Democracy in Biafra? I don't remember that being part of the Biafran plan. Basic infrastructure? By the same Ibos who have yet to provide the basics in Ibo land for over 40 years, even with Ibo governors??

Another Igbo bashing thread. undecided

New day, new Igbo bashing threads.
Re: Will Igbos Be Better Off Alone in Biafra Like Swaziland? by Kobojunkie: 4:35am On Jul 19, 2009
Is this really another Ibo Bashing thread? Forget the mental state of the thread starter for a second and consider the fact that many ibos claim that Nigerians have brushed under the carpet the “ibo” problem for over 40 years.

We have so many ibos on here who have been forcing Biafra down our throats by opening one thread after another about the group for the past couple of months, hoping to somehow intimidate the majority into thinking they have it all together. However, when engaged majority turn to attack mode, an use it as yet another avenue whereby they can play, yet again, the overused Victim card.

Sure, this is another thread addressing Ibos, but could it also be used for these Biafran ibos to better deal with this so called 40 year issue once and for all so we can all move on to better things, especially here on nairaland for good?
Re: Will Igbos Be Better Off Alone in Biafra Like Swaziland? by Nobody: 4:42am On Jul 19, 2009
Do we have to start over 5 threads a day to call the entire Ndigbo names all because some people came online to defend Biafra?

The floor is always open.
Re: Will Igbos Be Better Off Alone in Biafra Like Swaziland? by Kobojunkie: 4:46am On Jul 19, 2009
But the Biafrans Started most of all this themselves with over 5 threads at a time detailing how they believe their destiny was ruined by every other tribe out there. Do we need to pull up the archives for you to see what really happened here over the last 4 months? Let's be fair here. You do not see the Hausas rushing in here after all the threads blaming them for all the problems in Nigeria and call them all names from buck tooth imbeciles to the lowest, on here by some Ibos.

I have a question for y'all
if Igbos, Hausas, Yorubas, Ijaws ruled themselves as individual nations, do you think there'd be wide spread corruption and neglect of the masses?

very few Hausas have time for the internet. Besides, they dont need to complain about anything. The North has the best road networks in Nigeria, there's little or no police harrasment and brutality over there and they're guaranteed jobs/contracts on graduation.

Considering that even when individuals leave the shores of nigeria and move out to foreign lands, corruption seems to follow, I think it is highly likely that there will continue to be the problem of widespread corruption no matter how small we decided to slice and dice those people. Currently. at the local and state levels Ibos, Yorubas, Ijaws and others steal from their own flesh and blood. I am not sure how anyone would expect that practise to change considering one can say they already rule themselves now and that has yet to stop em.

The few Igbos calling the Hausas names are not even up to 10 on this forum, but you deem it fit to constantly throw the entire Ndigbo under the bus because of these few in the name of writing off Biafra.
How many times have you called other people from other tribes who constantly hull insults on the Hausas to order?

I have read through threads purposely created to hull insults on Ndigbo for nothing, in those threads, you never deemed it fit to call people from those tribes to order.
Anyways, I respect the fact that its your choice to respond to whichever topic or comment you like.

No!, however, Nigeria can still be a better country free of corruption if they wish to. Unfortunately, they dont for now.

I find that very hard to believe because your statement there sounded more like the myth that most in the south believe of those in the North, which I know is not true. Majority of those in the north live and die in poverty; The rich get richer while the poor next to no chances of every rising out of their miserable situation. The rich marry people in their class while the poor, without connections, live outside and get the worst of it all. If you are honest, you would admit that seems to be what happens in the south as well. So I am not sure how you arrived at the claim that the Hausas grow up to free rides and all.

Uummm . . . @ Nuzo, please get  your facts straight. I have made sure to specifically mention this all started with some and not all ibos, and mainly the biafrans. Not sure how you got to accusing me of throwing ibos under the bus or where that whole LIE comes from. Please, if you this is too much for you, just ignore my posts on here cause I am not today going to start being partial because of you or anything. If you are HONEST you will admit that this is not ONE SIDED. There has been the IBO side to this and now we seem to have the IJAW side as well as the YORUBA side to it. NO need to start CRYING FOUL now when it is just a result of what has been boiling on here for a while.

If you must make it tribal, then please MOVE ON TO BOTHER someone else with that. I have made myself clear on where I stand on these brawls. I will not stop posting on threads I want to because someone has tribal issues that he or she cannot control.

How many times have you called other people from other tribes who constantly hull insults on the Hausas to order?
I have not even called Yorubas or even Ibos to ORDER for hulling insults on others, However, when you play the Victim card, be sure I will call you out when I find you, on it. Considering the amount of back and forth by now, it ought to be fair game. Only that some still come in to play VICTIM right after attacking others on another thread or even the same thread. That makes absolutely no sense and is seriously childish, if you ask me. It is like watching some seriously spoilt brats fighting, the one hits the other, but when hit back, he cries that he is the victim. Abegi!!

I have read through threads purposely created to hull insults on Ndigbo for nothing, in those threads, you never deemed it fit to call people from those tribes to order.

Did you bother reading through my posts to figure out if my focus was on those who hurled insults or on those there to actually debate and I deemed intelligent enough to conversate with? Should I now engage any riff-raff/slowpoke/idiot on Nairaland who chooses to come online to insult others just so as to make you happy? Is that what I am here on nairaland to do? What are you going to ask me to do next? Read @Becomerich's posts and respond to 'em? I come here to please you?

Stop taking yourself too serious as I never bothered you in the first place. I just made a comment about the poster and the topic and you picked on that to educate me on why its normal to  constantly bash the Igbos at any given opportunity.

All am saying is that people should stop using Biafra as a means to attack and insult the Igbos. Cos I can still remember clearly how you and other people keep reminding nairalanders that Igbos do not support Biafra.

You played the VICTIM card, claiming this another Ibo Bashing thread, and I felt to remind you that some Ibos have also been guilty of starting up threads to bash folks of other tribes. Simple!!  If you think that is to say it is normal to bash ibos, then I ask if you would also believe it normal to bash yorubas and Hausas when other threads seem to do a lot of that on here.

Mind you, not all the bashers are Biafrans. I happen to have been shocked when about two known bashers admitted to not being Biafrans. Shocked the hell out of me!!!

Uuumm. . . . it is a FACT that NOT ALL IBOS support BIAFRA. I know this for a fact. I don’t know if it is the case that you expect ALL IBOS to be 100% for BIAFRA. Biafra is an idea that is linked to IBOS and I believe it is worth making it clear to all that NOT ALL IBOS SUPPORT THE BIAFRA dream. Some Ibos out there actually believe in accepting responsibility for part played in the mess called Nigeria and some actually wait for an opportunity to work to helping solve the problem, not with a BIAFRA. This is a fact.

The reason I feel to mention this over and over is because majority of the BIAFRANS on here tend to push the idea that ALL IBOS ARE 100% for BIAFRA, and this seems to be the main reason for why many of their opponents insult all ibos in return. I just feel to stop the dissemination of that lie so these people can go at each other and no one else.

have you lived in any part of Northern nigeria?
For security reasons, i'd would have posted my pictures with top government officials.
I schooled in the North and believe me, i got my first political contact in school. All the guys i knew in school either have jobs with various government parastatals or are contractors or are just living off the stolen loot of their parents

I was born there @Samparian. My mother was there just until biafra was started back in the 60's. We went back in the 70's. I still have friends from there, and friends in the forces who are posted up there. I schooled with some of the kids of the then governors. At the same time, I noticed how common hausas ( those with no political connections) seemed to live the way the rest of us did.

Not all northerners have connections to guarantee them jobs and what nots after graduation. You only need to walk through the markets in Kano to note this. There are many unemployed youths all over the place. People there suffer even more than many in teh south do. The whole "guaranteed job for all hausas" is nothing but a myth, the reality is completely different. Majority of those I used to know joined the forces right after graduation and many spend their lives in the forces. Those who have connections go on to guaranteed jobs but sorry, there is no way anyone can guarantee thousands of youths work, even in the north.

I have labored to put forward the definition of a Nation or Country on this forum according to Webster. I also alluded to the high degree of propensity among Africans to imitate Europeans. Why has the issue of caving up Africa into nations of similar ethnical and cultural identity not attracted to Africans?

It is no doubt that Europe is caved up into countries or nations according to ethnicity and culture of the people. Recent examples included the exit of USSR, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. Why should certain Nigerian peeps twisted out of human form on hearing that an ethnic group or organization is agitating for independent sovereignty out of the cesspit called Nigeria?

Can someone please inform me in no uncertain terms the reasons that formed instigation of continued nurturing of colonial contraption called Nigeria or the fear of its disintigartion?

Does this warrant a bonanza of insults on the entire Igbo generation?

And on the emboldened sentence; I have to tell you that its either you are lying or have been lied to by those who rope in all Igbos when the issue of Biafra comes up. They have constantly reminded the Biafran proponents that all Igbos dont support Biafra, they usually back it up by telling nlanders how many Igbo wives, cousins, grandfather and girlfriends they have. Now, after verifying for themselves that not all Igbos are in support of Biafra, why then will they have to go on bashing the entire Igbo nation if not for the fact that they have made up their mind regardless of their findings?

Ok. But I do have to say that some of us in the south have this warped idea of what life is for those in the north. I happen to have a friend here who is from Plateau state and he tells me of how absurd it is that people in the south believe people in the north live wonderful lives. We have had lengthy discussions of some of these misconceptions and how the politicians in the north also continue to rip their own people off, only most of them do it in the name of God.

Think of it this way for a second, if life for Hausa graduates was so good, don’t you think Hausa land would boast of more graduates considering you claim they are guaranteed jobs, which translate into money for paying bills and moving to better neighborhoods and all?

Also consider that the reason why there is little or no police harrassment could be because these people have been made to believe the police is law and so they tend to do all they can to avoid the police. speaking of police harrassment, was it not only some months ago that we heard the shariah police refused some female group protesting up somewhere in the north?

@Kobojunkie
I know that there is no "Nigeria" because when the opportunity to create a nation presented itself 43 years ago, the Yoruba combined with the Hausa to create a cesspit. Everyone has been in that cesspit ever since.  People are now beginning to challenge it and kobojunkie is peeing his pants. tongue
Solution? Balkanise that space into manageable bits and pieces! I know this presents a nightmare scenario (sorry Kobojunkie  grin) to the current lords of that cesspit, but too many innocent lives are being lost daily to prop up the crumbling mammoth.
Igbos  and their Eastern brothers were Biafrans! 2 million died to make that statement and we will never forget them! To know who is a Biafran today is easy. Anyone who hates stagnation, morbid corruption, myopic leadership, permanent national darkness, horrible roads, religious fanaticism, laziness and indolence, bloated national ego based on nothing ( Africa big brother), election rigging and selections, inept public officials, genocide and war crimes against locals and everything ascribable to bad leadership; anyone who hates these with every fiber of his being is a BIAFRAN.
I just found out that I am a BIAFRAN! And I happen to be Igbo.
Please let me out of this cesspit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find that very hard to believe because your statement there sounded more like the myth that most in the south believe of those in the North, which I know is not true.

This statement is inanely stupid and quite sufficient to start to question the taught process of the person that made it, what is the need of dabbling into an argument you don't having a deeper understanding of, there is no way you can accurately prove, or know if the guy lived in  the north or not, every thing to you is all about spewing nonsensical drivel fueled by an acute level of bigotry.

Majority of those in the north live and die in poverty; The rich get richer while the poor next to no chances of every rising out of their miserable situation. The rich marry people in their class while the poor, without connections, live outside and get the worst of it all.

I will continue to question your level of IQ, you are an idiot that talk a lot but seldom reason or rather don't reason at all, by every clear statistics, the northern region produce the Richest Nigerians followed by the western region and there is a correlation between this and the length of time the respective regions has ruled this country churning out contract billionaires, while the Eastern region produce the largest number of middle class and overall higher per capital income which has a direct correlation with had work and at the same time serves as a reward for the personal struggle of the people of the Eastern Nigeria. The fact that the people of Eastern Nigeria are so ubiquitous is an elementary prove of this. Now repeat after me :The overall people of Northern Nigeria are not poor because of lack of infrastructure but because of insufficient level of personal struggle and dependence on hand out{aka connections} from Nigerian government which unfortunately gets to only but few that becomes our celebrated billionaires.

without connections, live outside and get the worst of it all

whatever happened to hard work? your dependence on ''connections'' out of poverty shows whom we are dealing with here, and it explains why you are murderously ethnocentric and hyper sensitive to anything Igbo, because you can not compete in fairer society, so let us all join hands to bully the Igbos out existence.

If you are honest,

Honesty must mean a different thing to a troubled soul like you, you know what? I actually feel sorry for you some times.
