This morning I received from Niger “ hi you lost your phone redmi note 7 and i found it i'm in niger “. I was surprised when I saw the message. Though I couldn’t remember the precise date they stole this Redmi Xiaomi in my room at night, when I woke up I couldn’t find my phone again, I try to call it but it was switched off. Then I realized my phone has been stolen.

I went to Ikorodu police station to report the case, the outrageous amount they charged, made me decision to leave the phone. Instead of paying 40k to track the phone which I have no grantee of getting back.

I went back home very sad. As I was thinking about the stolen phone, my friend came to check me, then I collected his phone and log in to my mi account. I locked everything lockable from the mi account.

Since the year 2020 I didn’t hear anything until this morning, apparently I have even forget the phone cus I got a big phone after waiting 5 months. I was so surprised when the guy chat me and also send me the phone picture. The reason why I post this is that if you’re using Redmi xiaomi phone always make sure you activate the mi account. D thing secured die, they flashed it and the phone is still locked.

Now the Niger guy is begging me to give him the code? Should I give him or tell him to return to the seller?

Good morning to you bro.
I am just seeing this post of yours. I really need your guide to handle mine.

May I ask if I can still lock my Xiaomi Redmi phone after it was stolen almost two weeks now

Same thing I did to mine that was robbed at a gun point Dec 2020.

Pointing gun at me, I willingly gave the arm robber and they zoomed off in their car. They robbed so many persons that day, just before Christmas day.

Till date, the phone is still locked. I even composed a message that the phone was stolen and included a number to reach if it lands in anyone hands. Any time the phone is switched on, that message will display on the screen.

They can't unlock it. Cuz I locked it through redmi iCloud.

In fact, that phone is useless without me unlocking it.

Good morning bro.

Kindly help me on how i can lock my Redmi note 8 pro too. I have the Ime numbers.

It is barely two weeks it was stolen.

Thanks so much

Don’t think you are being a ‘good guy’ by giving him the unlock code, you will be encouraging robbery. It is either he sends the phone to you or return it to where he bought it. People steal phones because there’s an easy market for them and we must do all we can to discourage such.

A lot of people have lost their lives because robbers wanted their phones. Doesn’t matter if you’ve moved on or not; please don’t give out that code!

This is the position of this house, and it's final.

I'm surprised no one here realized it's most likely the same person who stole the phone that's trying to trick the owner to give him the code on top after trying for about two years to unlock it with no luck.

what then is the essence of the security if I have to give out the code to whoever steals it?
There's nothing like helping here, his phone was stolen and the security he put on it has made it useless. That was the whole point of putting it.
Like if it was a car and the thief couldn't drive it, he should send the code because he's gotten another car?

The Nigerien guy should return the phone to whoever sold it to him and ask for a refund or return it to the original owner. These kind things no suppose carry sentiments come.

It's up to the op to decide, me no go do am and thats my point.

The guy requesting the code was not the one that stole the phone.

He was only guilty of buying a stolen product that could have landed him in jail.

Lol. OP don't lose guard like I did. Do not send him any code, and if he sends any link to login your mi account details, DO NOT click on any such links.

I've been there and I still feel stupid even till this day!

I still have the thief's number (foreign number) and our chat on WhatsApp (he contacted me same way).

Do register the Mi account on the phone b4 it got stolen. If yes, used another person phone to log in to the mi account website with your email and password, launch your account pages. You will see different options there such as lock, track, erase data and many more. Select LOCK and your phone will be locked. If the phone is switched off or your sim has been removed from your phone. You won’t be able to tracked your phone. Anytime or any day the phone is connected to network. It will locked by itself. Google will explain better.

Yes. Phones such as huawei, oppo, xiaomi, apple (iphone) and oneplus has a powerful cloud. That was why they difficult to hack.

When you bought the phone, did you create your Xiaomi redmi icloud account and link the phone to it?

You can only track and lock your phone if only you registered/linked the phone to your redmi cloud account.

You simply login your cloud account with another phone and lock it.

Without that you can't.

@op olabodmit listen to what he is saying. Don't encourage robbers, so the essence of the lock you placed on it is just to have a friendly chat with the robber right? Let's assume you have been killed in the process or they disfigured in the process, you will still give him the code right? Tell the thief to bring the phone to you in ikorodu. Do you think the thief was emotional when they wanted to steal your phone? The robbers could even be pretending and be chatting with you in a friendly manner,i don't want to know if it is the buyer that is chatting with you, as far as i am concerned, all of them in the chain are all robbers.

It's cool when you were able to find the phone which was stolen many years ago, I guess there is nothing more surprising and this is really good news actually. If I were you I would be glad to find my lost phone within couple of years. It literally sends you back to those times, at least in my case it woul be like that. However, nowadays people don't know how to appreciate something that they were given, basically they don't know how to appreciate gifts or presents, at least I meet such people who don't care about something that they were gifted. I believe that if you have a goft from someone, then this person put a sense in this gift before presenting it.

Op let me explain something to you

The phone can still be used even if you don’t send the code

What he need is to bypass the mi account

The people that sold it to him bypassed the mi account and he went home and reseted the phone

It went back to the real owners account

I bypass iCloud on iPhones but if you flash it again, the real account will show up again but you can still re bypass it

It’s just money

Make una no de happy say MI account strong like that

Oppo own na him hard pass
Ignorance is a disease true true....

Flash it 1million times, once u insert a sim and connect to network. The phone will lock again, doesn't matter if u reset it or not. Go and read more about mi cloud and the engineers behind that brilliant idea. Oppo sef dey try...
