A lot of people who fall under the category of "single mothers" usually have something seriously wrong with them.

Either they are not loyal or they are just looking for a sucker to take care of their children.

Everyone has a right to their choice. They just need to ensure that they are their choice's choice.

I have a relative who did not marry a guy because he was a single dad even though her sister was a single mom.

A single dad had to be VERY exceptional for me to consider him for marriage while I was single.

It’s a Choice thing.
You lots should shop conditioning men to make alternative choices.
Women don’t care about anything when making standards. Such should be for men, let them set their standards.

1 Fear of Okafo's Law all in the name of my baby daddy wants to see his child wink
2 Most single women/non-virgins are emotionally damaged to the extent that they believe that anything good can't come from a man.
3 She will always compare the recent guy with the immediate baby daddy
4 Her baby daddy or ex will always have a share of the honeypot grin

The reason she is a single mother is irrelevant as far as I am concerned. Single mothers are great, don't get me wrong. Some of them are victims of men's heartlessness, others made careless mistakes, while some are just victims of one thing or another, but neither of these is any of my business. I can't date a single mom, talk more of marrying one.

I don't have the energy to prove that I am a better man. I don't have the emotional strength to withstand their manipulation. I don't have the finances to raise another man's child.

Some of these women with no valid source of income will fight for custody of the child just so they can use it to source funds. "I am a single mother please help me"

If her ex-partner is an issue, that is a problem for me because I will need to prove that I am better before she can be committed. If she was the problem in the relationship, then she is still a problem. Forget how nicely she treats you; being nice to you and being a nice person are not the same.

She will love the child from the previous relationship more than the ones she will have with you.

I just can't deal.

If I end up a single dad, then I want women to avoid me. I personally will avoid them until I have raised my kids into adulthood because a second wife will mistreat them once she starts having her own kids. She will turn the girl into her slave, and the boy will suffer and get killed if she has her way.

I read about how a guy was complaining and analyzing why guys the age of 18-25 are single.

If young guys are single, shouldn't that mean young girls are single too? However, no body talks about them. Why?

These are just stupid ploys to make guys go for women who are the real single ones.

Singles mothers with good qualities are hardly single. Those that are single are those that are bags of problems.
Atimes, the number of KIDs, matters. A single mom of 1 has got more chances than a single mom of 4.

Another observation is, the hardWorking single Moms, have the luxury of not settling with just any how man. Some (or MOST) men ain't worth it, hence they take their time in choosing or not reMarrying at all.

Let's not try painting a picture that most are unable to find rePlacements, because of their character. Lots of men ain't useful to themselves, let alone to their partners. in fact, in lots of families/relationships, the men are being fed and cared for by same women you guys bash any how. Still respects those women who are the financial breadWinner of the families, without making it too obvious the Man isn't living up to responsibilities.

Very true.
Some years back, I was good friends with a single mom. Young and beautiful but her ex husband was a terror. Even after a court divorce and losing custody of their three year old daughter (he had to pay monthly child support and was allowed one day visitation per week with the child), the guy was a drama king. Twice he abducted the girl from play class and took her away to the city he resides. It took the police to get the girl back.
Too much drama if the nigga is still alive.

There is so much at stake marrying single mothers. When the relationship fails, you lose her, you lose the child by default, you lose your time and property to her, you lose your sanity. You lose on all sides. When you are together, you hear things like, "My child", from the woman when issues come up, when she invests it is for her child, not the family, you take the risk to invest in the child who may later take sides with his/her mother, it is always you against them. The risks far outweigh the benefits of marrying a single mother.

The ONLY exception is when God directs you to marry one. Such single mother will be different from the herd.
The bolded is where you spoilt your writeUp.
The way and manner you people believe in this GOD / god of a thing baffles me.
Why bring God / god into sane conversations ?

Some single moms are great wife material but the ones on NL are otherwise.
They are deranged, damaged and in despair.
There's no amount of love can repair em.
Theyre plenty here on NL..

It's the way the society demeans a man's choice that irritates me, yikes!!! undecided...

OP...
The reason why most men don't want to marry a single mother is not because of any St.upid "fear", it's because of CHOICE!!!! undecided...

Most men don't want single mothers, PERIOD!!!!! undecided...

Y'all need to start accepting men's choice(s) in women and stop trying to demean men for having and exercising it undecided...

Personally, single mothers are a no go area for me, and my son's relationship wise undecided...

I don't care how she became a single mother, that's IRRELEVANT!!! undecided...

But as long as there's a well cultured 18 - 24year old virgin out there, I'd rather be castrated than marry a single mother AND THAT'S MY CHOICE!! undecided...
You have said it all

In Nigeria, as in many parts of the world, the dynamics of relationships and family structures have evolved significantly over the years. One of the most noticeable changes is the increasing number of single mothers in society.

While this trend is indicative of the strength of women who navigate the challenges of single parenthood, it has also sparked discussions about why some men may hesitate or even fear marrying single mothers.

Take for instance, Chidi, a young professional in Lagos, confessed that he once hesitated to date a single mother because he feared what his family and friends would say.

In Nigeria, like in many other societies, there exists a certain stigma attached to single motherhood. Traditional cultural norms often place a high value on the nuclear family unit, where children are raised by both biological parents.

https://newsroundtheclock.com/why-most-nigerian-men-fear-marrying-single-mothers/

If you can, avoid marrying a single mother. It does not matter why she is single. It also does not matter how young the kids are when you married their mum as people erroneously believe. They will soon know you are not their real father.

She might be grieving over a guy she loved or bitter over a guy who broke her heart. Either way, she's wounded. You are not to be mending a heart as a starting point in a relationship. Women only truly love their own biological child. Her love is primarily towards a child that is not yours before you even start.

This is not theory. I have seen it up close in several families. 40 to 60 years later, the men suffered in the hands of their stepchildren, especially if the men outlived the women. Step kids abandoned them.

The men used their youth/vital resources that could have built wealth/energy to help raise their stepchildren but whatever they did was NEVER enough.

Over the years, the men even had to become very careful when disciplining the step kids, otherwise accusations of being wicked because they were not their biological kids flew around.

Only an exceptionally good woman is worth marrying as a single mother. Because you can't be sure if the single mother you want to get involved with is among the exceptional 1%, it's a massive gamble. Not what a single guy should be doing. Frustration and ingratitude are almost certain ahead.

You can date a single mum but marriage, be extremely careful.
