening, the opportunity was wasted or
saved.
They should have taken the lead just after the hour mark when
Messi stepped up from 12 yards out, but Lopez rescued Espanyol
with a brilliant save and Melendo – introduced from the bench –
struck two minutes from time to secure an unlikely victory for the
home side.

Barcelona did not have much trouble taking control of proceedings
early on, as they enjoyed a monopoly on possession.
Chances were by no means a regular occurrence, however, with
an eighth-minute Sergio Busquets effort that Lopez did well to
parry away being the only opportunity at either end in the first
quarter of the match.
Messi eventually burst into life in the 23rd minute and managed to
charge through a crowd of players to get a shot away, only for
Lopez to make light work of the effort.
At the other end, Barca looked almost too comfortable and such a
relaxed approach nearly cost them, as Sergi Roberto gifted
possession to Gerard Moreno and the forward fired just wide of the
bottom-right corner.
The best chance of the half fell to Denis Suarez just before the
break, though, as the midfielder received Messi's pass in the area
and shot into the side-netting.
Barca's dominance continued into the second half and a moment
of Messi magic forced Lopez into action, as the Argentinian flicked
the ball over his head and drilled a volley towards the bottom-
right corner from 18 yards, with the goalkeeper getting down to
keep it out.
Valverde's frustration brought about the introduction of Ivan
Rakitic and Luis Suarez from the bench and soon after the
Uruguayan's entrance, Barca won a penalty.
Roberto found his way into the Espanyol area and went down
under a clumsy Esteban Granero challenge, but Lopez brilliantly
denied Messi's kick, getting down to his left and tipping it wide.

In an incident that will likely result in a sanction for Espanyol,
Barca goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen appeared to get caught in the
face by something thrown from the stands 13 minutes from the
end.
Thankfully he was fine to continue and he made a strong save to
push Marco Navarro's fierce free-kick effort over.
But he was helpless a few moments from the end when Melendo
latched on to Navarro's well-placed cut-back and steered a
cushioned left-footed finish into the bottom-left corner, ending
Barca's 29-match unbeaten run.

The Bible is an unreliable authority because it contains numerous contradictions. Logically, if two statements are contradictory, at least one of them is false. The biblical contradictions therefore prove that the book has many false statements and is not infallible. Examples of Old Testament Contradictions The contradictions start in the opening chapters of the Bible, where inconsistent creation stories are told. Genesis chapter 1 says the first man and woman were made at the same time, and after the animals. But Genesis chapter 2 gives a different order of creation: man, then the animals, and then woman. Genesis chapter 1 lists six days of creation, whereas chapter 2 refers to the “day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.” Genesis 1:2-3 claims that God created light and divided it from darkness on the first day; but Genesis 1:14-19 tells us the sun, moon, and stars weren’t made until the fourth day. Chapter 1 reports that the fruit trees were created before the man, while chapter 2 indicates they were made after him. Genesis 1:20 says the fowl were created out of the waters; Genesis 2:19 alleges they were formed from the ground. Contradictions are also seen in the biblical story of a worldwide flood. According to Genesis 6:19-22, God ordered Noah to bring “of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort . . . into the ark.” Nevertheless, Genesis 7:2-3 relates that the Lord ordered Noah to take into the ark the clean beasts and the birds by sevens, and only the unclean beasts by twos. Genesis 8:4 reports that, as the waters of the flood receded, Noah’s ark rested on the mountains of Ararat in the seventh month. The very next verse, however, says the mountaintops could not be seen until the tenth month. Genesis 8:13 describes the earth as being dry on the first day of the first month. But Genesis 8:14 informs us the earth was not dry until the twenty-seventh day of the second month. The Old Testament contains an interesting contradiction in the story of the census taken by King David and the resulting punishment of the Israelites. God was so angered by the census that he sent a plague that killed 70,000 men. According to II Samuel 24:1, the Lord had caused David to take the census – which makes the punishment appear even more nonsensical. But an attempt was later made, at I Chronicles 21:1, to improve God’s image by claiming that Satan incited the census. Further, the Old Testament is contradictory as to whether the Lord commanded the Israelites to sacrifice animals to him. At Jeremiah 7:22, God denies he ever gave the Israelites commandments about animal sacrifices. In contrast, Exodus 29:38-42 and many other verses depict God as requiring the Israelites to offer animal sacrifices. Examples of New Testament Contradictions In the New Testament, there are contradictions between the genealogies of Jesus given in the first chapter of Matthew and the third chapter of Luke. Both genealogies begin with Jesus’ father, who is identified as Joseph (which is curious, given that Mary was supposedly impregnated by the Holy Ghost). But Matthew says Joseph’s father was Jacob, while Luke claims he was Heli. Matthew lists 26 generations between Jesus and King David, whereas Luke records 41. Matthew runs Jesus’ line of descent through David’s son Solomon, while Luke has it going through David’s son Nathan. The story of Jesus’ birth is also contradictory. Matthew 2:13-15 depicts Joseph and Mary as fleeing to Egypt with the baby Jesus immediately after the wise men from the east had brought gifts. But Luke 2:22-40 claims that after the birth of Jesus, his parents remained in Bethlehem for the time of Mary’s purification (which was 40 days, under the Mosaic law). Afterwards, they brought Jesus to Jerusalem “to present him to the Lord,” and then returned to their home in Nazareth. Luke mentions no journey into Egypt or visit by wise men from the east. Concerning the death of Judas, the disloyal disciple, Matthew 27:5 states he took the money he had received for betraying Jesus, threw it down in the temple, and “went and hanged himself.” To the contrary, Acts 1:18 claims Judas used the money to purchase a field and “falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.” In describing Jesus being led to his execution, John 19:17 recounts that he carried his own cross. But Mark 15:21-23 disagrees by saying a man called Simon carried the cross. As for the crucifixion, Matthew 27:44 tells us Jesus was taunted by both criminals who were being crucified with him. But Luke 23:39-43 relates that only one of the criminals taunted Jesus, the other criminal rebuked the one who was doing the taunting, and Jesus told the criminal who was defending him, “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Regarding the last words of Jesus while on the cross, Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34 quote Jesus as crying with a loud voice, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Luke 23:46 gives his final words as, “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” John 19:30 alleges the last words were, “It is finished.” There are even contradictions in the accounts of the resurrection – the supposed event that is the very foundation of the Christian religion. Mark 16:2 states that on the day of the resurrection, certain women arrived at the tomb at the rising of the sun. But John 20:1 informs us they arrived when it was yet dark. Luke 24:2 describes the tomb as open when the women arrived, whereas Matthew 28:1-2 indicates it was closed. Mark 16:5 declares that the women saw a young man at the tomb, Luke 24:4 says they saw two men, Matthew 28:2 reports they saw an angel, and John 20:11-12 claims they saw two angels. Also in the resurrection stories, there are contradictions as to the identity of the women who came to the tomb,[7] whether the men or angels the women saw were inside or outside the tomb,[8] whether the men or angels were standing or sitting,[9] and whether Mary Magdalene recognized the risen Jesus when he first appeared to her.[10] As a final example of a New Testament contradiction, the conflicting accounts of Paul’s conversion can be cited. Acts 9:7 states that when Jesus called Paul to preach the gospel, the men who were with Paul heard a voice but saw no man. According to Acts 22:9, however, the men saw a light but didn’t hear the voice speaking to Paul. The foregoing examples are just a few of the hundreds of contradictions contained in the Old and New Testaments. Each contradiction is an instance where at least one of the verses is wrong. Thus, hundreds of contradictions mean there are at least hundreds of incorrect statements in the Bible. |

The object of the war against corruption, in which successive
governments in the country profess themselves to be engaged,
needs to be clearly stated and constantly borne in mind. The
Constitution is unequivocal that the object is the eradication or
abolition of “all corrupt practices and abuse of office.” Accordingly,
a duty is laid on government, federal and state, to do so, i.e. to
“abolish all corrupt practice and abuse of office” : section 15(5).
What, then, does the duty thus laid on government require of it?
The Rt Rev Matthew Kukah, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese,
answers the question thus: The battle against corruption, he said,
“is not so much going to be won by how many investigations and
probes we conduct. It will not be won by how many people go to
jail.” Nor will it be won by how much money is recovered from the
looters of our common wealth. Corruption has to be fought in the
minds and hearts of people, with a view to bringing about a change
in their attitudes towards it, “a change in the Nigerian psyche.” This
is not, however, to say that the anti-corruption war should be
discontinued or that the corruption probes should be abandoned.
They must continue with increased vigour. It only means that the
eradication of corruption and the cleansing of the pervasive
rottenness in our society, of which corruption is a manifestation,
call for a social and ethical revolution, which in turn calls for an
effective mobilisation of the people for the purpose.
Effective mobilisation of the people for a cause, a worthy cause of
course, is one of the most arduous tasks of political leadership. It
requires, as leader, a president with the energy of youth, an energy
that will enable him to move round the country and meet with the
people in their various communities, at town hall gatherings and
other fora, down to the grassroots, and address them on the
imperative necessity for change in their attitudes and mindset, and
the need for patriotism generally. I think that at 75 a person, man
or woman, whoever he or she may be, no longer possesses the
sort of energy required for the purpose. For nearly three years since
his installation in office on 29 May, 2015, President Buhari has not
embarked on such mobilisation exercise apparently because his
advanced age (75) does not enable him to do so and partly
because he appears not to have the necessary inclination or
disposition. The reason of advanced age needs to be remedied by
prescribing in the Constitution an upper age limit for a president, as
is done in some countries of the world, and as is done for non-
elective public officials.
A social and ethical revolution is needed not only to rid the country
of the cankerworm of corruption, but also to launch it upon a New
Beginning, a new socio-political order, a more or less clean slate,
unsmeared by the rottenness that presently pervades the society. A
“change in the Nigerian psyche” is a radical change that requires a
social and ethical revolution to bring it about.
The growing public cynicism about the sincerity of President Buhari
as an uncompromising spear-head of a crusade against corruption
Given that President Buhari was initially acclaimed, hailed and
idolised by the people as an uncompromising spear-head of a
crusade against corruption – taking crusade to mean, not just a
war, but a war fought with great passion and zeal – it is
significant that, in less than two years, the acclaim is giving way to
cynicism about the President’s sincerity in the prosecution of the
war. Is he really the uncompromising crusader that the public had
been led to believe? There is reason to suppose that the public
cynicism is the by-product of the President’s Northernisation
Agenda, as it is being carried into effect by his lopsided strategic
appointments which are so manifestly skewed in favour of the
North and against the South.
Viewed from the standpoint of the war against corruption, it is
significant that all the key officials involved, even if it be indirectly,
in the prosecution of the war are northerners appointed by
President Buhari since his inauguration as President on 29 May,
2015. A list of such appointees shows this assertion to be an
incontrovertible fact.
Babachir Lawal, Secretary to the Government of the Federation
(SGF); appointed in preference to a hotly tipped candidate from the
South-East; after his removal following allegation of diversion of
funds meant for persons displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency
in the North-East, he was replaced by another northerner, Boss
Mustapha, again in preference to a rumoured candidate from the
South-East.
Maj-General Babagana Monguno (rtd), National Security Adviser
(NSA), replacing Dasuki, NSA under former President Goodluck
Jonathan.
Alhaji Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to the President, replacing Brig-Gen
Jones Oladehinde (rtd), the holder of the office under former
President Goodluck Jonathan.
Ibrahim Idris, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) appointed over the
heads of some Southern officers senior to him. The IGP is heading
a Police Force, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in which 15 out of
the 22 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIG), who exercise
much of the function of the operational control of the Force, are
northerners, while 3 are from the South-West and 2 from the
South-East. These blatantly lopsided appointments, all of which
were made since the inception of the Buhari Administration, portray
the NPF as an army of occupation deliberately designed to carry
into effect President Buhari’s Northernisation Aganda in furtherance
of the dream of the Sardauna to reduce the South to “a conquered
territory and thereby prevented from having control over its future”.
The President’s implacable opposition to Re-structuring which
envisages the establishment of State Police should not, therefore,
surprise us. He wants to be able to continue to exercise control
over the internal security of the Southern States and to continue to
hold them hostage. It caricatures true federalism that a constituent
State in a
Federation should be under the control and yoke of the Federal
Government in the matter of its internal security.
Daura, Director-General, Department of State Security (DSS)
replacing Ita Ekpenyong; apart from the DG, the directors are
mostly northerners.
The control of the NPF and DSS by northerners must be taken
together with the fact that the Minister of Interior and the
Permanent Secretary of the ministry are northerners; that the Army
and Air Force are headed by northerners; and, above all that
President Muhammadu Buhari, a northerner, is the Commander-in-
Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, and has the power under the
Constitution to direct the operational use of the NPF for “the
maintenance and securing of public safety and public order”; his
power to direct the operational use of the DSS is even more
plenary. The implication of the control of security by northerners is
that the security of Nigeria and Nigerians is an exclusively northern
affair, thereby putting the rest of us at their mercy.
Abubakar Malami SAN, Attorney-General of the Federation and
Minister of Justice (AGF), a young SAN, who was raised to the rank
in 2008, i.e. seven years before his appointment as AGF.
Lt-Gen Abdulrahman Danbazau (rtd), Minister of Interior.
Magaji Abubakar, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior; he has
publicly admitted to have wrongfully sidetracked the Head of
Service (HoS), Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Its, a southerner, in the
reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, and has apologized to her
accordingly: see the Vanguard of December 1, 2017.
Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC); still kept in office in an acting capacity since 9
November, 2015 because of repeated refusal by the Senate to
confirm his appointment.
Hamed Ibrahim Ali, Controller-General, Nigerian Customs Services;
customs is the underbelly of corruption in Nigeria.
Mohammad Babandede, Controller-General Nigerian Immigration
Services; immigration stands implicated in Maina’s escape out of
Nigeria after his sack from the civil service and his subsequent re-
entry into it.
Amb. Muhammed Dauda, Acting Director-General National
Intelligence Agency (NIA), replacing Ayo Oke, a southerner; after he
was sacked, following the discovery in the NIA offices in the
Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, of the sum of $43 million, £27,800 and N23
million.
Alhaji Amed Idris, Accountant-General of the Federation, replacing
Jonah Ogunniyi Otunla, a southerner.
Maitanti Baru, Group Managing Director, Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), replacing Ibe Kachukwu, a
southerner, who, as Minister of State for Petroleum and Chairman,
NNPC Board, was sidelined by Baru in the process for the award of
some NNPC contracts; earlier he has been downgraded from
Minister of Petroleum to Minister of State for Petroleum, with the
President taking over as his own Petroleum Minister.
Abdulrasheed Maina, Chairman, Presidential Task Force on Pension
Reform; although his initial appointment took place before the
Buhari Administration, his reinstatement after he was sacked
occurred during that Administration, with the President’s approval
as the evidence shows.
The 15 appointments listed above are the strategic appointments
as they relate to the prosecution of the war against corruption.
There are of course other lopsided strategic appointments, such as
the appointment of Professor Mahmood Yakubu as Chairman,
Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and Hadiza Bala-Usman
as Head aof the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). The listed
appointments raise critical issues as to the intention or design
behind them. They look like a swoop on the South, a jihad
designed to foist Northern domination, or even subjugation, on the
South in pursuance of the Sarduna’s agenda, announced as far
back as 1960, to “subjugate” the South and “reduce it to a
conquered territory”, with the object of preventing it from having
“control over its future,” an agenda which President Buhari, in a
speech in May 2015 as President-elect, re-echoed and vowed to
carry to a “finish”. What other reason could there be for
concentrating in the North the appointments to all the positions
vital to the effective prosecution of the war against corruption? We
need to be told. One hopes that the order for the purchase of war
planes from the U.S., ostensibly to fight Boko Haram terrorism, is
not connected with the hidden agenda for a jihad.
The 15 appointments stand uncontroverted. And yet in a futile
attempt to controvert the incontrovertible, the President, responding
to a newspaper report that 81 of 100 appointments made by him
were from the North, published a list of 159 appointments made by
him, 85 of which were from the South and 74 from the North: see
the Vanguard November 6, 2017. We are being treated again to
another irrelevancy designed to befog a critical issue and to
hoodwink the Nigerian people. The President is simply preying on
the gullibility of the public in anything that comes from him.
What all this means is that corruption is being fought, not by an
all-inclusive team of officials, but by officials drawn from one
section of the country, the North, separated in interests, outlook and
attitude from the South, which makes the war look like an
exclusively Northern affair. Hence the increase in public cynicism
about the President’s sincerity as leader. The cynicism seems to
have reached its peak in the Maina case, tagged by the media as
the Maina saga or Mainagate, involving several billions of naira
allegedly stolen from the pension fund scheme superintended by
the Presidential Task Force Reform Team of which Abdulrasheed
Maina was Chairman.
The aspect of the Maina case that aroused great public interest
and heightened public cynicism about the sincerity of the President
as leader of a crusade was the threat by the Chief of Staff to the
President, Alhaji Abba Kyari, a northerner, to “query” the Head of
Service of the Federation (HoS), Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, a
southerner, for saying that she informed the President of Maina’s
reinstatement which was effected against her opposition. The
threat was made in the view of people, including the Vice-
President, arriving at the Council Chambers for the weekly meeting
of the Federal Executive Council. The threat and the HoS instant
but angry response triggered public reaction. Is the HoS under the
authority of the Chief of Staff as to make her amenable to a query
by him? Why should he publicly utter such a threat, except
perhaps as an over-zealous show of solidarity for a master from
the same section of the country, the North? Was the motive a
concern to shield a fellow northerner? The public was not told
anything more about this scandalous exhibition of sectionalism
other than that the controversy had been settled by the President
meeting privately with the two quarrelling officials.
But the public cynicism remains. Was something being concealed
from the public about the whole Maina saga? Was the President in
fact privy to Maina’s return to the country and his reinstatement
into the civil service, and did he authorise it? Maina’s testimony
came on 29 November, 2017, as reported in the Vanguard of that
day. He said:
“When this government came in, the president gave his note that
go and sit down with Maina. I have given you the approval. They
sat down with me…..The process of my reinstatement started after
the Attorney-General, Mr Malami, visited me. As soon as the
present government decided to sit with me, and after sitting with
me, I told them I will not leave you to go back to Nigeria without
something in your pocket. I’m going to give you something in your
pocket, and the Minister laughed.”
Maina’s testimony has not been countered by government.
The eradication of corruption requires the concerted efforts of all
Nigerians fighting together as one people under an all-inclusive
government, not a government perceived to be one for one section
of the country only, the North, and from which the other section
feels alienated. |

Pastor Seyi Adeyemi, the Senior Pastor of The Worship Centre, has
reacted to the debate on whether pastors are entitled to collect
tithes from members.
The cleric said it was a must for people to pay tithe, even if their
pastor embezzled it.
Speaking with Vanguard, the cleric said tithing had been in
existence since Abrahamic era and could not be stopped for any
reason.
He said, “When you speak about the things of God, you need to
speak out of the knowledge which reveals the mind of God and not
from convenience or circumstance. A lot of the people who spoke
against tithe spoke because they don’t pay and they probably want
to get people to align with them.
“Second, they spoke because they felt that recession is biting so
hard and they felt that tithe was taking part of their income and,
therefore, affecting their ability to live which, in itself, is ignorance.
Third, because I know that whenever you see a campaign against
biblical principles and doctrines, the devil is behind it. The
scriptures that talk about tithe began as far back as Genesis where
Abraham paid tithe to Melchizedek. Then it moved on to
Deuteronomy where the people of Israel were required to make 10
per cent contribution to the house of God in order to take care of
the Levites.
“That is how the issue of tithe was established in the Jewish
setting and, of course, when it got to Malachi, which is the popular
scripture, Malachi 3:10, the Bible says ‘bring all tithes into the

question, by demanding tithe, does God really need our money?
No. God requires man, wherever there is a physical demand for
anything in church, it is not because God is in need, it is because
God wants us to learn how to honour Him with what He has given
to us.
“People need to understand that the needs in the house of God will
be met whether or not people decide in their own wisdom or
knowledge to bring. So people need to come to the understanding
that we are not doing God a favor by obeying that scripture, we are
doing ourselves a favor. The argument that tithe was given as a
commandment to Jews and that it was supposed to be paid to the
Levites, and we are not Jews and neither are pastors Levites
simply shows the ignorance of those who say so.
“The Bible makes it clear that everything that took place in the Old
Testament was an example for the future. It used physical things to
give analogy for the understanding of spiritual things that were
going to come. So when we talk about tithe, there is a need in the
house of God that transcends just meat and drink. The Church has
a role to take care of the brotherhood. The Church has a role to
step in and try to bridge the gap where government fails as far as
people’s welfare is concerned. The Church has a role to propagate
the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ for God till the end of the earth.
All these assignments require money and that is what tithe is
meant for.
“Do people arrogate tithe and offerings to themselves? Yes! But the
misuse of something does not nullify the authenticity of its
command. Every man, pastor will give an account of his
stewardship to God. So if somebody is not being faithful, it does
not nullify the Commandment of God. It simply means that you are
being unfaithful to the commandment of God. So, if somebody
takes the tithe that belongs to the church and uses it for his own
personal need, that is unfaithfulness. I don’t believe that the money
that comes from tithe and offering is enough to buy private jets. We
need to talk about something else.”

The third batch of 560 Nigerian returnees from Libya have arrived
Port Harcourt, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Mr Martins Ejike, the South-South Zonal Coordinator, National
Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), made this known to
newsmen on Sunday in Port Harcourt.
Ejike said that the returnees, comprising 540 adult and 20 infants,
arrived the airport on board Max Air, with registration No: 5N-HMM
at about 11:52 p.m.
However, he expressed dissatisfaction over poor response of some
state governments in evacuating the Libyan returnees from the
reception centre in the state.
The zonal coordinator said that the Federal Government gave the
states 48 hours to enable them evacuate their returnees from the
centre,
He expressed dismay that some states failed to abide by the
directives, noting that South-West states are not responding to the
evacuation process.
Ejike said that the choice of Port Harcourt airport as evacuation route
was based on proximity to the most affected states.
“A graphic showed that Edo state along recorded 309 out of 484
migrants, the record also showed that over 80 per cent of the
returnees were indigenes of Edo and Delta states.
“It is more convenient for the largely affected states to evacuate their
returnees from Port Harcourt,” he said.
Mr Muhammad Dahiru, the Public Relations Officer of Max Air, also
said that the airline was competent to convey 1,680 returnees if
passengers were cleared without delays.
Dahiru said that the airline deployed three air crafts with 560 capacity
each for the operation, adding that speedy operation can be
actualised if passengers documentation and clearance are not
delayed.
One of the returnees, Mr Paul Eke, who thanked the federal
government on ensuring smooth return of migrants, said that the
measure showed government’s commitment to its citizens.
Eke also urged the government to continue its rescue process to the
hinterland in the Libyan states where some Nigerians were being
imprisoned and unjustly tortured.
“I urge our federal government to do more by rescuing some
Nigerians who are still trapped in some interior parts of Libya.
“I stayed in Zawe Superata, this place is like an exit point to Italy and
so many Nigerians are still being imprisoned there,” Eke alleged.

the contrary, Acts 1:18 claims Judas used the money to purchase
a field and “falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and
all his bowels gushed out.”
In describing Jesus being led to his execution, John 19:17
recounts that he carried his own cross. But Mark 15:21-23
disagrees by saying a man called Simon carried the cross.
As for the crucifixion, Matthew 27:44 tells us Jesus was taunted
by both criminals who were being crucified with him. But Luke

destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger
and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you
and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised
your ancestors. “The LORD your God will be merciful only
if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you
today, doing what is pleasing to him.” (Deuteronomy
13:13-19 NLT)
Kill Women Who Are Not Virgins On Their Wedding
Night
But if this charge is true (that she wasn’t a virgin on her
wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not
found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her
fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to
death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her
unchasteness in her father’s house. Thus shall you purge
the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB)
Kill Followers of Other Religions.
1) If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or
your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you
secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers
have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand
or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not
yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him,
to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the
first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in
with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought
to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought
you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all
Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as
this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)
2) Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your
towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil
in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the
covenant by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun,
the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have
strictly forbidden. When you hear about it, investigate the
matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has
been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be
taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death.

Death for Blasphemy
One day a man who had an Israelite mother and an
Egyptian father got into a fight with one of the Israelite
men. During the fight, this son of an Israelite woman
blasphemed the LORD’s name. So the man was brought to
Moses for judgment. His mother’s name was Shelomith.
She was the daughter of Dibri of the tribe of Dan. They put
the man in custody until the LORD’s will in the matter
should become clear. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Take
the blasphemer outside the camp, and tell all those who
heard him to lay their hands on his head. Then let the
entire community stone him to death. Say to the people of
Israel: Those who blaspheme God will suffer the
consequences of their guilt and be punished. Anyone who
blasphemes the LORD’s name must be stoned to death by
the whole community of Israel. Any Israelite or foreigner
among you who blasphemes the LORD’s name will surely
die. (Leviticus 24:10-16 NLT)
Kill False Prophets
1) Suppose there are prophets among you, or those who
have dreams about the future, and they promise you signs
or miracles, and the predicted signs or miracles take place.
If the prophets then say, ‘Come, let us worship the gods of
foreign nations,’ do not listen to them. The LORD your
God is testing you to see if you love him with all your heart
and soul. Serve only the LORD your God and fear him
alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to
him. The false prophets or dreamers who try to lead you
astray must be put to death, for they encourage rebellion
against the LORD your God, who brought you out of
slavery in the land of Egypt. Since they try to keep you
from following the LORD your God, you must execute them
to remove the evil from among you. (Deuteronomy 13:1-5
NLT)
2) But any prophet who claims to give a message from
another god or who falsely claims to speak for me must
die.’ You may wonder, ‘How will we know whether the
prophecy is from the LORD or not?’ If the prophet predicts
something in the LORD’s name and it does not happen, the
LORD did not give the message. That prophet has spoken
on his own and need not be feared. (Deuteronomy 18:20-22
NLT)
Infidels and Gays Should Die
So God let them go ahead and do whatever shameful things
their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and
degrading things with each other’s bodies. Instead of
believing what they knew was the truth about God, they
deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the
things God made but not the Creator himself, who is to be
praised forever. Amen. That is why God abandoned them
to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against
the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex
with each other. And the men, instead of having normal
sexual relationships with women, burned with lust for each
other. Men did shameful things with other men and, as a
result, suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly
deserved. When they refused to acknowledge God, he
abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things
that should never be done. Their lives became full of every
kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting,
deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are
backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful.
They are forever inventing new ways of sinning and are
disobedient to their parents. They refuse to understand,
break their promises, and are heartless and unforgiving.
They are fully aware of God’s death penalty for those who
do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them
anyway. And, worse yet, they encourage others to do them,
too. (Romans 1:24-32 NLT)
Kill Anyone who Approaches the Tabernacle
For the LORD had said to Moses, ‘Exempt the tribe of Levi
from the census; do not include them when you count the
rest of the Israelites. You must put the Levites in charge of
the Tabernacle of the Covenant, along with its furnishings
and equipment. They must carry the Tabernacle and its
equipment as you travel, and they must care for it and
camp around it. Whenever the Tabernacle is moved, the
Levites will take it down and set it up again. Anyone else
who goes too near the Tabernacle will be executed.’
(Numbers 1:48-51 NLT)
Kill People for Working on the Sabbath
The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses:
‘Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the
Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you
forever. It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who
makes you holy. Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy.
Anyone who desecrates it must die; anyone who works on
that day will be cut off from the community. Work six days
only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest. I
repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone
who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.’ (Exodus
31:12-15 NLT)

Kill Brats
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. While he was on his
way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at
him. “Go up baldhead,” they shouted, “go up baldhead!”
The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in
the name of the Lord. Then two shebears came out of the
woods and tore forty two of the children to pieces. (2 Kings
2:23-24 NAB)
God Kills the Curious
And he smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they
had looked into the ark of Jehovah, he smote of the people
seventy men, `and’ fifty thousand men; and the people
mourned, because Jehovah had smitten the people with a
great slaughter. And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who
is able to stand before Jehovah, this holy God? and to
whom shall he go up from us? (1Samuel 6:19-20 ASV)
Killed by a Lion
Meanwhile, the LORD instructed one of the group of
prophets to say to another man, “Strike me!” But the man
refused to strike the prophet. Then the prophet told him,
“Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, a lion
will kill you as soon as you leave me.” And sure enough,
when he had gone, a lion attacked and killed him. (1 Kings
20:35-36 NLT)
Killing the Good Samaritan
The ark of God was placed on a new cart and taken away
from the house of Abinadab on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio,
sons of Abinadab guided the cart, with Ahio walking before
it, while David and all the Israelites made merry before the
Lord with all their strength, with singing and with
citharas, harps, tambourines, sistrums, and cymbals.
When they came to the threshing floor of Nodan, Uzzah
reached out his hand to the ark of God to steady it, for the
oxen were making it tip. But the Lord was angry with
Uzzah; God struck him on that spot, and he died there
before God. (2 Samuel 6:3-7 NAB)

Kill Sons of Sinners
Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their
fathers; Lest they rise and posses the earth, and fill the
breadth of the world with tyrants. (Isaiah 14:21 NAB)
God Will Kill Children
The glory of Israel will fly away like a bird, for your
children will die at birth or perish in the womb or never
even be conceived. Even if your children do survive to
grow up, I will take them from you. It will be a terrible
day when I turn away and leave you alone. I have watched
Israel become as beautiful and pleasant as Tyre. But now
Israel will bring out her children to be slaughtered.” O
LORD, what should I request for your people? I will ask
for wombs that don’t give birth and breasts that give no
milk. The LORD says, “All their wickedness began at
Gilgal; there I began to hate them. I will drive them from
my land because of their evil actions. I will love them no
more because all their leaders are rebels. The people of
Israel are stricken. Their roots are dried up; they will bear
no more fruit. And if they give birth, I will slaughter their
beloved children.” (Hosea 9:11-16 NLT)
Kill Men, Women, and Children
“Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, “Follow him
through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not
marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all – old
and young, girls and women and little children. But do not
touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at
the Temple.” So they began by killing the seventy leaders.
“Defile the Temple!” the LORD commanded. “Fill its
courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!” So they
went throughout the city and did as they were told.”
(Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)
God Kills all the First Born of Egypt
And at midnight the LORD killed all the firstborn sons in
the land of Egypt, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who
sat on the throne, to the firstborn son of the captive in the
dungeon. Even the firstborn of their livestock were killed.
Pharaoh and his officials and all the people of Egypt woke
up during the night, and loud wailing was heard
throughout the land of Egypt. There was not a single house
where someone had not died. (Exodus 12:29-30 NLT)
Kill Old Men and Young Women
“You are my battle-ax and sword,” says the LORD. “With
you I will shatter nations and destroy many kingdoms.
With you I will shatter armies, destroying the horse and
rider, the chariot and charioteer. With you I will shatter
men and women, old people and children, young men and
maidens. With you I will shatter shepherds and flocks,
farmers and oxen, captains and rulers. “As you watch, I
will repay Babylon and the people of Babylonia for all the
wrong they have done to my people in Jerusalem,” says the
LORD. “Look, O mighty mountain, destroyer of the earth!
I am your enemy,” says the LORD. “I will raise my fist
against you, to roll you down from the heights. When I am
finished, you will be nothing but a heap of rubble. You will
be desolate forever. Even your stones will never again be
used for building. You will be completely wiped out,” says
the LORD. (Jeremiah 51:20-26)
(Note that after God promises the Israelites a victory
against Babylon, the Israelites actually get their butts
kicked by them in the next chapter. So much for an all-
knowing and all-powerful God.)
God Will Kill the Children of Sinners
If even then you remain hostile toward me and refuse to
obey, I will inflict you with seven more disasters for your
sins. I will release wild animals that will kill your children
and destroy your cattle, so your numbers will dwindle and
your roads will be deserted. (Leviticus 26:21-22 NLT)
More Rape and Baby Killing
Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword.
Their little children will be dashed to death right before
their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives
raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes
against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy
them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young
people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless
babies and will show no compassion for the children.

(The Lord saves Sampson from standing trial for 30
murders and arson by allowing him to kill 1000 more
men.) When he reached Lehi, and the Philistines came
shouting to meet him, the spirit of the Lord came upon
him: the ropes around his arms become as flax that is
consumed by fire and the bonds melted away from his
hands. Near him was the fresh jawbone of an ass; he
reached out, grasped it, and with it killed a thousand men.

Peter Kills Two People
There was also a man named Ananias who, with his wife,
Sapphira, sold some property. He brought part of the
money to the apostles, but he claimed it was the full
amount. His wife had agreed to this deception. Then Peter
said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart? You lied
to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for
yourself. The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you
wished. And after selling it, the money was yours to give
away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren’t
lying to us but to God.” As soon as Ananias heard these
words, he fell to the floor and died. Everyone who heard
about it was terrified. Then some young men wrapped him
in a sheet and took him out and buried him. About three
hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had
happened. Peter asked her, “Was this the price you and
your husband received for your land?” “Yes,” she replied,
“that was the price.” And Peter said, “How could the two
of you even think of doing a thing like this – conspiring
together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Just outside that
door are the young men who buried your husband, and
they will carry you out, too.” Instantly, she fell to the floor
and died. When the young men came in and saw that she
was dead, they carried her out and buried her beside her
husband. Great fear gripped the entire church and all
others who heard what had happened. (Acts 5:1-11 NLT)
Mass Murder
This is what the Lord of hosts has to say: ‘I will punish
what Amalek did to Israel when he barred his way as he
was coming up from Egypt. Go, now, attack Amalek, and
deal with him and all that he has under the ban. Do not
spare him, but kill men and women, children and infants,
oxen and sheep, camels and asses.’ (1 Samuel 15:2-3 NAB)
