Family / Re: My Wife Insisting That Her Pastor Must officiate our child naming ceremony. by MeezPat(f): 12:33am On Jul 19
Tufiakwa,How can you come online disclosing all this about your wife/mother of your child to total strangers on nairaland.Do you not have family members or initiatives on fixing issues.....Plus your phone number is on previous posts....How would your wife feel if she finds out
BlindAngel:

Her mom already left their father when they were still young, she was brought up by a single mom.

Last year someone told me that while they were still married her mom was bringing small boys into their matrimonial bed to sex, on the day of our traditional marriage, one mama that lives close to where I lives called me to the corner and said she has a lot to tell me, after the traditional marriage I went to see her and she told me that my wife elder sister is doing runs which I I'm very much aware of, because she came to visit me one day, her and my wife that was when she was still my girlfriend, and she was boosting that no boy will and can ever Bleep her for free. Even her post on whatsapp status is all about sex and Bleep, smoke etc.

She told me also that her mom was once bringing young boys into their house while still married that she lived close to her before.

I didn't noticed any of this trait on my wife, "then girlfriend" and I haven't still noticed despite monitoring and cloning her WhatsApp.

Nice Osita, Did you do this one by one or from an investing portal.
ositadima1:
FA for totalenergies, hit or miss? grin grin cheesy wink

Let's analyze the financial data for TotalEnergies Downstream Nigeria from 2021 to 2023.

Key Financial Ratios Analysis

Liquidity Ratios:
1. Current Ratio:
- 2021: 1.00
- 2022: 1.03
- 2023: 1.03
- Analysis: The current ratio remains stable and slightly above 1, indicating that the company has just enough current assets to cover its current liabilities.

2. Quick Ratio:
- 2021: 0.82
- 2022: 0.79
- 2023: 0.79
- Analysis: The quick ratio is below 1, showing potential liquidity issues as the company may not be able to meet its short-term liabilities without selling inventory.

3. Cash Ratio:
- 2021: 0.39
- 2022: 0.33
- 2023: 0.29
- Analysis: The declining cash ratio indicates reduced cash reserves, making it difficult for the company to cover its short-term obligations with cash alone.

Profitability Ratios:
1. Gross Profit Margin:
- 2021: 16.1%
- 2022: 12.5%
- 2023: 12.9%
- Analysis: There is a decline in gross profit margin from 2021 to 2022, with a slight recovery in 2023, suggesting increased cost of goods sold or pricing pressures.

2. Net Profit Margin:
- 2021: 4.9%
- 2022: 3.3%
- 2023: 2.0%
- Analysis: The net profit margin is decreasing, indicating declining profitability possibly due to increased operating expenses or reduced revenues.

3. Return on Assets (ROA):
- 2021: 8.1%
- 2022: 5.2%
- 2023: 3.4%
- Analysis: A decreasing ROA shows declining efficiency in using assets to generate earnings.

4. Return on Equity (ROE):
- 2021: 40.5%
- 2022: 32.1%
- 2023: 23.0%
- Analysis: ROE is significantly decreasing, indicating reduced profitability and potentially increased financial leverage.

Efficiency Ratios:
1. Asset Turnover Ratio:
- 2021: 1.64
- 2022: 1.57
- 2023: 1.69
- Analysis: A slight increase in 2023 indicates improved efficiency in using assets to generate sales.

2. Inventory Turnover Ratio:
- 2021: 11.26
- 2022: 9.54
- 2023: 8.32
- Analysis: The inventory turnover is declining, suggesting slower movement of inventory and potential overstocking issues.

3. Receivables Turnover Ratio:
- 2021: 6.49
- 2022: 5.50
- 2023: 4.82
- Analysis: A declining receivables turnover ratio indicates slower collection of receivables, impacting cash flow.

Leverage Ratios:
1. Debt Ratio:
- 2021: 0.80
- 2022: 0.84
- 2023: 0.85
- Analysis: The increasing debt ratio shows growing reliance on debt to finance assets, which could be risky.

2. Debt-to-Equity Ratio:
- 2021: 4.02
- 2022: 5.12
- 2023: 5.69
- Analysis: The debt-to-equity ratio is increasing, indicating higher financial leverage and potential solvency issues.

3. Interest Coverage Ratio:
- 2021: 15.03
- 2022: 5.55
- 2023: 2.72
- Analysis: A sharp decline in interest coverage ratio suggests decreasing ability to meet interest obligations from earnings, increasing financial risk.

Market Value Ratios:
1. Earnings Per Share (EPS):
- 2021: 49.66
- 2022: 47.47
- 2023: 38.03
- Analysis: The decreasing EPS reflects declining profitability and potentially reduced shareholder value.

Free Cash Flow to Equity (FCFE) Analysis:
1. FCFE (in '000 NGN):
- 2021: -10,554,927
- 2022: 43,197,064
- 2023: -51,769,578
- Analysis: FCFE is highly volatile with significant negative values in 2021 and 2023, and a large positive value in 2022. This indicates fluctuating free cash flow available to equity holders, affected by changes in net borrowing and working capital.

Here are the considerations for a buy, sell, or hold decision:

Buy:
- Positive Aspects: The company showed some resilience in gross profit margins in 2023 and a slight improvement in asset turnover. The company had a significant positive FCFE in 2022, indicating potential for high returns during certain periods.
- Potential Catalysts: If the company can improve its efficiency and manage its debt levels better, it could become a more attractive investment.

Sell:
- Negative Aspects: Declining profitability metrics such as net profit margin, ROA, and ROE over the years. Increasing debt levels and decreasing interest coverage ratios indicate higher financial risk. Volatility in FCFE and negative cash flows in 2021 and 2023 highlight cash management issues.
- Risks: The high debt-to-equity ratio and lower liquidity ratios suggest financial instability, making it a risky investment.

Hold:
- Neutral Aspects: Stable current ratio and slight recovery in gross profit margins in 2023. If you already hold the stock, you might want to wait and see if there are any strategic changes or improvements in the company’s financial health.

Conclusion:
Given the mixed results, the high debt levels, and declining profitability, selling might be the most prudent action if you are risk-averse. But, if you believe in the company’s long-term strategy and potential for improvement, you might consider holding.

Their is no really straight forward answer to this question but after paying for your flights and accomodation, do you have enough money for daily sustenance for the time frame you wish to stay or is your trip fully sponsored. Also, have you maintained your account reasonably in the past 6 months. You cannot maintain a 50k balance for 6 months and generate 5 million balance from nowhere. If you are moving personal funds from maybe an investment account to the account, do well to explain in a cover letter attaching statement of investment account too. I hope this helps.

This has slowly fizzled away and information on it is not so transparent as it used to be.Some aren't even aware it exists plus CGPA is a condition... This generation are softies.Better to hustle 5 or more scholarships, each paying minimum 100k annually for your duration in school than work study. Some scholarships even pay as high as 500k per session, then very few pay stipend in dollars...

The statement "Nigerians will spend their last cash to have quality time and meal" is relative. We are a poor country Hogwarth, Even some of the competitors that were seen as QSR luxury are now modifying products for the market such as smaller boxes of pizza, roadside and market storms, cheaper meals such as the less than a 1000 naira meal and snacks...This is not a business I would be interested in for obvious reasons-barriers to entry are low and increasingly stiff competition. If they want to be profitable and offer shareholders value, they need to be serious. I would suggest:

- Intensive marketing to take on a huge number of the working population by offering convenience, incentives and better product offerings.
- Incorporating a bit of night life like "the place",and providing the right ambience for celebrations(this could be another source of income)
- They could also try to create products for the mass market like chicken republic, the place, dominos & Co. have done.

Hogwarthtrades:

Tantaliser is an interesting one , Seems the management Mr & Mrs. Ayeni and their board are bereft of ideas at this point ( QSR value = garbage in, garbage out. ) a handful of Franchises (not hearsay, they 're acquanitances, show their books as profitable. You begin to wonder why there is no standarardisation across the chain?
Definitely need a turn around approach. If you are given the task/ opportunity to turn the company around, what will be your suggestions? (Will be interesting to see other peeps ideas)

1. Re-evaluate the menu and pricing structure (if it means partnering with bright local chefs to work on Nigeria Local dish, Mexican and oriental cuisine) - Quality, cost. Strongly believe create the environ, Nigerians will spend their last cash to have quality time and meal.

Tantalizers is dead as far as I am concerned, no value here and it would be difficult to get any.The numbers are not interesting in any way, heavy in debt, stiff competition from chicken Republic, kilimanjaro and other new brands and they are not receptive towards innovation.Their pricing is also not competitive and their restaurant outlets are dwindling. Some outlets have the top as religious houses. No value trap for any investor here except jijoists which is not also bad if you know when to jump in and out grin grin.
Locotrader:

There were value in them when they got listed and people saw the value and invested their money.Their value can only cease when they go bankruptcy and when they delist.I have not recommended and will not until they have figures.Thats my reply

But are you sure these 2 companies are now maribound?

This is a bit wrong though for bonds....Your capital can fall or rise in relation to interest rates...If newer bonds are issued at higher yields, your capital falls if you demand an immediate sale, If issued at lesser yields than you bought, your capital increases.Investor is only immune if he waits till maturity of which, there are still inflationary pressures
ositadima1:

You bought a stock like UCAP 4 years ago. Last year it returned 57.6% in dividends. The stock kept moving up. Now you look at its current value and see that if you liquidate now and invest in government bonds at 14 to 13%, you stand to get about 128% annually(on initial stock investment).

You want to do it, but you consider that 13% is fixed and once you are invested, neither your capital nor dividends will appreciate (or fall). However, the dividends have no ceiling and if the stock has moved this far, it would likely outperform the fixed returns over time.

You also realize that you may never be able to buy that stock at that initial price again. What would you do? grin grin grin

These rents you posted will only be feasible for old houses. A standard bed sitter with POP, standard kitchen cabinet, heater and wardrobe, you won't even see it for 250k.

There was 1 spacious 1 bed room flat somebody posted in one WhatsApp group I am in. It goes for 620k including every other fees. Actual rent was 450k.

The apartment is fine though. So, it's worth it. But those fees up there, can only be possible for old houses with those old asbestos ceilings.

Career / Re: 400k Salary, but nothing. by MeezPat(f): 12:11am On Jan 11
OP,

Try dividing your income into four monthly -
Survive(your needs)Ideally this includes feeding, housing, transportation, school fees etc,...50% seems ideal

Revive(your wants)It is only deceitful to think you would not spend on wants.you do not need this for survival but might need to part with cash for this once in a while for peace to reign or in order to live a balanced life...things such as kids excursion once in a while, general workplace gifting, cable TV subscription etc....Ideally 10-20% of your income can go here

Strive(savings and investments) - Build an emergency fund as rainy days come from time to time that become an immediate need.Split the remaining 30-35% left into 2 building an emergency fund with one and investing with the rest in a mix of asset classes considering your status and reasonable risk appetite.

While doing this, strive to increase your income by changing jobs through continous learning and improvement, learn and read books about investing (a fool and his money are easily parted).

There is one I bought 4m and is now worth 20m after just 5 years.
