They are building roads because that is the only way they can conceal their stealing, by inflating the value of construction contracts.
They won't spend money on projects where they can't steal money.
Constructing Roads, Bridges, flyovers or overhead bridges, Airports, Parks etc is the only way they can fulfil their aims for which they sought the public office; EMBEZZLEMENT.
The former governor Aregbesola used the bailout money given to him in Osun State to build Moshood Abiola Airport around Ede. The whole project is bush today.
The current Osun governor has also started building roads and bridges.
It was in the news yesterday how he awarded over 11 billion naira construction project to a company that is not registered with the CAC.

89green:
Is this supposed to be news?
These are basic things similar roads should have, omo ds country sef.
They keep building roads year in year out instead concentrating on other stuffs like improving medical care, education and electricity, chai.
Oga let them divert to other stuffs as well, every governor is always building roads and abandoning other major aspects that also affect the lives of the masses.

If its the way they are building roads is same way they make education, electricity, health better, things go don better tay tay

Rich4god:
My problem with emefiele is not that money is missing. My problem with him is that as a southerner, why did he allow himself to be used by the cabal whom are mostly northerners to milk this country dry. As a CBN gov, he aided the last administration in milking this country and it's part of the reason our currency is crumbling cos there is no fund to maintain it. He should have stood his ground against the cabal. Now they all left him to bear the consequences alone.

If justice were to be served, all the top officials in the last administration, including the president should be in jail and the looted funds recovered from them.
Do you blame the ig of police when you get harassed by a police officer?
You focus on the person you have business with.
Emefiele is a member of the cabal. Nobody made him do anything.
He was part of the ruling elite.
When Dasuki was arrested and put in the dungeon, GEJ and others were not detained with him.
Being sentimental makes you sound very stupid.

Optimize Your Schedule: Identify peak times when demand is high, such as during rush hours, weekends, or special events. Focus your driving efforts during these times to maximize your earnings.
Target major events going on in your areas like music jams, church services, conventions etc

Choose Strategic Locations: Position yourself in areas with high demand, such as busy urban centers, airports, motor parks, or Big churches like Ibiyomes church. Monitoring Bolt's app for real-time demand can help you make informed decisions about where to drive.

well joe biden cleared up student loans maybe you need to read legit news sources to be more informed. Canada also did it.
You made a good point, but you are not exactly right.
Joe Biden didn't clear debts for people borrowing from banks and loan apps.
It was debt forgiveness for some people who took student loans from the US federal government.
The loans were paused since 2019 following covid. The only category of people that benefitted were the Teachers and Social workers.
In June 2023, the US Supreme Court stopped Joe Biden from offering further student loan forgiveness because he doesn't have power to do so.
I don't understand why anyone would expect the government to help them pay personal loans.
Student loans in the US are payable up to 5% of their discretionary income.
Thanks for your intelligent contribution to nairaland. Most people here are idiots.

What has being agbero got to do with what is being discussed here? How would you know if I was one of your secondary school teachers?
I haven't stepped on the shore of Nigeria in the past two years, and I have been working and living in Europe for over twenty.

Special court need to be created for armed robbers, kidnappers, bandits and bokoharam and their case should not last more than 3 months in court if they are found guilty they should be killed infront of their family house live on tv
The problem with that is the possibility of wrongful conviction. The Nigerian police will arrest innocent people and parade them as kidnappers.
Maybe death sentence may be signed after the case has gone to the Supreme Court and the accused is provided with legal representation.
Even in the USA people spent more than 48 years in prison for rape they didn't commit. Imagine what would happen in Naija.

Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is a strong believer of our principle in Nigeria: where man dey work, na for there him dey shop. The only problem is that he has been caught in the act.

But then, the minister has a good plan for his ministry. The reforms are commendable and the milestone achieved so far will collapse if he is sacked. For this, he needs to stay and finish what he started because he's doing a great job in his ministry.

This same mindset of yours has kept our country and continent from progressing like the rest of the world.
Tunji Ojo would have turned in his resignation if he were to be a minister in the United Kingdom.
We keep promoting the people who should be in prisons into positions of power in Nigeria.
The man broke the law. Simple, and he should face the consequences.

Career / Re: Is This True About Salaries In The UK. by pedel: 2:32pm On Dec 18, 2023
PAYE and Corporations tax are not the same.
Your employer deducts taxes from your PAYE earnings.
You pay taxes on your company earnings after you deduct all your expenses.
You do not have control over your deductibles if you are working for someone and earning salaries.

InvertedHammer:

/
Taxation is not straightforward like that. While they tax, it is up to individual taxpayers to channel their funds or expenses in tax deductible ways to come out ahead. The way someone earning £125k moves with his money may make him pay less taxes overall than someone earning £51k. I am assuming UK tax system is similar to US tax system.
Generally if a bulk of the salary is coming from overtime work, the employee is screwed.

You are right and that doesn’t mean I am wrong.
My cars are own by the company I fully own.
All my fuel and car repairs are done from the company account.
Most of my clothing are work clothes.
This is the game the rich people play.
My trips to Nigeria are all business trips (not holidays).
They are all paid for from my company account.
That’s how the rich write off expenses from their taxes.
Grant Cardone wrote off his Gulfstream jet against his tax. You can Google it.
I used footballers as example because that’s what an average Nigerian can relate with.
Atiku paid less than N5m as tax according to his tax clearance certificate prior to the election.
Personal finance should be a mandatory course in Nigeria for secondary school students.
Reading Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad would have made this post unnecessary.
You are not an average Nigerian and it’s pleasure interacting with you.

VULCAN:
You did well till you got to the last two sentences.

A luxury car is not tax exempt for an employee.

The footballers apply tax avoidance by incorporating themselves as a business and paying themselves as an individual
a reasonable salary which is the only part of their earnings that is heavily taxed.

The rest is bought under their corporation which pays corporate tax after most of their frivolous expenses have been written off.

How did MNK found himself in this situation?
That should be your concern.
They didn’t raid his home or kidnapped him from Kenya for no reason.
Don’t you think he brought the problem on himself?
Many people, especially Igbos, have died as a result of the orders he gave through his broadcasts.
Those family deserve justice too.
I know that many of MNK’s apologists are emotional; they lack logical thinking. I hope you are not one of them.

Career / Re: Is This True About Salaries In The UK. by pedel: 8:01pm On Dec 14, 2023
False information.
You pay 0% tax on the first £12,570. 20% basic rate tax on the part of your income which falls into the next tax bracket (£12,571 up to £50,270). This means you'll pay 20% tax on £37,700.
Anything you earn above £50,271 to £125,140, is taxed at 40%.
Your income over £125,140, is taxed at 45%.
That's why you see those footballers with fleets of expensive cars. That is where they put all their earnings to avoid paying big taxes.

The company is going to file for bankruptcy within few days.
Some powerful Nigerians are behind the company, because some people brought them to Nigeria to defraud the country in the first place.

Majority of Nigerians depend on these quack doctors and nurses.
Even the investigating police officers visit the road side nurses and doctors to get treatment.
Our society depends on these half baked medical professionals to offer medical treatments to a large chunk of our population.
More than 50% of people reading this post have used these untrained medical experts in the past year.
I am not saying it’s normal for a country to depend on untrained medical professionals, but that’s the reality we have to deal with.
The same way we hire night guards to protect our housing estates in the night while we have Nigeria police whose only job is to protect and serve.
I pray that the nurse who treated mohbad get justice, unless she is the one who killed him.

Jaybuoy:
That nurse's life has changed forever, irrespective of whether her actions were the cause of death or not.

This is one of the reasons I've always been against "learning" nursing and midwifery from a hospital, instead of going to an accredited school.

There you must pass professional board exams and be certified before you inject someone.

It's a lesson to everyone, don't let anyone just inject you in the name of being a "Nurse".

And most importantly, make our eye nor see bad thing.
