My journey with Brazilian visa started January, I submitted online waited for invitation to submit hard copies till the program I wanted to attend passed. March, I reapplied with another event, this time I submitted immediately without waiting for invitation. May, immediately the event passed, I received mail from them that I should get invitation letter from the Organiniser of another event I want to attend in Brazil. I told them that I don't have any other event but will like to take vacation. I reapplied June And was invited for physical interview on July that was when my status turn to review. During the interview I was asked to provide some documents. I sent through mail but no response. I now decided to open another application.
Do you know that after I submitted hard copies my status went back to sent since July till date.

It could be because loads of people are seeking asylum immediately after getting into the country which is taking a toll on their system.
The recent ugly news about what is happening at the Sao Paulo airports could be a serious variable to explain the current impasse.

Already Turkish and Qatar airlines have established a hidden embargo on passengers coming from Sub-Saharan Africa to Sao Paulo

Thank you
But when the funds are already invested

Let’s say my uncle wants to invest for 6 months After 6 months, Liquidating his funds and withdrawing his capital and interests won’t be an issue right ? There won’t be any stories or problems
No, he will only be charged 20% of his earned interests if he decides to withdraw before 30 days. after 30 days, no issues. the only downside is that he may be limited to withdrawing 5 million per day (not so sure)

Please hope this investment is safe and this old man won’t lose his money
Hope transferring such amount of money to Stanbic IBTC mutual fund account is safe

Please sorry for all the questions, I promised to help him gather all required info. And the man is so skeptical. He doesn’t want to lose his money, he will rather just buy a house as he feels the property will appreciate over the years
The best way to ensure transparency and safety, given the amount of funds involved is that after he has signed up for his account and received his Reference number, he should ho directly to his GTBank branch with the reference number and initiate a funds transfer directly from his branch to the Account that Stanbic will provide for him. this way is rest assured

he lived abroad (USA) for 25 years and worked for the government

He recently just retired and returned home with his life savings, retirement benefits etc Now that he is old, he wants to live and grow old in Nigeria. He wanted to buy a house here in Nigeria with the money, but I advised him to do an investment first to earn something from this amount of capital.

Please if there is any investment better than Stanbic money market, please advise me

at current rates, he earns 4,406,250 naira per month.

Thank you very much

That means he has to open an account with Stanbic ? Because the funds are currently domiciled in GTBank

Can he move the funds to the Stanbic money market account at once

Please advise. Because this man is an elderly man in his late 60s and is not so tech savvy

No, he does not need to open a StanbicIBTC Account. All he needs to do is sign up using the stanbicIBTC website, he should have his BVN and means of identification handy. after he has submitted his details on stanbic website, they will reach out to him in about 2 business days with his reference number and then he will put the reference number in the transfer narration when he is transferring his money from his GTBank to the Stanbic IBTC mutual funds account so that the Stanbic team can track that the money is attached to the account bearing the reference number.

Hey guys

I contacted GT Fund Managers about investment, the gave me forms to fill and account to deposit my investment amount.

What that made me surprised is the fact that the account was a Stanbic IBTC account

Why would GTBank Fund managers be using an account with Stanbic IBTC ?

Does this mean the fund I’m investing with them is going to be re-invested by them into Stanbic Money Market Investment ?? This is weird

It is normal. All mutual funds select another bank to act as the funds custodian to minimize misuse of investor funds. For example, I use StanbicIBTC, But I make my deposits to a UBA account

It will not be too long countries will start banning Indians. Come to UK, they have taken over care jobs, warehouse, driving and other sectors. In 20yrs to come, if nothing is done I guarantee you Indians might take over UK.

Indians knows how to dominate. Is because of them mostly UK ban care and students dependents. One person will be coming, he or she will carry the entire family. FG need to look into this asap.
Please explain to me how what you just said is different from what the Yorubas in Lagos are telling our Igbos. Or are Igbos not bring their families to Lagos. Let us put aside that we are all Nigerians, and Lagos was once a capital city. But the same can also be said about the relationship of UK and Commonwealth countries.
If they are dominating, adapt and be like them.

You are largely right.

But,

Icheku, Velvet tamarind (Dialium cochinchinense) is from trees in the rainforest region. not a Northern Tree. it grows in my village in Enugu in abundance.

Eggplant is also not a crop with Northern Origins.

How does what happens in the stock market affect mutual funds? Assuming we have a financial catastrophe like that of 2008, how will it affect mutual funds?

Not a good outlook if you ask me, they will now scrutinize every female or pregnant female trying to travel to Brazil. Birthing onboard a flight is big risk, what if she needed emergency surgery or other kind of care not available onboard that flight and which could put her life at risk. Nigerians should learn to do the right thing at the right time.
This could potentially block this pathway for others.
Spot on. there are things people do and they do know that they blocking the chances of people coming after them, but they still go ahead and do it. not nice

In the East, 4 flats instead of detached twin duplex will be more money if you are considering rental.

Mutual fund might return up to 7-10% annually.
Let’s do the calculation with $100k (#155M). Foreign mutual fund ( in dollars) is better to avoid devaluation of naira.

10% of #155M is #15 less tax #12M

Rent for 4 flats in developing area in Enugu or Owerri is an average of #700k yearly x 4 = .#2.8M

Land is not predictable. But averagely you must hold it up to 2 to 3 years to see significant return of about 30 -50 percent.

In every investment, there is always the risk of loss of money.

In other words Mutual funds is the most likely option

A quick question builders.

Build a twin detached duplex in Nigeria for rent (southeast) or use the money to purchase more lands or hold the money in a mutual fund while determining the economic and security situation of the country.

The funds for the building comes in monthly trickles

Good morning my Nairaland people,

So I have an issue, it’s kinda unrelated to this thread but I believe I’ll get assistance here

After staying 2 years in an apartment, my rent expired exactly August 1st, 2024 and after expiry landlord reached out for his money and I politely told him I’ll be moving out and I need some time to secure a new place before parking my load out of his house, he then asked for how much time, I told him maximum by middle of September (next month) I should have gotten a new space. This man then told him I’ll have to pay him for 2 months that is august and September and I’m like how possible? I just told you I need some time to move my loads and you are asking me to pay? Okay I didn’t want to argue so I should stopped the conversation and left politely.

So my question now is, what should I do in this case? Please bear in mind that when I got this apartment, he collected legal fees and I was never given any agreement form to sign.

I honestly don’t want to pay him any dime. What can I do? How best can I approach this.

Thanks, I look forward to reading from you all.

Regards.

Be advised that if the Landlord demands for times 10 of the normal house rent within the dates after August 1st, he is well within his rights to make that demand. The agreement you made terminated on August 1st, whether he gave you the signed agreement or not.

If a tenant wishes to leave an apartment, the law stipulates that you tell your landlord in advance (I am no longer sure whether it is 2 or 3 months in advance). I fail to understand how you an adult will not let him know that you are leaving his house so that he will have time to put up the apartment up for checking by other potential tenant. As it stands, you have clearly devastated his financial projections.

Let us normalize putting ourselves in others shoes, and reasoning whether our actions is fair or not. You need to pay him rent for the extra months you are going to be staying immediately, before he wizens up and tell you that the rent from August is in multiples of the current rent. Do not be a trouble maker.
