The right question to ask is what are we exporting? Presently, we can’t even refine our own oil. We are spending billions of dollars daily to subsidise importation of different things. Between 1972 and now, USA has produced many multi trillion dollar companies in several sectors that are earning them money. Let’s talk about the recent ones like SpaceX, Tesla, Facebook, Amazon etc. What have we done in Nigeria? We are talking about Boko Haram for over ten years now, herdsmen, kidnapping, ipob, Yoruba nation etc. Nigeria naira was stronger than usd in 1972 because we had visionary leadership in those days.
Plmabu: The Day Nigeria Naira trade 1/1 US Dollar What changed ?
Wait till they get to the court. They will probably take him back but he will spend extra years on campus. Nigeria is not an ideal country. The lady who exposed the OAU lecturer is yet to graduate despite the Vice President's intervention. The guy should have thought about his actions before writing stupid posts. I wont be surprised if he is one of those urchins that turned Nairaland to ethno-religious battle ground.
Geeman2006: Well-written response! This Lawyer knows his onions. but Nigeria will be Nigeria! Hope the student gets re-instated.
The guy was trying to shame the governor and the dirty politican fought back. When did Facebook post became an official means of communication with a public office holder? Even if he win in court they are going to make sure he spend 10 years in that university. Nigeria is not an ideal society and children should start realizing that. It happened to a guy like that in OAU Ife in the early 90s. He became the longest living resident in Awo Hall. I employed a lady about 4 years ago. She had Masters degree from Unilag. I asked for her social media handles and we went through all her posts to see what kind of person she was online. Even Daddy freeze confirmed that people stopped giving him business when he started attacking Pastor Paul Adefarasin on social media. Whatever you do online can come back to hunt you, including how you insult me for this opinion of mine.
Would you have resigned? Did Goodluck Jonathan resigned or the power was wrestled from him? The old politicians won’t relinquish power to the youth. It’s not done anywhere. If you want the power join politics and fight for it.
Don't be surprised that the people behind such primitive idea already attends a Pentecostal church. Gospel messages died in Nigeria in the early 90s when the word of faith and charismatics came. Most people pastoring churches today never heard the true gospel.
Jashub: This is one of the reasons why the gospel of Jesus needs to spread quickly. How can people be this fetish in belief...? Chai!
I am certain I am old enough to be your father. Only a child born after the year 2000 writes and make assumptions the way you did. The person killed is my uncle and we are yet to get his body. You don't have to be insensitive. You don't have to comment on every post.
officialmario: where did you get your own story from? this is not the main cause of the ife/modakeke crisis, you don knw the real story of how it all started, if you are a true indigene of ife or modakeke, go and consult your elders, they will give you more clue.
Read the post I replied to. Someone else brought Yoruba nation into it.
ShadowCracker: Bro what concerns Yoruba nation with Ife-Modakeke crisis. I don't understated how this correlate with Yoruba self-determination struggle.
It's a waste of time reasoning with cretins like you. I just told you I lost an uncle 4 days ago which is why the crisis started. Can you dispute the fact that people were killed in the past few days? Can you dispute the fact that there were gun shots being fired around oke eso over night today? While there is an ongoing peace talk would you suggest your family members go attend a party around the boundries today?
jneutron4000: [s][/s]keep quiet and stop spreading falsehood. I posted a video done last night by both men from Ife and Modakeke and you are blabbing. The right thing to do is to de escalate and stop building up tension you Fooolll.
My uncle was killed in Toro farm four days ago. We are still unable to retrieve his corpse. You can shove your Yoruba nation up my arse. This post was to warn people to restrict their movement. I am not sure if you were born in 1980, 83 or 1997 when the war started. War doesn't discriminate. If you can't warn people to stay save you should keep your data to watch YouTube videos.
jneutron4000: [/s]Nothing like that, it is the plan of the enemy because of the growing agitation for Yoruba Nation but wise people from both Ife and Modakeke has stepped in to calm the situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOqqThqsxjY
Modakeke-Ife crisis unraveling again. Don't make unnecessary journey to Ife or Modakeke today. Some Ife farmers were killed in Toro and Oyere farm four days ago. There was gun shots at Oke Eso and other boundaries last night. Please let pray for peace and adjust your movements.
IFE - MODAKEKE CRISIS - CAUTIONING WORDS TO WAR-MONGERS
If news filtering on Ife Modakeke crisis in the last few hours is anything to go by, then it should be assumed that 90% of uprising fire will be fanned by fake news and unverified claims..
Let me say this, that 1997 is now far different from 2021, everything has gone digital that nothing is hidden anymore with mobile phones and internet, so no true Account will be doctored except what it is. You will see the actual and see the unreal being passed around by war mongers, but we will always put things in real perspective.
We will not allow any fake news to spread fire and we will do everything to forestall looming crisis in the best interest of all and sundry, especially for the non indigenes from all walks of life, who are mostly inhabitants on Ife land doing businesses and working here.
Findings show that some people heard some invisible Ife were coming at an area called Alaro in Modakeke, and they took guns to streets and started running here and there in the night, filming and shouting "Ogun ti de ooo" only to find no Ife coming from anywhere.
Ditto for places like Ondo road in Ife, where some Ife vigilantes were reportedly shooting guns in the air in the area to tell anyone coming that they are fully alert, all because they heard Modakeke were coming. And all of these are drawbacks of social media and skirmishes of news caused by some people's Business rivalry on farms week ago where a woman reported to be a farmers' loans giver with many debts to be recovered, was claimed to have been killed..
In the end, Modakekes were claiming the Ife killed the woman, and the Ife claimed Modakeke did. Yet, the truth of the sinister act lies somewhere around Business deal that went wrong in the village.
Well I'm glad that the two Communities are not interested in war any longer, except those who are agbotikuyos and profiteers from crisis.
I belong to special Ife and Modakeke WhatsApp groups as a spy "ti n fimu file" and I can tell you no one wants to hear the smell of war. Everyone is saying Not again, it doesn't pay anyone. Bulk of those that are getting paranoid, impatience and asking around social media are people outside the two towns and those sleeping but are hearing gun and assumed it has happened again. And it's understandable.
There are salient issues ofcourse, particularly on farm being occupied wrongly, but the recent issue at Alapata and Toro had nothing to do with this.
1997 long war left some scars and ruins to many families that are into farming, especially to Ife ancients family farmlands on those axis but some of us have moved on..
Some people have become millionaires by starting all over at Ife forest reserves, a reason why we will continue to tell Osun Government to leave that gifted land at Shaha -Ijebu boundary for the Ifes which was given out to Government years back, for continued peace so that no one will be interested to go back and be dragging farm with Modakeke at those places like Agbeke, Alapata, Toro etc.. God can bless cultivated virgin lands too.
We can always grow new areas and get over this. War doesn't pay anyone. The experience of the past has shown that war doesn't solve it. It doesn't. The scars are everywhere.
Before you share any news on any crisis or report, be sure of what you are passing around and be ready to defend it. People's Business and shading dealings should be what it is and should not wear a tribal colouration or religion garment.
In the last 20yrs, Ife and Modakeke people have been so integrated that the bike man you will flank down on Ife street to take you to the palace or your house at Alakowe may most likely a Modakeke man. Too many Modakeke youths are riding bikes in Ife just like we have many from all over the state. Ife is the biggest hub for commercial motorcycle transportation in Osun State.
Similarly, or in the same vein, it is more likely that you will see an Ife woman at Modakeke market buying cows for Burial or food ingredients. A lot of our people in Ife go to modakeke to buy food items - they claim food are cheaper there than Ife, so you will think of economic loss that the scars of over 20yrs will bring.
I grew up in the war of 97, I saw it all and I often wish Modakeke should be taken away from Ife land or surrounding so that we will not have someone who we will always look into each others eyes, but I have since grown to see Modakekes as the other part of Ife that will be there for ever, because the community had come so long with History with Ife and very old than many towns in Osun today, hence we call them Isale Ife.
There is a reason why fate has brought us together and we can continue to see it like that while everyone maintains their lane and status.
I'm also glad that local security leaders in both towns are dispelling and quelling the news already with the good efforts of Ooni of Ife, the the grand father of entire Ife land and Modakeke elders. I'm equally happy that Osun Government is not sleeping.
For the Ifes, I want us to see Modakekes as our wives that can not be pushed away, and so for whatever reason, we should be able to sit together and discuss differences while not failing to fish out the evil ones among us on both sides because only truth can bring peace and prosperity to the entire Ife land. To modakekes, I enjoin you to join hands to help bring development to Ifeland because the comfort of the trees is the comfort of the birds. If the rope is not resting, the standing fowl on it will not rest too ooo.
War is not rice and beans ooo. Let's stop spreading nonsense in news and avoid adding petrol to fire. Enu mi ago!
Your man of God only twist the scripture to suit his narrative. The only people that came out of Egypt were the Israelites. Stop putting yourself inside the Bible. You were never in Egypt. Your Papa is the number one false teacher in Nigeria. I followed his religious ideology for more than 20 years. Go find an orthodox/ protestant church and get saved by hearing the true gospel of salvation. The word of faith theology which your papa emphasize is a false and cultic theology.
spinna: I didnt say it God said it.. all the glory of the past 40yrs will be considered bondage in relation to the post 40yr era. Thats what God said through his servant. Not literal bondage..just a metaphor to emphasise the impact of this week
Evolutionary Psychology 101. Female will always go for stronger mate that can offer protection and meet their needs. Our evolution hasn’t changed that.
seanwilliam: @ op all girls are the same. No matter how real her love is. Women are hypergamous in nature, she will always leave you for someone better except she doesn’t see the option. I don’t take women’s love serious
The guy never lived in Ireland. He just typed rubbish. The guy was killed at the back of my house. I live in Dublin 15. Ireland is the most liberal country in Europe, period. I have trained children through University in Ireland and they are the best in their classes. This dead boy punched the manager at Eurospar at Hartstown and robbed the AnPost with knife. The Gardai went to arrest him and he resisted arrest. He wielded knife at the Gardai so they called the Armed Respons unit. He was shot because he won’t drop the weapon (knife).
6digitscomrade: i completely disagree with you!!! Stop misleading the public please please!!!infact Ireland is the most liberal in Europe after any other country u can mention obviously I don’t know which country but I have visited 23countries and I speak , read and write in 3 foreign languages excluding English..ironically I reside in Ireland..everything you wrote appears vindictive to me I’m not saying we don’t have racists but for Pete sake Ireland is heaven compared to the rest of Europe.. anyway people can google and research themselves before u hoodwinked them with your fallacies..
Don’t mind the idiot. He never lived in Dublin. The guy was shot at the back of my house. He was mentally unstable. He went to the shop to buy things and he attacked the store manager. The store called the police and the police traced him to his house in Manorfield. The police that went to arrest him didn’t carry any weapons. He resisted arrest and brought out knife. The police called the Armed Response Unit. They came and he attempted to attack them with knife and he was shot. It’s against the law to carry a deadly weapon here in Ireland. I am not saying it was ok for him to be killed, but knife is considered a weapon here.
OLULAW: Typical illiterate. No wonder life was tough for you in Dublin. Imagine you couldn’t express yourself in simplest terms and yet you want to be educated at Trinity College with those with excellent educational background. Go back you your fucking hell hole and urinate wherever you like. Do you have credit facilities for deferred payment in Nigeria? Ijebus are normally smart but you don’t sound like a smart person to me.
Odewaleadesoye: There are many things people don't understand about living in abroad. People think life is rosy over there. No, it's not. Let me tell you some few things with my little knowledge of stay at Dublin, Ireland.
1. You won't be able to attend the same school with the oyinbos.
2. Your credit score will always drop sha.
3. Government will give you a special apartment meant for the black and this will reduce your credit score.
4. You can't buy things even if you're extremely rich.. You must build your credit score.
5. I guess you can't withstand the abscond and bullying. They will torment your life as hell. Nigeria government can't help out on this issue. It has been like that and it will always be.
6. The place is damn quite.
7. Here in Nigeria, you can piss anywhere but try that in Dublin, you're a gonna.
My fellow Nigerians, honestly, you can make wave and ways in this country with the little that you have. Don't stress yourself absconding to abroad.
I'm talking from experience.
Well, to George Nkencho, may his soul rest in peace. God will comfort his family.
Let me also use this opportunity to wish everyone here happy new year.
2021 is going to be our year of divine breakthrough and unlimted blessings. We shall recover all things we lost in many folds.
You seems to be the one getting confused. My response was not about the protest, rather is was about you saying the person attacking Sam Adeyemi legally are going to die. I made it clear that nobody is going to die because the took a man of God to court. In Africa, we make men of God look like the are untouchable and that anyone who attack them will die either spiritually or physically. I stated that the only thing that will die is the court case itself.
You quoted me wrongly. I am not against the protest. I am in support of the people who protested. I am just saying God will not kill the person who pressed the charges simply because the person involved in the suit is a pastor. African Christians believe that you can’t sue or have issues with a man of God and stay alive.
Kaylet: He's first a Nigerian before any title comes in. So he has right to protest either directly or indirectly.
And you honestly believe this? Please don’t be brainwashed. Nobody, except the court case, is going to die. God is not going to kill anyone because he sued a man of God to court. Please grow up Naija Christians.
saaphiere: The guy is dead spiritually. Never fight a man of God.
Sorry but things don't work like that. Governments don't share money. Maybe you should talk to a rich relative if you need someone to give you 1 million naira. Have you ever paid any taxes in your life?
ify2016: Nigeria Youths population are not up to 180 million. But a government staff or politician would confidently siphone billions of public asset and fund for personal gain. Now, we are hearing that hoodlums have damaged properties worth billions of naira. What stop the government from giving out 1 million naira to each youth to start up one business or the other. The other day one graduate was begging me that he never ate anything since morning and I had to assist him in my own little way. The truth is that if government or Buhari want to truly help the Youths, age bracket between 13 years to 60 years should be given 1 million each to invest in any idea of their choice. If they can engage the youths financially and otherwise, things we get better.
Imagine yourself, your siblings, and your children being wiped out because of something someone in your family did. I am very sure that you are a product of one of these new generation churches in Nigeria and your pastor or General Overseer must have been in the news for the wrong reasons recently. Please change your mindset. You are reasoning like a Boko Haram member.
pwansunriseteam: Who ever that did this evil to this Lady may his entire generation wipe out. They will all die a shameful death, infact even vulture will reject their corpse. My heart js filled with sorrow How can Citizens be dying in the hand of people who are supposed to protect them.
United States is indebted to China to the tune of over $1.1 trillion. Is China colonising the Americans too? The Chinese banks are the highest mortgage lender to the EU. Are they going to colonise the EU? It’s ok to burrow money to do business or build money making infrastructure. We should only worry if the contracts are being inflated or some people diverting the money.
Awol1: Amaechi is doing well with the train revolution he's engineering.
But I have reservation for the loans they are taking.
It's drawing us closer to Chinese recolonization because i doubt we can repay those loans without faltering.
After almost 20 years in Europe I can tell you, you should stop sending money home. Safe every single cent or penny you get. Ignore any number calling from Nigeria for 5 years. You will come back to thank me. By the way, only ready few lines from your article and I know you are being pushed into depression. There are people I sponsor in university, there are people I helped travel abroad, there are people I sent vehicles to who are no longer talking to me. Don’t let them ruin your life. Learn from President Buhari who doesn’t talk to Nigerians. Just ignore everyone and focus on what you plan to do. God be with you.
God's kingdom has nothing to do with a physical evidence of a failed state. Those guys could have been lawyers, bank staff or electricians in a functioning country. Go to other countries that are considered failed states, you will see young people carrying AK47 and committing crimes. For more than 10 years I haven't locked my backyard door because nobody is coming to rob the house for anything. That is not possible in Nigeria. Remember, Jesus said the kingdom of God is within you. Instead of being religious about what's happening in your country ask yourself if this is an isolated incident or it's a worldwide problem. You need good governance, not some kingdom to come.
chatinent: Many reasons we should all pray for GOD's kingdom to come. This world don kolo.
The conspiracy theorist have started again. Let me help you; no need to task your brain. The man in the picture is not PMB. His name is Saliu AlSerif from Bamako, Mali. He went to visit his family in Mali with Nigerian Airforce jet yesterday instead of attending the burial of the First female combat helicopter pilot. The man in Aso Rock is not PMB, he is a double from Mali. Na our ‘dilector’ talk am.
That's a very myopic view. You need to stop watching nollywood movies. Start reading foreign journals and materials like Forbes, Fortune, New York Times, HBR etc. You can read many of these materials for free online. If you keep this line of thought, you will never go beyond being average in life. You can be very wealthy without being a criminal. "Learn how to do well" Isaiah 1:17
englishmart: There's absolutely no billionaire that's not into one crime or the other.
Someone lied I slept with his girlfriend. I didn't bother contesting it because I knew I didn't do it. I only did it once
