Emir Of Gusau Bans Eze-igbo Title by sizzlers(m): 12:36pm On Apr 01, 2010
fter about 12 years power tussle between the Eze of Gusau and the Igbo Community Association (ICA), Zamfara State chapter, the lingering crisis has been laid to rest as the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Danbaba announced the abolition of Eze title bestowed on Mr. Egbunna Obijiaku.

The Emir made this known while receiving the South-East Chairman of the Traditional Council of Chiefs, Cletus Ilomuanya, Obi of Obinugwu in his palace. Alhaji Danbaba told the visiting monarch that the title of Eze was bestowed on Obijiaku in good faith.

The Emir observed that since it was the decision of the South-East Traditional Council of Chiefs to abolish the title of Eze in diaspora, he had equally abolished the Eze title in his emirate. “I want to say that as from today and in the presence of your highness, I have abolished the title of Eze, I bestowed on Mr Egbunna.”

The Emir stressed that he hoped with the abolition of the Eze title in Gusau Emirate, both parties would embrace peace and work towards the development of the state. According to him, Igbo in his Emirate had contributed immensely to the development of the emirate, stressing that “we have been living together in peace.”
Speaking earlier, the visiting Chairman, South-East Council of Traditional Rulers, Illomuanya called on Nigerians to see themselves as their brothers’ keeper.

His Royal Highness IIIomuanya maintained that brotherhood is the key to development, “we should tolorate ourselves and remain as one all the time,” he advised.

Am not sayin such title should not be banned as it ridicules the authority of the mainstream Ibo Igwe's in south-east.buh wat authority has an emir in abolishing anythin.Afterall, they(traditional rulers) are mere cultural icons, leaders and effigies.

They hv no constituional powers.

What right has the emir to do that. NONSENSE.

it is in the interest of peace, if you ask me. if the Emir had not done what he did believe me, heads must roll. and talking of rights, remember it happened within the Emir's jurisdiction. finally i think he did well; people are given to making a mountain out of a mole hill. let the 'Ezes' get a job, and a life.

Nigeria is mainly made up of kingdoms, what the ffing right do they have to go to his Kingdom and be setting up their own monarchy/chieftancy?

Also, in this case, it appears he was the one that appointed, so it is within his rights to disappoint.
Re: Emir Of Gusau Bans Eze-igbo Title by chidichris(m): 4:19pm On Apr 01, 2010
some one mentioned right hence i ask, is the emir a constitutional title? if the answer is yes, it means he(the emir) is the head of that particular area and anyother authority has to come below his.
on the other hand, one of the major reasons for setting up kingdoms for these emirs is to help bring leadership to the rural ppl and help maintain law and order at the grass roots.
if a visitors actions will bring about disorder into any kingdom, i don't think the emir needs any constitutaional powers to delete the visitors.
these igbomen that have these crazy feelings for leadership shld come home and get themselves occupied with one rather than disturbing other peoples' peace for unknown madness for igweship.

If he's the Emir of his community he's the executive of culture in his territory, you retarded illegal immigrants.

the IGBO PPL specifically requested that the title be ban and he acknowledged the request and ban the title.

My Igbo brothas! Come back to our homeland instead of laying claim to another man's land. I normally do not support these nkita ara, but they are right about this issue.

this should be made nationwide, including all others like  OTUNBA, BAALE, IGWE, chief this and that etc the importance of these titles have been eroded long while ago.

if they aren't banned, the government should stop giving them salaries.

that ezeigbo outside igboland stuff is digustingly absurd.no eze can lay claim to leadership of entire igbos in any given area.maybe he should go to his village and displace the eze.
Re: Emir Of Gusau Bans Eze-igbo Title by oderemo(m): 9:01pm On Apr 01, 2010
if not that, people should stop given undue importance to all these low esteem ppl in our society. was on my way to abuja long time ago, stopped at kaba for refuelling.i witnessed  the local chief  in session.villagers were on their knees for hrs., cant even look at this guy face.all cos he is the local chief.
afterward i asked why all that, was told its the culture despite that this guy does Nada for them.
the chief i respect is the one that fight govt. for rural development  , schools, health centre, road repair, rural electrification albeit a national issue.etc.
Re: Emir Of Gusau Bans Eze-igbo Title by sjeezy8: 10:43pm On Apr 01, 2010
Igbo ezes of the SE asked for it to be banned outside of Igboland.

Though Oba of lagos allowed it for igbos in Lagos.
Igbo people must really love the North Zamrafa tho like the worse place to live in the north, the first state i think to ask for sharia.

What da fuk? In another man's territory? Common that's rather low.
Re: Emir Of Gusau Bans Eze-igbo Title by Nobody: 8:22am On Apr 02, 2010
conferring of any type of title should be banned entirely by the constitution. we should only have Emirs,Igwes and obas etc, of particular kingdoms, not individuals buying up useless titles to intimidate other people

Tell others to "Come back to our homeland " why you enjoy the riches of America.

I knew Ewu is trustfully selfish but this is a new low.
Other Ibo men making ends meet in other parts of Nigeria should return home to build Ewu's Utopian nation.
What stops Ewu from coming home to help build this homeland.,.,.,.abi you no be man?

There cannot be 2 kings in one kingdom. Eze and Emir cannot mix. I support the ban.

Do traditional leaders really have NO constitutional powers? None at all?
