Lithiumite: K. Modified At the end, they probably were thinking of transporting them by land...but that would involve going through two war torn countries ...CAR and T'chad. At the end, it has to be by sea. |

Fighter2029: Yeah, the issue is, the land route goes through the Central African Republic, which is in crisis right now, and there is Chad, which is also in crisis right now, especially in its Eastern border. The only viable route for now is the sea route..going to the coast of South Africa, then going up North to the Eastern Africa coast. 1 Like |

BigBashiru: It's because you want to believe that something is fishy... Well, the land route goes through Central African Republic, which has ongoing crisis right now, and also goes through Chad, which has issues. The best they can do is transport the equipment via sea. It is too long...but that's the only way for now. You are, of course, free to disagree with me. 3 Likes |

pquaver:this shows that you don't know anything about import and export, it is more cheaper to ship through Lagos than any other seaport in Nigeria, if it will take 2k to ship to Lagos then it will take 4k to ship to other port in Nigeria so as a business man which one would you go for, there is nothing like Lagos here ok I do shipping and I know what I am talking about |

Jakpon: Bro if you go NPA that place needs to be Dredged and the port needs maintenance to function but everything boils down to FG and State government I think, cause I don't know why all our ports in SS non is working. I remember back then when NPA was functioning mhen things was cheap and they was jobs but now that place is like sambisa even DSC self they don't want to restore it. Bro I no go lie they is more to see that we ain't seeing, cause if the ports in SS are functioning properly we will be unstoppable and it will be more easier for those in SE to do Business. |

LaSenior: Oga Warri port no dey cheap goods like Lagos port it's not a problem of price. Even if Lagos port is cheaper the transportation from Lagos to other part of the country might still be a stumbling block I rather ship 4k and spend 2k to transport to my destination than to ship 2k and spend 6k to transport to my destination. 2 Likes |

Una too like wahala for this country. We see UN military vehicles all the time here in Ondo state. They travel in convoy of 20 to 30 and they always cause traffic on highways when they travel but we don't say anything cos I guess Ondo people are educated enough to know that Nigeria is a major player in the UN defense program. 4 Likes 1 Share |

The United Nations does not have troops or military equipment The United Nations does not have troops or military equipment. Member nations contribute troops and military equipment for peace keeping missions. There are many different ways in which member states can contribute to peacekeeping missions. 1) Troops and military equipment: A country like Nigeria can contribute troops and military equipment like trucks, armoured fighting vehicles, tanks, etc. to United Nations peacekeeping missions. The biggest contributors in this category are developing countries from Asia (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, etc), Africa (Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, etc) and South America (Brazil, etc). Countries contribute troops to these mission in order for the troops to gain experience, in order to boost their international standing and also for humanitarian reasons. 2) Money A member state could contribute money to UN missions. The biggest contributors in this category are developed countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, France, etc. The United Nations pays allowances to troops on peacekeeping missions. For example, a Nigerian soldier on peacekeeping mission will receive his salary from the Nigerian Government and he will also receive an allowance (in dollars) from the United Nations. The countries that contribute troops and equipment also receive funds for other reasons, for example, in this case, the United Nations might bear the cost of painting those vehicles in UN colours. 3) Logistics I'll explain this with an example. The Nigerian Air Force has C130 aircraft with which it flies troops, vehicles and other equipment to where they are needed. However, the United States (from which we got our C130s) imposed sanctions on Nigeria after the June 12, 1993 elections were annulled. We couldn't get spare parts for the C130 or have them repaired. Many C130s were grounded in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Nigeria wanted to provide troops and vehicles for a UN mission in the early 2000s, but we didn't have enough C130s to fly them there. The United States Air Force contributed to the UN mission by using its C130s and C5 Galaxy to fly Nigerian troops and equipment to the country where the mission took place. Those vehicles in Edo State are Nigerian Army vehicles. That exact same type of Toyota Land Cruiser (Buffalo) is being used in Borno and other states where there are insurgencies. |

Fighter2029: Erm to get to kenya and uganda you have to go via CAR or DR Congo which has issues and war. |
Re: Defence Headquarters Allays Fears Over UN Military Vehicles by Esales(m): 11:17am On Apr 05, 2023 |
nairalanda1: There's no way to get to South Sudan either from Nigeria except through the same Chad and Congo. DRC is the best route from Equitorial Guinea. The trucks were sighted at Warri, Edo and Ebonyi, which only makes sense if they're going to Cameroon which is where they passed on their way here See the map below.... The lie doesn't add up. If you have a better clarification, I'm willing to hear it

nairalanda1: Just because of a tiny fraction of DRC..... Which isn't even bordering South Sudan, it makes sense to cut off the whole DRC and go through Nigeria? What route do you think they'll use from Nigeria ? Libya, Chad, CAR are all in a mess

Re: Defence Headquarters Allays Fears Over UN Military Vehicles by Esales(m): 11:32am On Apr 05, 2023 |
naptu2: But they were imported from Equitorial Guinea via Mt HR Pearl.... They were offloaded from the vessel painted in UN Peace keeping colours right from the vessel... And they look new, that's by the way. If Nigeria is donating to the UN for the South Sudan mission, Nigeria should be sending vessels to DRC to easily access South Sudan by road because the land route to South Sudan is f*cked up all the way to Libya. I attached a map for clearer understanding of my point

Re: Defence Headquarters Allays Fears Over UN Military Vehicles by Esales(m): 11:39am On Apr 05, 2023 |
naptu2: Understand my point, they were already painted when offloaded from Equitorial Guinea. And we both know that there's no UN Peace Keeping mission going on in the Equitorial Guinea. I attached a photo of the vessels being offloaded from Mt HR Pearl What do you think about this?
