@ all men on the thread all you men claiming natural, you don't know that 'natural' requires work too. No one was born with feet or hands that don't need manicuring or hair that doesn't require attention. I hardly use make up and hardly wear weaves but its still an effort to keep those things God blessed me with looking good! Clear skin for me is an effort as I am blemish prone, although I don't wear weaves often I retouch and wash and set regularly. Unwanted body hair needs to be waxed and the list goes on and on and on. Natural doesnt mean no effort. You guys need to appreciate more

@ aysometin
wrt to skincare tips, u havnt said what state your skin is in and what your complexion is.
Regardless of what your complexion is tho, u can use things with alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) if u hav sun damaged skin but no break outs and beta hydroxy acids (BHA) if u are prone to breakouts,,, AHA and BHA are exfoliants derived from fruit and milk sugars such as glycolic acid produced from sugar cane and lactic acid produced from milk, they have a gentle exfoliating action that allows the dead skin cells to fall off and exposing newer clearer skin cells to give the flawless look. Mind u have to use sunscreen with strength SPF 15 or more so sun damage does not re-occur.
there is also a very good oil (can't remember d name) i used to buy it at yaba market. its in a tiny bottle, reddish liquid and used to be sold for N60 per bottle i used to by a whole pack of 12 for N600. when i remember the name, I'll update the thread,,, (or u can ask at the market, I'm sure someone would recognise it). anyways u can use it straight or mix it in your cream, it smells nice and helps increase the rate of skin cell renewal, also helps against blemishes and reduces sun damage, to give u that glow.
Alternatively Bio-Oil is quite good, only started using it myself so i can't swear by it tho. it costs about £20 for d small bottle and i know its sold at one of those cosmetic stores at the palms.
unfortunately i havnt lived in lagos for a while so i can't be much help with where 2 go for your spa treatments however i used to visit RUTHIES at Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja Lagos, they do facials and spa treatments as well as bridals don't knw what their services are like now but they used to be pretty good,,,
alternatively there are loads of spa's in V/I, i know i saw alot of bill boards for them on my last visit,,,
goodluck

@Hr Hotness,
I am really grateful for your comments.
I am dark skinned and don't experience break outs, but my skin colour is not uniform though I have a close to smooth face. Can u please specify products that contain (AHA) and products with SPF 15. I presently use a scrub used as spa that I got from Next in December and Marykay facial cleanser together. I use Dove soap and jergens cream.
I will be grateful if you remember the name of the oil so I can start using it. And then Yaba market is upside down now, can't dream of going there,, I will try other markets once u remember the name.
Adeniyi Jones is so very close to my crib, so I will check out the place soon and ask them the routine I have to go through till that day.
Spas in VI, thats all my salary o, lol Thanx my dear anyways.
More help sistas out there.

@ aysometin I cld specify products but i don't knw if u'll find them in Nigeria,,, I did use vaseline intensive toning cream with AHA but i remember i cld no longer find it in the market, d only other one i can think of is black opal lotion with AHA,,, can't think of anymore right now but if i do I'll update the thread,,,, can't remember d name of the oil for the life of me but I'll ask around to see if anyone here can remember it. alternatively,,, try using clarins,,, its a bit pricey tho but your wedding only comes once right? they have really good sunscreens and skin clarifying treatments with AHA. mind u don't get the skin lighteners tho, so u don't mess with your natural complexion. there is a place that does facials at ojuelegba,,, can't give u an address tho because i've never been, my friend is always talking about it and i think it costs sumthin between N3000 - N6000 (can't swear by that tho). try askin around at the salons in that area, i hear its quite popular so it should be pretty easy to find

@ Ayosomethin
There are some spas in Victoria Island like Veni Vici, Montagne spa, Nail studio etc. You can go there and have facials, manicures and pedicures. As for looking good on your wedding day, I would say drink 2L of water everyday, buy a good chemical exfoliator like HR Hotness suggested or go for weekly facials at one of the day spas around. Will get back to you on the colonic irrigation. There is a place in Ikeja that does it.

i had to start wearing coloured contacts because i kept loosing the clear ones (can't see d darn things when they drop) I admit the colours looked too unnatural i found a shade of gray that looks good tho,,, people still don't believe those arent my eye colour even when i tell them i'm wearing contacts so when u getting the laser thing done?

hmmn no idea just yet. Will probably wait a year or 2 and make sure i want to go ahead with the procedure. The optician said optimal age for getting the surgery done is about my age so will wait a bit. The story about your colleague has also added to my fear. My eyesight might not be perfect but i still love having eyes!

Bio oil (suprisingly cheap) was made by oyibo people so faced with a choice i'll always go for secret oil,,, i've used it and it works,,, I used it straight and it got rid of my blemishs plus it also helps protect u from the sun. Is palmers success the same as skin success? if it is mind that u buy the original, i've never used it but i've heard loads of compliants that there are fakes,,, had a discussion with my girls and neutrogena products are highly recommended, also clarins,,,

Yes i love clarins (u got me),,, like i said its a bit pricey but i know for certain it works, i've used it and i know people who have used it as well, plus it seems to work well in the nigerian weather. the problem with many products is that they arent effective in the nigerian weather,,,, not that i don't like Mary Kay, hav never used it so i don't hav an opinion ultimately its your decison,,,, good luck
