I remembered when JAGABAN was campaining in Cross River,he mentioned ATIKU name as his close rivalry and said mentioning the third person is a DISGRACE to him, meaning he's is not on the same level with OBI.It is a big disgrace for a whole SHOYINKA to have debate with DATTI. DATTI must come with dictionary that day. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

EmirGold: A lot is wrong with Nigerians, honestly. This man stated in his previous interview how he tried persuading and conversed with Tinubu and Atiku to give a younger generation chance to rule and implored them to withdraw from the race. Just because he perceived desperation in Datti statements and called it out as it should be, y'all want to roast him. This is a man that has always been standing on what's his just for this country and try to avoid politics in its entirety . He went ahead to condemned the fine slammed on the Tv station as well. We need to be open minded in Nigeria and never be biase for this country to move forward. 3 Likes |

EmirGold: HOW HAS THE IGBOS HELPED IN SHAPING AND DEVELOPING LAGOS ? The aim of this post is NOT TO DERIDE ANY TRIBE, it's not an attempt to brickbats, but to correcting the dangerous misinformation trending AMONG SOME IGBO YOUTHS and very common in their narratives, that "Lagos is a no-man's land". That, they builds and develops Lagos. That, Lagos was developed with Nigeria's monies, when Lagos was not even part of Nigeria until 1914? For the sake of our generation and posterity, we needs to teach factual history and not just cook up some cock and bull ego-centric pure fiction as facts. The attitude of recycling long tales steeped in empty arrogance should be discarded before miseducating the kids with fantasies. Communication technology is a major signifier of civilizations, and if Lagosians were already making telephone calls more than 70 years before Igbo citizens, where then is the warped idea that, the Igbos develops Lagos ? In 1805, Madam Ẹfúnróyè Tinúbú was the first Nigerian woman to buy a car, she was a wealthy slave trader and sold many slaves to the Europeans. In 1845, THE FIRST STOREY BUILDING IN NIGERIA is located IN BADAGRY, LAGOS STATE, its where Ajayi Crowther translated the Holy Bible from English language to Yorùbá language. By 1848, Madam Ẹfúnróyè Tinúbú was a politically and economically influential figure in Lagos during the reigns of Ọbas Adele. She allegedly owned over 360 personal slaves !!! The landmark Tinubu Square in Lagos, Nigeria, was named after her and also has a statue of her. In 1852, a Post Office was established in Lagos. In 1856, Cable and Wireless Company of the UK had commissioned a submarine cable link between Lagos and London. In 1872, Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading center with a population of over 62,000 people. In 1876, imports were valued at £476,813 and exports at £619,260. In 1886, Telecommunications started in Nigeria. By 1893 offices in Lagos, Jẹbba and Ilọrin were provided with telephone services. In 1886, Electricity generation in Nigeria began in Lagos, with the use of generators to provide 60 kW. In 1898, there was electric street lighting in Lagos. In 1903, the first set of films shown in Nigerian theatres in Glover Memorial Hall in Lagos. In 1913, Ọlayinka Herbert Macaulay was the first Nigeria to owned a car...all these before the emergence of Nigeria as an amalgamated country. In 1913, Tom Jones was the first Nigeria that drove a car and donated the first public library to Lagos State Government, at the time, Lagos was referred to as the Lagos Colony. In 1923, the Nigerian Electricity Supply Company was established as the electricity utility company for the commissioned electricity power station at Ijora Lagos. At commencement, the power plant had a generation capacity of 20 megawatts. In 1923, Ọlayinka Herbert Macaulay formed Nigeria's first political party, Nigerian National Democratic Party (NNDP). In 1930s Abibu Oluwa was one of the first music performers in Lagos. In 1946, The father of Nigerian theatre, Herbert Ogunde featured in Tiger's Empire in Lagos theatres. By 1950s, Ọlábísí Àjàlá, a Lagos socialite, Nigerian globetrotter who saw the world, toured about 87 countries on a motorcycle, but died at home in poverty at 65. In 1964, late Chief SL Akintọla was the first man to import a bulletproof car into Nigeria ( Mercedes Benz £8,000). In 1977, superstar American musicians, Steve Wonder and James Brown landed in Lagos, as Nigeria hosted second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC). Ọbafẹmi Awolọwọ will continue to be the Yoruba's hero, because he solidly gave his people the system of free education, free healthcare and he outstandingly introduced Television to the Yorubas; making Yorubaland the first region to have a TV station in Africa, even before France; all done with revenues from Cocoa. Let us get the fact right, Igbos didn't develop Lagos; rather, it is Lagos that shaped and made the Igbos what they are today. Without Igbos in Lagos, Lagos will remain Lagos and without Lagos, most Igbos may likely not made it. Reason for my assertion is that, most giant and top companies that attracts millions of people across the country and the world at large to Lagos are not owned by the Igbos; so, how have Igbos shaped and developed Lagos? These are the achievement and economic advancements The Igbos brought to Lagos: 1. Tokunbo and Fake Spare Parts at Ladipo Market; 2. China Electronics and Pirated CDs at Alaba Market; 3. Bend-Down and Select Clothes at Idumota, Yaba and Kotangowa Markets, etc: 4. Chinese and Tokunbo Computers/Phones and Accessories at Computer Village, Ikeja are Igbos economical achievement and contributions to Lagos. These companies are what attracts millions of people to Lagos as well as Apapa Industrial Estate, and Ilupeju Industrial Estate built by Obafemi Awolowo.
